As he walked toward the Aurum Stables, it occurred to Ryley that it had been too long since he had been on a horse. He had missed it so much, almost as much as he missed his mama’s homemade cookies. He had found himself homesick a lot lately and he didn’t like it much. Deep down he knew there was no going back, that his family was gone forever. They didn’t make it through the “Takeover”, or whatever others called it. They were too weak in mind and spirit to become what he was. They were gone. Forever. A pout formed on his recently strawberry chapsticked lips and his brows furrowed. He didn’t like thinking like that, it made him sad. Ryley always tried to be so upbeat and happy even when he wasn’t feeling it deep down. Lately he had been finding it hard to put up his normal happy front and he had been spending a lot of time just by himself. Tonight was exactly that. He found himself feeling too down and staying all cooped up in his room was not an option any more.
So there had been this pair of riding boots sitting in his closet that Ryley found in a thrift store and he had been dying to wear them. Tonight he decided enough pouting he was going to get up off his cute little bum and go out to the stables. It hadn’t taken him long to throw something together to wear, his closet was almost too full. Why not? Since he was out of the closet there was more room for clothes, right? The thought made him giggle. Not much lately was able to do that, but tonight he had decided to change that. The boots kept his feet quite warm and this pleased him greatly as he made his way to the stables, the bounce returning to his steps a little more and more as he got closer to the beautiful red barn. The night air felt wonderful and he smiled a little more. Yes this was a good choice. It was much better than sitting around in his superman pajamas in his dorm room.
The scent of the stables hit his cute little nose before he ever got to the doors. Yay for super vampire spelling power! The smell of the hay, leather and dirt actually was quite wonderful. His pace picked up and he came bounding through the open doors of the barn. “Hello my beautiful creatures.” A giggle couldn’t be stopped as he spoke to the horses in a bit of a silly voice. It really had been too long since he was here last, but not too much had changed. All the tack and supplies were put away nice and neat where they always were. Ryley glided over to the tack room and grabbed a nice stiff bristled brush, a straight comb and a bottle of detangler. You know, just in case. He used to frequent the barn at least twice a week, but it had been at least a month or better since he was here last. Ryley shook his head a little, no he wasn’t going to dwell on it. Not only was he homesick but the boy he liked has just disappeared without warning and never came back. It happens. Doesn’t it? Ryley stopped a sigh as he made his was down to his favorite horse’s stall. Positive thoughts.
“Tonka…” he called softly as he approached. “Are you sleeping boy?” he was answered with a soft whiny and he could help the huge smile that that soft sound gave him. He reached the stall and peeked in. “Hello there my sweet boy.” He spoke softly to the horse. It was true. He had missed that large beast more then he realized until just now. Ryley swallowed down the lump in this throat and slid into the stall leaving the door open behind him. Tonka was a good boy and Ryley wasn’t worried about him leaving the stall without him. He was welcomed with a strong nuzzle from the big chestnut horse. “Hey there.” Ryley placed a kiss on the animal’s nose. “I’ve missed you too boy.” No words could have ever been truer. Ryley moved around to the horse’s side and started the rhythmic ritual of brushing him. Some waited until after riding to brush but Ryley didn’t want any clumps of dirt or debris to somehow end up under the saddle so he always brushed before and after riding. Ryley couldn’t help but hum softly while he was brushing. Tonka didn’t seem to mind it and the acoustics in this place were epic. It wasn’t long before the humming turned into soft singing. Soon Ryley was lost in his own little world. Words: 800 Muse: There Outfit: ~*~Outfit~*~ Notes: Woot…oh and he’d never even hurt a fly. He is so sweet. Hope it's not a total fail. lol.

Wilhelm rarely thought about his own family or any part of his past for that matter. Though he did hold the memories dear and deep within his heart, it had been a rough journey to move past them, and he would not fall into that state of hopelessness ever again. At least, he would not if he could help it and he would have hated to have been proven wrong on that matter. Wilhelm’s mind instead wandered over thoughts of his own survival, where would he sleep tonight, and where would he go tomorrow. They were thoughts he had to relive each and every day ever since the takeover of the world; as he would call it. He wasn’t really sure what their kind called this existence, but he tried not to get to involved in their world. He knew very well that there were few options for the life of a human who was discovered by the trackers. That was not the life he wanted for himself and so he continued to run. There were certain luxuries he missed, of course, being brought up within a family that was not bad off. One of those very luxuries was that of horse back riding, though to him, it seemed a little odd that there were still places to do so. He wondered why vampires enjoyed human blood so much when there were other creatures out there with plenty of it, such as horses, yet they did not seem to murder them in mass. Perhaps it was because they desired what humans had, what they had lost, or never had to begin with. Wilhelm couldn’t be sure, he’d never met a vampire, at least not one that was willing to look at him as anything more than material; for whatever reason. Being that as it was Wilhelm’s decision today was that he would stay in the stables with the horses, sure it was not the most pleasant smelling place, but it beat being in a cage somewhere begging for his freedom. It was also a plus to him because it meant he could enjoy an old luxury that he’d longed to enjoy once again. Wilhelm believed, for a moment, that this place would be perfectly peaceful. That he would not encounter one of their kind there simply because the idea of a vampire riding a horse seemed slightly ridiculous. A monster riding a an animal, it was comical to think, but also very amusing. Wilhelm was surprised, despite his beliefs, to find that there was another already there when he arrived. A younger male from the looks of it, attractive to say the least, especially with those riding pants shaping him so well. Wilhelm found himself staring as he walked into the stable, his hand trailing the stalls that held the animals as he walked, a fingertip running along the path of the grain. Making sure not to brush the sleeve of his stitched black coat to the surface, after all, he liked to keep it clean. The echo of his pocket watch’s chain would chime with his steps, almost as loudly as the boots that covered his feet, but not quite as heavy in sound. The night air felt nice, it was relaxing, soothing even. He felt safer in the dark, it was harder to see him, he felt. It was also harder to see the tell-tale-signs of who was what they were and who was not. After all, there were features of a vampire that just creeped him out to say the very least. However, those things were far from his mind as he watched the male, hearing his voice speaking to the animals, he was not quite sure of whether this man was vampire or human just yet. The tone of his voice sounded human, the way he spoke to the animals with such care sounded human, but he could not judge entirely on that. Vampires were deviant creatures at times and he could not completely judge based only on that, but the boy started to sound so sad. Could vampires even feel sad? He wasn’t really sure he could believe that they did. If they felt anything at all why was the world as it was now? Wilhelm cautiously would move forward through the barn. The silver necklace that hung around his neck dangled with the pendant of a silver spiders who’s legs clutched a blue gem. It had been something he’d found on his journey and he wore it simply for the appearance of being ‘protected’ in order to avoid any suspicions when he happened upon those creatures. Though he was not aware whether or not they would believe such based only on that jewelry. It was only a hopeful tactic in ensuring his own safety in public. The sound of that voice drew him further, until he stood nearest to the stall the other male cared for the horse at, then he would stop moving all together. “What a beautiful voice. Do you sing often to the animals here?” he would question with a soft tone. Hoping not to startle the other male. Words: 858 Muse: Flirtatious Outfit: Le ApparelNotes: Ryley seems adorable Wilhelm's intrigued.

Ryley was well aware that he probably made the worst vampire ever. He hardly paid much attention to the things others did. There was not a single part of him that longed to be the mean and violent vampire that he was used to seeing. Somehow through it all he managed to preserve his innocent nature. Yes he had excellent hearing, smelling, was supposed to be strong…blah blah blah. It seemed that he hardly ever thought to be “better” at being a vampire. Some had teased him for being such a failure but mostly he never took it to heart. Why should he bother? He was not a hunter or fighter, so why should he be all big and bad? Forget it. That would never be him, not ever. So much like his normal self, he never noticed the horse’s ears twitching in the direction of the oncoming stranger. No he was too busy in his ritual of brushing down the horse and singing away.
The brushing was calming to him and it made him forget that there was so much stuff swimming around in his pretty little head. It was a coping mechanism, he knew this and it bothered him none. So what if he liked to just not think for a while. The easy and set steps it took to get ready to ride were reassuring. They never changed and he liked that familiarity. With the brushing of the entire upper half accomplished, Ryley bent down to brush the under belly of Tonka. He took notice of how easy it was to bend over in the riding pants. Oh goddess they were so comfortable, the idea to wear them all the time flitted through his mind. He laughed a bit to himself, as comfortable as he would be it would look quite silly. Maybe he wouldn’t then. Again his mind had sucked him in and he was paying not a bit of attention to what was happening outside of the horse’s stall. There was a clump of dirt that he was concentrating on removing with the brush and he was hell bent on getting it off.
The voice was gentle enough and yet in pure Ryley fashion he jumped with a small ‘eep!’ sound, sending his head to bounce off Tonka’s soft belly and as a result losing his balance landing himself on the soft pile of straw on the floor of the stall. He sat there for a moment. Did he really hear a voice or was he just going crazy? The horse turned his head to look at him, and Ryley swore if a horse could roll its eyes, then Tonka did it before shaking his whole head and body and looking away. Silly horse. Silly me. Ryley scrambled to his feet brushing the straw off of his plushy blue vest and his pants. The more he thought about it he didn’t recognize the voice he heard. He did hear it…His eyes squinted momentarily. No he defiantly did. With a little shake of his head to clear his silly thoughts he slowly approached the door way of the stall and peeked out.
Before him stood quiet an impressively dressed young man…young human man. Oh my. The blush that flushed his cheeks was automatic. What had the young man said to him? Oh right. He liked his voice. Well….Ryley liked the sound of his voice too! “Thank you.” Oh geeze, he couldn’t help but grin. “Tonka doesn’t seem to mind it…” Ryley knew his voice wasn’t that bad, but mostly he chose to play an instrument…but it was nice to hear that even though he didn’t sing a lot his voice was still appreciated. The horse nudged Ryley in the back side and it made Ryley take a few steps out of the stall. Once again he tried to brush himself off, but paid no attention to the fact that he still had some straw in his hair. It was easy to forget to talk when a human was standing in front of him, especially this human. The young man’s good looks were terribly distracting to Ryley and he tried not to stare. Nervously he cleared his throat. “So…do you like…horses?” Boys! Oh he wanted to say boys and not horses. When it came to flirting or really talking to any guys that he found attractive Ryley found that he was such a coward.
There were a million things running through his head that he wanted to ask. What was a human doing out here? Was he a pet? Was he in danger? Ryley’s mind was going crazy and yet he couldn’t stop grinning and blushing like a little school girl. Goddess. Again came a nudge from behind and he couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Didn’t the silly horse know he was busy talking to a gorgeous young man? How rude. Where were his manners? Again he tugged on his vest to straighten it a little and he remembered the apple slices he had slipped in his pocket before leaving the school. He fished the little ziplock bag out of his pocket and opened it. “Tonka’s favorite.” He held up the little bag and smiled. “I had almost forgotten, but he sure didn’t. Would you like to give him one?” Ryley offered a slice to the boy and as he did it occurred to him that he had forgotten to introduce himself. He didn’t even give the boy a chance to answer his question. “oh! I’m sorry…I’m so rude.” He shook his head a laughed. “I’m Ryley.” He just stood there awkwardly not sure if he needed to offer his hand to shake or what. Leave it to him to be socially awkward at the worst times. Words: 947…or more…I don’t wanna count again. ;-) Muse: There Outfit: ~*~Outfit~*~ Notes: (^.^) he is sooo happy. No lie.

Wilhelm could not help but to find appeal in the other man’s almost innocent nature. The way he treated the animals and the way his voice escaped into the air. He could not imagine a world where no one could express such things. It had been so long since he’d heard such a gentleness. It intrigued him, but at the same time there was so much about it that frightened him. If this man was human like him, was he owned, and if he was would his protector be nearby. Waiting to harvest any that were lured by that siren’s song. It almost made him timid, almost made him retreat, but how could he? Regardless of what this man was, he had to know, he had to know more about him.
Wilhelm watched as the man bent over, sure he was much older than this one, but he was a guy. When presented with an image of something that was pleasing to look at he, like almost all men, would indulge in staring and checking it out. His eyes slid over the curvature of the man’s rump as he bent over to brush the horse’s underbelly. Wilhelm would have agreed he should go riding any day if it meant he was able to see that sight again. It was fantastic to watch, exciting a bit, but he did best to suppress those familiar feelings given the rarity of cases in which he might be able to indulge in them safely.
He leaned back away from the stall after he’d heard that noise. It was an adorable sound, but at the same time he was almost afraid he’d look like some sort of creepy stalker sitting there watching the boy bend over to brush his horse. What a horrible impression that would surely make. Wilhelm focused on the door as he saw the boy emerge from within, it was like watching a flower blooming from the earth in elapsed time. Truly breath taking, the sort of sight that made you nearly forget to breathe, and for a moment he had. Though he took in a sharp breath shortly after to make up for this skip.
Was he…blushing? Wilhelm was almost surprised to see that much, he wasn’t aware that vampires could blush, he’d always heard rumors that their bodies did not work that way. So it was much easier to assume that this boy was human, just as he, and perhaps it was foolish to assume. However, he’d never seen a vampire that was quite like this, let alone talked to one directly. How could he have truly known any better? “You’re welcome, but it is only the truth. I came here to relax and now I find it much easier to after hearing such a sweet voice. “I am sure that….” He paused looking to the horse with a smile as if the horse were a person to be greeted as well. “…Tonka… “ he questioned toward the horse though it could have been assumed just in general. Then he continued, “… Enjoys it as much as I have. If not more. Animals have a much sharper ear than I do.” Perhaps better sense at times as well.
Wilhelm approached closer, surely he couldn’t be that dangerous, not if the horse was nudging him forward; Right? No matter, the sight of that straw in the other male’s hair was distracting, it urged him to move forward. Bringing his hand up to carefully pluck a loose piece of straw from the other man’s hair as he smiled, “I do. Horses are beautiful creatures, there’s a lot to be admired of them, they’re valued deeply and rightfully so.” He stated with a small laugh. “They tend to have personalities all of their own as well, isn’t that right, Tonka?” he questioned the horse who had seemed quite full of personality from what he’d seen of it thus far.
A smile played upon the plush surfaces of his lips as he observed the nudging the horse was doing to the man before him. “Oh? He has good taste, apples are good for you, and they’re delicious.” he stated looking to the apples. Then toward the other male as he introduced himself. A small laugh escaped his lips, “If you are rude then so am I. neither of us remembered.” though he’d grown accustomed to avoiding that usual greeting. If his name got out, then it would be easier to identify him, he did not want that to happen. However, he found himself replying somewhat anyway, a hand extending toward the other man. The warm flesh holding a certain amount of grace in it’s movements, even to the forms of his fingers uncurling before the other man in gesture , “A pleasure to meet you Ryley. That color is lovely to see in these dark days. “ he stated of course meaning the color that had possessed the other man’s cheeks. “My name is Wilhelm.” that was the only piece of his name he shared, but it should be simply enough for now. If the other male did give him his hand Wilhelm would place a simple kiss upon it’s surface, though if not, the gesture would be dismissed without much thought on it.
Not everyone greeted with handshakes these days. He wouldn’t blame them. The world had become scary. “Is your protector nearby?” Wilhelm asked bluntly. Perhaps a little forward a question, but he’d assumed the other man was a human and if so he had to make sure that the protector of this man was nowhere to be found before he sought much further.
Word Count: 947 Muse: Curious and Flirtatious Notes: He's still nervous, but he assumes the other man to be human.

Ryley wasn’t used to be complimented in such a nice way and that made the skin of his cheeks flush even more. It wasn’t every day that he had the chance to converse with someone like this young man. Mostly Ryley hung out with girls. Why not? They liked a lot of the same things and even though girls could be mean they were a thousand times easier to get along with than ninety five percent of the populous of the school. Even though the school was accepting of those with different tastes physically, didn’t mean there weren’t bullies out there too. He had the poor misfortune of bumping into a few. The biggest one to avoid was some big guy all tattooed up, always wearing aviators. Ryley disliked him the most. To be talking to someone, even though to Ryley he appeared to be a human, like this gentleman was refreshing for Ryley.
There were a few pets that he’d seen about campus but none of them looked like this human. It sparked a curiosity deep with in him. Most humans, if they were not pets, were deep in hiding. He wondered what this man was doing wandering about so close to campus. He was broke from in internal babble as the other man introduced himself and stretched out his hand. Ryley smoothly moved his right hand from where it had been touching his blushing cheeks to place it in Wilhelm’s hand. The kiss that was placed on top his hand left not only his hand feeling tingly but a sudden warmth spread through his entire body. It was a delicious feeling and had Ryley feeling a little giddy. Ryley couldn’t stop thinking about how soft and warm the other man’s hand had felt in his. For a moment he imagined what other soft places would be fun to touch.
A snort off to Ryley’s left broke him from his thoughts. The apples. He was so distracted that he almost forgot…again. “Here…” Ryley pulled a perfectly cut piece of apple out of the baggy and placed it in his plam. “Like this…” he looked up from his hand to Wilhelm with a smile. “Just keep our hand flat.” Ryley put his hand slowly under Tonka’s nose and the horse’s lips gently scooped up the slice. Tonka’s head bobbed up and down a little as he munched and Ryley could help the soft laugh that escaped him. “They really are his favorite.” Ryley handed a slice to Wilhelm. “Your turn.” He would gladly help him keep his hand flat if the other boy was nervous about losing a finger to the big beast. As always Tonka was impatient and he poked his head out a little further taking a step out of his stall. It obscured Ryley’s view of the human boy and it made Ryley pout. He blinked for a moment trying to figure out what Wilhelm was talking about. Protector? He may be a smaller vampire but he didn’t need a protector…ok it wouldn’t hurt, but it was unnecessary. What a silly question to ask. Ryley peek around the horse’s neck a look of pure confusion written all over his delicate features. “I don’t need a protect-” When he looked at the other boy it wasn’t hard to see that Wilhelm was nervous. The realization hit him and his expression changed to one of concern. “ooh…” He slowly stepped around the horse to be closer to Wilhelm.
Nervously he picked at the bottom hem of his vest. The human thought that he was human. It worried him much that this little interaction would end as soon as Wilhelm found out that Ryley was one of the “bad guys” even though he wasn’t bad at all. Quickly an uneasy feeling developed in his stomach. Ryley looked down at his boots for a second and pushed a bit of straw back toward the stall before looking back up. “I’m not…I mean I don’t need a protector.” The words came out softly and slowly as he was trying not to cause this wonderful boy to run away. Ryley chewed on the inside of his bottom lip and watched to see what would happen next. He really meant no harm and he was silently praying to the Goddess that this other boy could see that. It was such an interesting night, if it ended now he would be incredibly let down. He was enjoying the company immensely and he couldn’t stop thinking about the tingle the boy had sent through him. It was wonderful and he was extremely curious to try to feel it again.
“I don’t…I mean…I wouldn’t hurt you.” Ryley couldn’t help it. He had to make sure Wilhelm knew he wasn’t anything to worry about. “I’d never tell anyone….you…you know….where you…are.” He gently shook his head; his words just weren’t coming out right. A great time to be a stuttering fool. He took a deep breath and looked at Wilhelm. “Don’t…don’t leave…” his brows furrowed and he seriously tried not to pout. “Please?” Words: 844 Muse: There Outfit: ~*~Outfit~*~ Notes: omg, he is so worried! Wilhelm had to be careful around this man. If he wasn’t he knew for sure he could easily get used to being around such an adorable being. That in itself would be dangerous for many reasons. One of which being that it would open up opportunity for someone to use the other male against him and another was simply because he feared that they would perish. Leaving him behind as many he’d known in the past had with the coming of this new age. However, he knew that was not going to be an easy task given the appeal this man had to him. That color growing darker upon those cheeks made him smile a little too much. Wilhelm could not remember school very well, what he had learned remained, but the social activities he’d participated in had started to flee his mind already. The did not seem quite as important to him as they did back then. After all, life now was about surviving until the time was that a new era would emerge. Who knew what could happen. After all, if there were vampires, there had to be other species out there, right? Someone could help them keep what is left of their human lives, right?
Wilhelm would not have explained to deeply about where he came from, or who he was, but as for his choice in location to stay the night he might have told this very man the truth of the matter. To rest near those he feared was safer than believing he was safe further away where it was more likely they would search for his kind. Then again, Wilhelm was under the impression he was good at hiding his humanity, he had little true idea of just how badly he stood out. His fingers curled upon the hand offered to him, gingerly bringing it to his lips as he bowed forward, allowing the soft surfaces of his lips to place their greeting. His touch would linger until that snort of the animal behind Ryley would capture his attention.
It was then his fingers slipped away from the other man’s own. Not wanting to offend him by holding on any longer though he wished to be oh-so offensive. Though he watched the other man with an amusement written in his features. He laughed gently and moved closer to him as he was handed the apple slice. “Alright. Lets see just like this, yes?” he questioned holding his hand out flat with the apple slice in his palm. Bringing his hand almost nervously toward the creature’s mouth though he found himself quite grateful to Ryley for help in steadying his own hand. Though as the horse ruined his view of the other man he made a disappointed sound. ‘No! The light at my window should not have the curtain drawn upon it!’ he thought to himself as he pleaded with the horse with a hopeful gaze.
Despite it having no effect, that gaze, he had been granted that image again as the other male moved around the horse. “You are not captured either?” he seemed surprised by this, but it was not because he believed himself to be the only refugee. It was because he feared for a boy that gentle and kind in a world as dark as this one. “I will pr--” he paused in what he had started to say. What was he thinking? He couldn’t protect someone else against a vampire. It was hard enough avoiding them himself. Given the rate of the disappearance of people around him since the event it amazed him that he was even able to last this long a free man.
“You do not need a protector?” It still had not dawned on Wilhelm that this man could be those people he had grown to believe were heartless and cruel. How could it have? He was conditioned through it all to believe that they were the enemy. That he had to avoid them in order to survive, in order to have his god given rights, to be free. It was not until the other man stated that he would not hurt him that the realization set in. He’d been attracted to a vampire, to the very creature he had been running from for so long, to someone who could easily capture him right there.
Wilhelm felt a fool, the color filled his cheeks, though it was not because he was afraid surprisingly. It was because even though he was met with this harsh reality he didn’t want to run away from him, yet that fear seemed almost paralyzing. Hearing the other male’s words seemed to smack that expression of terror from his features. Snapping him from his thoughtful daze, Wilhelm made a small noise, his lips parting as if he were going to speak, though his voice did not pass his lips. At least not until the other man pleaded with such an expression upon his features, “You….you’re one of them?” he questioned at last. The nervousness apparent in his voice, “You’re a vampire? “ oh gods in heaven why was such an adorable creature one of the beings he had to stay clear of?
“I won’t leave.” He promised. Why? Why was he being so foolish. His instincts told him to run, to change locations, but somehow he felt deep within that this man was true to his word. He wondered if he would come to regret his choice later, but for now he moved toward the other male until he stood just in front of him. His fingers moving to brush beneath his chin if he allowed it, after all Wilhelm would never force contact upon anyone who did not desire his touch, “Please understand. It is not you I fear. It is those who want to do unspeakable things to my kind that I fear. Please forgive me for this fear, I cannot help it, I hope you can understand that.”

When the realization had revealed itself on Wilhelm’s face, Ryley’s stomach sunk. It was just unfair. He wasn’t exactly sure how to reason the whole situation out at the moment but about one thing he was positive, it was unfair. There was nothing more in this entire damned world that he wanted more then to stay in the company of this young man. It was if he was five years old again and he was fighting his momma in the morning about getting out of him nice warm bed. Ryley didn’t want to give up this feeling, not yet…he needed this more than he could express. His whole body ached to keep this young man’s company.
The sudden flush that appeared on Wilhelm’s cheeks confused Ryley. Was is something he had done? Of course it was, Wilhelm thought he was a human. When Wilhelm started to speak again the nervous tone of his voice made Ryley pout. Oh how he didn’t like this. He didn’t like to be the cause of someone’s uneasiness, he was always trying to make others happy and hated when he failed. Brows furrowed with concern, Ryley stepped slowly around Tonka, who had become bored and started back into his stall. There was yummy hay he could be munching on in there.
There was an empty space now between them, as much as Ryley wanted to close that space and touch that soft skin again he restrained himself. He wasn’t about to take a chance in scaring the other boy off. “I am.†Ryley couldn’t help but make a face as he spoke softly answering both questions with his one answer. He didn’t like this…this feeling of somehow being a failure in this other boy’s eyes, simply because he was not what Wilhelm thought he was.
The other boy had said he wouldn’t leave, but Ryley wasn’t sure how much truth was in his words. He wanted to believe him with every ounce of his soul. Why would such an interesting person want to hang out with one of the creatures that had taken his whole world away?... not that Ryley had even any part in it. Ryley hadn’t noticed his eyes had closed until he felt those heavenly fingers touching just under his chin. Blue eyes blinked open and he tried to focus on Wilhlem’s face, but he was so distracted by his touch. It sent tiny tingles through him, his cheeks flushed in response and his lips parted ever so slightly. He was listening, really his was but it was so hard to concentrate on anything Wilhelm was saying. It registered in his brain that the other boy was talking but his words sounded so far away. “Sorry…†the soft and yet so sincere words passed over his lip before he could even think.
Again his body was moving without his directions, his hand came up to capture the one that Wilhelm had caressed his chin with. If the other boy didn’t yank his hand away, he would place a soft kiss on the inside of his hand, lips lingering just momentarily as he took a deep breath in before he released it. Some would view his action as weird, but Ryley didn’t think of that, all he could think of was how much he longed for and enjoyed any contact with this human. It was the first physical human contact he had had since he left his parents for the last time. Their hugs had long been forgotten. It made him feel like a child to long for such a simple touch. Hadn’t realized how much he missed it until Wilhelm had grasped his hand before placing a kiss on top. It was wonderful and it left him wanting more.
The scent of this human was intoxicating to Ryley’s senses and it had him all a mess on the inside. Maybe that’s why he was extra awkward tonight. So many thoughts flooded through his already distracted brain. He knew hardly anything about this person, ok he knew nothing about him. Why was he here? Was he going to be in danger? Oh Ryley didn’t like the idea of that. Would he be hungry? Was he tired? The questions filled his mind and yet he couldn’t bring himself to utter a single one. Way to go brain.
“I’m sorry…†Why did he keep saying that? Ryley swallowed hard trying again. “I mean, I understand…and I’m sorry.†A soft sigh slipped past his suddenly parched lips. He was standing so close to Wilhelm that it was affecting his thought process. How was it that a human boy could have such an effect on him? He had never had this experience before and it was thrilling and baffling all at once, not that he would ever complain. Despite how much he didn’t want to, Ryley took a step back from the human boy in an attempt to clear his head a bit. Suddenly he could have cared less about riding and he turned and slid Tonka’s stall door closed, pausing there after sliding the latch shut.
He glanced over his shoulder to see if the other boy would take the opportunity to run, even though he said he would stay. Stay. Where was he going to stay? Ryley was suddenly filled with the terror of the possibility that the bad type of vampires would take Wilhelm way from him. Oh he didn’t like that idea at all. The worry caused him to chew on his bottom lip as he thought of what he could do to help. He was at a loss and he didn’t much care for that either. He blinked looking up at Wilhelm, trying to understand what to do next. He cleared his throat. “I was human once…†he looked at Wilhelm with pleading eyes. “there is so much…so much I could tell you.†Ryley leaned against the door of the stall. Wilhem’s fears often lead him into that overly cautious state. Often he would avoid conversing or even nearing people at a close distance unless he was sure they were human. However, for some reason, he did not take caution as he should have. Perhaps it was because the other male seemed so innocent, so absolutely gentle toward the animal when he did not expect anyone to be watching, that he believed the other man when he said that he would not hurt him. Wilhelm’s features told much of his feelings within, but it wasn’t Ryley’s fault. Maybe, just maybe, there were those who favored human rights after all.
Wilhelm could not stand the look upon the other man’s face, that pouting, that look that made it seem like it hurt his feelings the way Wilhelm acted. It was part of the reason that Wilhelm’s cheeks had gained that color. Inwardly he felt bad, but was it for a good reason? He wasn’t sure. He wasn’t sure that vampires could feel the same things human could, after all as he had always believed , vampires had no problem killing humans for their own selfish needs. How could someone with feelings do that?
As the other male confirmed what he was he could not help, but to feel that strange uneasiness; that fear. However, how could one fear a ray of sunshine that peaked through the darkness forever? Sure, the light’s sudden appearance would be startling, and perhaps cause a uneasiness. Giving those who lived in the questions of whether it would hurt them or not. However, no matter how one resisted that light would draw them to it. He felt Ryley was like that very light. He was so full of life in how he appeared and how he had acted thus far that he found himself drawn to the other male like a moth to a flame.
With the other male’s head lifting to the touch of his fingers his own breath caught for a moment in his throat. He spoke those words, regardless of whether or not the other male took them in, though his expression would come to change once again as Ryley apologized to him. Wilhelm could not place where the apology lined up, but it made him smile shortly after. Giving a small, gentle, laugh to the fact. “I never imagined I’d hear those words passing the beautifully tempting lips of a vampire to me.” he stated with a bit of amusement remaining in his tone.
Wilhelm’s amusement was clear in his features, though at the sudden grasp upon his hand he took in a sharp breath, mostly from surprise though there was that pang of fear due to the fact the other male was what he was. The feel of those lips upon his hand made him feel comforted and at the same time it put thoughts in his head that might have offended the other male for him to know he thought of in that moment. What if he bit into his hand? What if he meant to over-power him? No, he couldn’t think that, Ryley couldn’t do such a thing. Wilhelm hoped he was right in thinking such a thing. After all, he was enjoying the attention a little too much. His features would soften after a moment, his lips parting faintly as he took in a breath, it made him long for more.
It had been so long since he’d had any sort of contact with another being. Human or not, the sensation was something that made his heart ache, it made that beating heart leap into his throat. Without really thinking, or considering much, of what Ryley was at that point Wilhelm neared closer to him. It was not the only thing Wilhelm lacked that evening, his stomach was empty, and his body was tired. Yet right then, right there, all he wanted or needed was to feel those lips upon his hand one more time. He would have given this night over completely just to feel that sensation once more.
It was only when the other male apologized again, stepping away from him, that Wilhelm would snap out of that daze. He made a small sound, one that hinted of his longing, yet he could not quite express in words what he desired. After all, wouldn’t it be awkward to ask a man you just met if you could embrace them, right? Was it even awkward in this day and age? He really couldn’t know for sure. “Why do you keep apologizing to me? You’ve done nothing wrong.” he stated looking to his own hand. Curling his fingers slightly, looking back to the other male as he slid the latch shut on the door, for a moment he brushed the hand that Ryley had kissed over his own cheek. Sliding back a few strands of his long hair in the process.
Wilhelm did not run. No, quite the opposite actually, he approached the other male. Watching him turn again, to lean upon that stall door, and he would step closer until he was but inches from the other male. Giving him a serious expression, “I want that.” Wilhelm paused long enough to gather his own thoughts before continuing, “I mean that I want you to tell me. Can you tell me? What it’s like? What it was like when it took hold of you? I want to know about you. All parts of you.” he stated firmly. Though his feature’s softened as a small color returned to his cheeks. “Ah.. I am sorry that is probably a cruel thing to ask you to …ah.. Forget I asked. “ he stated seeming conflicted. He wanted to know all of those things and more, but to ask that poor vampire to explain something that couldn’t have been pleasant he felt a terrible guilt.
Wilhelm looked around a bit, then back to the other man, his lips trembling slightly. “Is there an empty stall we can hide in?” He questioned as his fingers rose in attempts to trail their soft touch along the other male’s cheek. Wilhelm wasn’t so sure why he was even going to stay there now that a vampire knew where he would be. Maybe it was because he really and truly believed Ryley’s words. What was it that was so appealing about this man? Wilhelm leaned near to the other male, drawing his lips near to his ear, allowing his breath past his lips in a soft breeze as he spoke in a whisper to him. “I want you to stay here with me. Even for just a little while. “
Words: 1112 Muse: Wilhelm's heart is going to pop out of his chest for sure <3 Notes: I will go down with this ship.

It had occurred to him that he was apologizing when there was no need for it, but deep down he really was sorry. Sorry for a lot of things that were out of his control. That was something that those that were around Ryley on a regular basis noticed, being a creature with such a big heart he couldn’t help but empathize with those around him, especially those he cared about. He was always their shoulder to cry on or extra ear if someone just needed to vent. In this case he knew there were things that were bothering Wilhelm and all he felt like he could was apologize. As silly as it was, Ryley just couldn’t help it.
To his surprise Wilhelm wasn’t upset with him, in fact he laughed a little at it. Oh how beautiful that laugh sounded to his ears, it eased some of the tension and anxiety he had been feeling inside. Those light blue eyes blinked as his brain was processing what was said to him. Temping? His lips were beautifully tempting? Now that was something he liked the sound of, inside he was ecstatic but on the outside he tired really hard to keep a hold of himself. He didn’t want to screw this up.
He pressed his palms against the worn surface of the wood on the stall doors, as if he needed to just ground himself for a moment. It felt like his head was swimming, there was so much he was thinking about. He was quickly snapped out of this feeling when he brought up his gaze from where it had wander to on the ground to see Wilhelm was approaching him. Goddess. He wasn’t running away, no he was coming closer to Ryley. Nervous butterflies flitted about in his stomach, his breath held and he could not take his eyes from this human. It was such a relief to know that Wilhelm wanted to stay, that he wanted to know what Ryley could tell him. This was good. So very good. One would be able to see the sudden light in his eyes from the possibility of what the near future could hold for them both.
Those same eyes slipped slowly closed as Wilhelm touched his cheek. What was this control this boy had on him? What was it that caused Ryley to become so distracted by his touch? It was all good feelings, no…not good…great…wonderful…amazing. There weren’t the right words to describe how much that simple touch of his fingers could render Ryley so helplessly begging for just a bit more. If those fingers would want to linger just a while longer he wouldn’t mind in the least. He could only imagine the other feelings and touches they could put upon him if they touched more than just his cheek. Lost in his internal thoughts for a moment he leaned against those fingers ever so slightly.
In the back of his mind he knew how true Wilhelm’s worries were. Being out in the open for too long was definitely not a good idea. Blinking his eyes open he mentally shook himself. Focus. Most of the stalls were occupied by horses. It was winter and most of the school’s horses were in the barn more than during the other seasons. Luckily Ryley knew this barn like the back of his perfectly manicured hands. A little smile perked up his lips as he knew a place that would work. He would slip his hand in one of Wilhelm’s, if he didn’t mind. “The stalls are almost all occupied…” his smile widened a little more. “But I know a place that would work…” He tilted his head a little to the left, in an effort to communicate that all Wilhelm had to do was follow him. “No one will bother us there.”
After sidestepping a bit to get around Wilhelm, Ryley led him down the middle isle of the barn. He strode past stall after horse stall; all holding a most likely sleeping horse. The barn was bigger than most, it was built with the same grandeur that the school seemed to hold. There was a place at the far end of the barn that Ryley had in mind. He had spent a few nights in there keeping himself close waiting for his favorite mare to foal. It wasn’t long before Ryley reached that familiar door on the left. He would use both his hands to feel up and around the door’s frame, until he produced a key and it also produced another smile from him. The key slipped perfectly into the lock on the door’s handle and the door swung easily open towards them.
Ryley peered inside to check the condition of the large storage room. It had changed since he had last been in there. Where the cots had been there was now an ample amount of square hay bales and quite a thick blanket of hay on the floor as well. They kept extra in the winter to feed the horses when the grass wasn’t accessible. The old tall storage cabinet was still over in the corner of the room, it was never locked and it held all sorts of useful things. Ryley turned to him and offered him the key before stepping in the room. “It’s a little different than last time I was in here.” There was again a little apology in his words. “but….” He strode over to the storage cabinet and pulled it open. “It isn’t too bad….better than a messy horse stall.” He wrinkled his cute little nose and pulled two large woven blankets from the bottom shelves. It took a little more effort than he had been expecting and he made a little ‘ooff’ sound, those blankets were heavier then he remembered.
Ryley took the top one and shook it out, much like someone would do while making the bed. It came to rest down upon the hay that lay strewn on the floor. Hay was scratchy. Again his face seemed to give away what he was thinking just with the expressions it held. Ryley was funny like that. Most could tell what he was thinking or what he was up to by just looking at his expressive face. He stood there for a moment his hands on his hips, to survey his work. He doubted he would be lucky enough to find any food in the storage locker because of the chance of mice. He turned around to look at Wilhelm. “I hope this is ok…” He was suddenly feeling much more comfortable and he plopped himself down on the soft blanket and leaned against a bale of hay.
It was all he could do to keep himself from patting the blanket next to him to get Wilhelm to come sit with him. He reminded himself that he wasn’t a puppy and he was free to move about and sit wherever he chose to. Instead Ryley pulled his knees up to himself, rested his elbows on them and then his chin rested in his hands. His head was already swimming with all the things he wanted to explain to Wilhelm…there were so many many things he wanted at that moment. "Ask me anything..." There is was out there in the open. Just like that. Ryley was an open book. Words: 1229 (no fing way! I don’t expect this to ever happen again. Lol) Muse: Good. Excited. Outfit: ~*~Outfit~*~ Notes: long post is long

Wilhelm could not understand a single bit of reasoning behind why the other male kept apologizing. Once, he may have understood given that he’d been startled by the information. However, more than once seemed a little much to him. It made him feel a deep sort of guilt for having made that adorable man feel bad enough to feel the need to apologize so many times when it was not needed. Wilhelm had already forgiven him for the startling information, even if he did not feel it needed to be apologized for, it was only a matter of fact.
Silently Wilhelm would wonder if he had said too much in pointing out the appeal of the other man. By pointing out how tempting the other male’s lips were to him he could not help but to feel that he’d said to much. The man’s silence was almost unnerving. He could not help but to feel a little as though he had offended the other man . However, he gave another small, gentle laugh. Finding it amusing for himself to be feeling such things, “I feel foolish. I hope that I have not offended you.” he stated to the other male with a look of curiosity upon his soft features.
A certain amount of joy came to light Wilhelm’s features as the other male’s demeanor seemed to lift once again. As if a weight were drawn away from the very shoulders that were tempting to wrap in his own arms. What am I thinking? Have I gone mad? He would think to himself though the thought would pass just as quickly as it had arrived. Even if Wilhelm had those fears deeply buried within his heart he could not fish them out any longer. Not in the presence of this man. There was something about him that drew him to want to be near him. He might have believed it some sort of charm, or spell, if it had faded for even a second. However, such was not the case and he could give no reasoning other than a of simple nature. Wilhelm needed to know Ryley. To know him in any way the other man would allow him to do so. Wilhelm took note of the other man’s hands pressing to the stall doors, had he startled him, was he the one who was most afraid? Wilhelm could not identify the reasoning for the other male’s reaction at that point, but he did not see fear and because of this reason he hoped that it meant there was none to worry over. Could a vampire even feel fear?
It felt as though his smile was permanently etched upon his lips at this point. The way that Ryley leaned into his fingers made him almost melt. What was it about such a gesture that made him only want to touch the other man further? It did not help that he’d been longing for such gestures for some time. It felt like it had been a millennium since he’d even laid a hand on another person. Let alone spoken with one for more than a moment’s time. Though this time it was much different, this time it was a vampire he wished to know more of, not a human.
The sight of the other man’s perfect manicure made him a little jealous. His own was not as perfect as he would have liked it to be, given that he often had to climb, or use his hands his own nails refused to stay in perfect length though he did keep them equally as clean. “ I see.” he began seeming a little worried at first. Though when the other man assured him that he knew of a better place he seemed quite relieved and his expression wrote that emotion quite well. His smile returned to his lips as he admired the other male’s smile much more, “Please show me. “ Wilhelm followed him, of course, with little hesitation though much caution. He sincerely hoped that Ryley was right about this new location.
Despite being merely human Wilhelm’s movements were quite graceful. A grace that came with many years of learning how best to avoid being seen by the tracker. He knew that he was running out of time, but part of him still refused to give up that hope he clung tightly to. No matter, for now, he would accept whatever knowledge the other man would pass to him. About himself, about his kind, or even silence so long as he did not have to be without his presence there. He walked with Ryley, closely, as if he were afraid someone would pop out from a corner to capture him off guard.
Wilhelm took hold of the key that was offered to him before he stepped into the room. Sure it might not have seemed like much to Ryley, but to him it looked to be the most comfortable place in the world to spend the night. After all, a week upon stone and wood would leave anyone wishing for a bed of hay, not just himself. He entered the room after Ryley, giving a small smile, and a relieved sigh. “It’s perfectly fine. A man cannot complain of hay when he has laid upon stone and wood for weeks on end.” he assured the other man. Wilhelm grinned a little silly in manner as the other man wrinkled his nose. How adorable can this man be? Wilhelm felt somewhat smitten.
Wilhelm felt a little awkward watching the other man pull those blankets from the drawer. He had started to move to help him, but it seemed as though he had a handle on it. The sight amused him and he found a small sound passing his lips to express his amusement. It wasn’t quite a laugh, but it was amused in it’s tone. He closed the door gently the moment Ryley plopped down on the blanket. Not because his intentions were crude, but because he did not want to be exposed to those fears a moment longer. Once the door closed behind him the tension seemed to leave him. Wilhelm moved over to the woven blankets, lowering himself down beside the other man, sitting with his back to the same square of hay. “It’s perfect.” he stated observing the other man. Wondering if he knew just how wonderful his presence was.
Wilhelm sat beside Ryley not because he had to. Not because it was his place in this new world’s society to sit there, but because he desired to sit near to him. It was because he desired to be close to him. “Anything?” He breathed out as he gave a small laugh. Leaning his head back to the bail a bit as he gave a thoughtful expression for only a moment’s time. Chewing faintly upon his lower lip as he did so, a habit, but one he didn’t really do consciously. He would speak then with a faint smirk, “I suppose then I should start with the most cliché to get them out of the way. “ Do you drink human blood? “ He questioned as he drew one of his legs up to rest his left arm across lightly. He turned his head so that he could look to Ryley once again.
“How did it happen to you? You were human once right? When did it happen?” he questioned as he curled his fingers a bit. There was much he wanted to know, he felt as though if he did not ask enough to begin with that Ryley might change his mind. “Do vampires, like you, feel emotions like humans do? What purpose do they have in taking away our lives? “ he stated ‘they’ as if there was no way that Ryley could be anything like them. He was far to different from the image that had grown within Wilhelm’s head of what a vampire truly was.

Ryley watched Wilhelm access the room before coming over to sit with him. After Wilhelm spoke of where he had been sleeping lately, Ryley was picturing Wilhelm having to sleep and stay in all sorts of awful places and his brows wrinkled with concern. It was silly of him to think that humans had it easy, because he knew it wasn’t true. To be honest Ryley hadn’t spent much time thinking about what the humans were up to because it made him rather sad. He knew his family was gone and not in any refugee camp or underground, there were times he liked to pretend they were ok…but it was childish to make believe when he knew that they had perished like so many humans had. His cheeks blushed as he thought about how he’d share is soft and warm bed with Wilhelm any time. Given their differences it wouldn’t be possible, but it was a nice idea none the less.
But now he watched Wilhelm with a soft gaze as the human seemed to relax greatly now that they were in a better location. This simple thing made Ryley feel so much better. It was Ryley’s intentions to give Wilhelm the control over the situation by giving him the key to the room. The door could lock from the inside that key was the only way in or out. Ryley wanted him to feel safe and in control of that safety, it just seemed like the right thing to do. The room was to this guest’s likings, this made Ryley’s smile grow a bit bigger. Good. He thought to himself.
Silently Ryley worried that Wilhelm would take a seat father away from him. Ryley was a vampire after all and he knew that it worried his new friend greatly. Friend? Could he call him that already? In his mind, yes…yes he could, but he wasn’t sure exactly how these things worked between vampire fledglings and wild humans. It soothed his nerves when he sat next to him.
Again there was that musical laugh, Ryley hoped to be able to hear that laugh more than just tonight. The moments slipped by so slowly to him as he watched the boy chew his bottom lip while thinking. It caused a stir of longing deep within him that he hand never felt before. Oh the simple things that this boy could do that caused Ryley to become undone! Ryley couldn’t help the slightly nervous laugh that bubbled up from deep within his chest. “Yes, anything.” He gently leaned over to nudge Wilhelm’s shoulder to reassure him it was alright to ask, he didn’t mind at all.
“Oh!...” Ryley brought his hands up to his mouth to stifle the giggles that threatened to come out against his will. “Me?...” He shook his head back and forth sending his blond hair to shake back and forth with the movement. He didn’t mean to make light the seriousness of Wilhelm’s questions; he would have asked the same things if he were in his place, honestly. The questions flowed out and Ryley tried to keep track of them all, his lips pressed together as he listened. That was a lot of questions to begin with, not that he minded, but where should he start. Ryley fished out his chapsitck and applied a bit to his lips and took a moment to think.
His gaze turned back to Wilhelm, his expression soft. “That’s a bunch of good questions…” He slipped his chapstick in the pocket of his vest before continuing. “I think I should start from the beginning.” He nodded a little almost answering himself as if that statement had been more of a question. He wiggled a little in his spot to get comfortable. “I was human once…” He squinted a little not liking how that came out, he still felt quite human…just a little different. “Ok…that sounds silly.” He paused to find the right words. “Something happened to me, like it happens to a lot of those like me.” His blue eyes blinked taking him back in time a moment. “It happened to me at school…I spent a lot of extra time in the music room practicing my cello.” For a moment his expression got a little more serious, his tone a little sadder. “It was late, I was alone…I didn’t even hear her come up behind me.” Ryley suppressed a shudder. “It wasn’t like they tell us, that it’s a pleasurable experience. I mean, I guess it is for some…if they want it to be.” Softly his shoulders shrugged. “She didn’t leave me then, because she wanted me for her own. She told me as much.” Ryley looked down picking at the hem at the bottom of his pant leg. “I didn’t get to answer her…until after she dripped her blood into my mouth….my mouth was so dry.” He wrinkled his nose and sat there for a moment. “She was going on and on how I’d be perfect for her and stuff….” Ryley made a sound that was almost a laugh, always the one to see something funny in his own tragedy. “She wasn’t too happy when I told her I liked boys.” His head tilted a little and he shook it again. It was funny when he thought about it now, at the time though it wasn’t. It was weird how when you look back on things that were so horrible and now you could laugh about them. Why was that? Not the point. He could feel his attention drifting from his original track like it often did. He had one hell of a time paying attention sometimes.
He pulled a deep breath into his lungs, where was he? Oh yeah…the result of that crazy day. “She left me there…my friends came looking for me when I didn’t respond to their texts. I felt….” He paused as he was searching for the right word. “…heavy…slow…sluggish. My head was killing me.” A frown appeared on his face as he started to remember more. “My parents didn’t understand…they fought. This was before the Monarch and all the humans disappearing. They didn’t know what to do with me…I was coughing…a lot…They dropped me off at the gates of the school.” Again Ryley wiggled where he sat. “It felt like I was drowning…the coughing was getting worse. I would have died right there, but a young fledgling girl helped me. Her name was Riley too.” The frown was replaced now by a softer smile.
He looked over to see how Wilhelm was taking all this in. It wasn’t too hard for Ryley to tell him, it was the past, something he couldn’t change and something he could never forget. It occurred to him then that Wilhelm might not know the difference between fledglings and vampires. “Oh….” He placed his right hand on his chest as he spoke. “I’m young…ok, so since I was ‘infected’…” he made little quotation marks because he hated that term so much. “It’s only been a few years, since then all this craziness has happened…humans gone, my family gone…vampires everywhere.” He tapped his index finger on his chest. “I’m not a vampire. Exactly…yet.”
Oh how there was so much to explain. He could have gone on and on, he would do exactly that if Wilhelm wanted him too. He tried to think if he answered the question he had been asked and he got an idea. The perfect way to explain who he was and how he was. “Here…” he reached over slowly to take one of Wilhelm’s hands, if he allowed it. Then he could press that hand against his chest, holding it there gently with his own. If he shied his hand away Ryley would still place his own two hands on his chest anyway to prove his point. “My heart beats…it loves, it aches and it can break.” He looked Wilhelm right in the eyes, his expression one that was soft and pleading for him to understand. “I’m not a monster…” He had only told Wilhelm a lot and yet he could think of many more things that he could still tell him.
Yes, there were many that were horrible, but that number did not include Ryley. It never did and it never will. Ryley knew in the back of his mind that it was greatly a possibility that he wouldn’t make it through the change in a few years when he matured into twenty years old. If he ended up dying and becoming a crimson vampire, he wanted to live out his days being kind…a little part of him hoped that if he was good, then he wouldn’t die…he could continue to be who he was despite the fact that he was a vampire now.
For now he sat there, waiting to see what happened after all that information sunk in with his new friend. Yes, he would call him that…his friend. How could he not be?

Wilhelm didn’t seem to really mind where he slept. To be honest, the fact that he could without being pounced upon in the night made it almost peaceful, and he didn’t mind that. Sure stone was cold and hard, but there were a lot worse places he could have slept. However, the thought of a nice soft bed to lay his head upon made him remember his past when he was able to lay in luxury each and every night. He tried not to think about it too much. Those things had a way of depressing people if they were lingered upon too much.
Wilhelm did not lock the door just yet, no, he did not want to make Ryley feel as though he were trapped if he did not wish to stay. He did not want to assume that the other man would be staying there with him through the night. In fact, he would not assume that until it was that either one of them said or questioned it. Wilhelm could not help but to wish such a thing. That is, that Ryley would stay there with him for that night. He wondered silently for a moment whether or not he would ever see Ryley again after this. He hoped so, but the thought of not seeing him again was almost saddening.
That gentle nudge, the sound of the other man’s voice wound with it, reassured him indeed. Wilhelm felt more comfortable with speaking about his own questions. He could not help himself in asking all the typical questions that he imagined most humans would want to know. How could he resist? He was presented with an opportunity that was rare for any free human to encounter without the loss of their freedom. Yet here he was, as free as could be, with a vampire that was far more human than he’d ever imagined a vampire could be, being allowed to ask all the questions that had been boiling up within his mind.
“Y-yeah you.” Wilhelm would state with a gentle smile. Enjoying the sound of the other man’s laughter all too much. Wilhelm observed him, the way he looked when he was thinking, the way that chapstick slid over his lips. He watched that most of all given that it drew attention to those lips that were far more than tempting to him. Wilhelm would swallow the lump in his throat gained. He wondered if Ryley knew just how attractive he was and just how distracting watching that chapstick slide over those lips was. His body would quiver faintly at a thought that crawled through his mind. Wilhelm silently scolded himself for thinking in such a direction.
Wilhelm smiled a bit, listening to Ryley as he began, shifting a little to get comfortable. He listened to Ryley’s every word. The sound of his voice, the tone in which he spoke, and most of all to the words that came past those lips. Wilhelm’s expression would change with each emotion that the other male spoke with. When he spoke with sadness his features would distort to express a certain amount of sympathy, longing perhaps, wanting to take him into his arms and hold him there until he would smile again. Though a smile would always return to Wilhelm’s lips whenever Ryley laughed, whenever he smiled, or found amusement in his memories.
Wilhelm listened as Ryley explained how he was bitten, about how the blood was transferred to him, how he’d become infected. “Pleasurable?” he questioned. Not really understanding how such a thing could even begin to feel good. Someone trying to draw the life out of you simply sounded frightening to him. Though it made his cheeks flush faintly when he imagined what Ryley would have looked like doing such a thing. Wilhelm shook his head firmly as if to clear it of a thought. Though Wilhelm made a sound when the other male said that he liked boys. That acknowledgement alone made a smile play upon his lips, “She would have been unhappy with me too then.” He added trying to make light of the story with a small laugh. He disliked seeing the other male uncomfortable, that he was sure of, though why was left to be unsaid.
“Riley and Ryley? That’s rather cute.” he murmured as he listened to the man explain further. Though a certain amount of sadness was written upon his features. How could someone do that to Ryley? How could someone just make him sick and leave him there to die just because he would not be interested in them in the ways they wanted? What kind of monster would do that. Wilhelm’s brows furrowed a bit the more he thought about it. The more he thought about it the angrier it made him. His fingers curled slightly against the fabric of his pants. “She just left you to die? How could she..” he trailed off in a tone that seemed somewhat distressed assuming that being infected as such lead to death in a way.
Though the moment he was told that Ryley was not exactly a vampire yet he seemed to snap out of that distressed expression. He seemed only to become completely confused by Ryley’s words by that point. “Not exactly a vampire? I’m not sure I understand. Is there an inbetween? Will you stop being as you are now when you are?” he stated with a softer tone. Wilhelm would be quite sad if Ryley lost everything about him that made him as he was right then if he became fully into being a vampire. He wasn’t really sure how that was or if it changed anything at all, but he did know that he did not want Ryley to change who he was regardless. As his hand was taken he felt his own cheeks warm slightly, his fingers sliding over the other man’s chest as they were pressed there by those hands, his eyes holding Ryley’s pale gaze with his own. A smile spread his lips as he laughed softly, “I could never think of you as a monster.”
Wilhelm smiled gently, leaning toward Ryley so that their faces were but inches apart, then he would speak to him softly. Making sure to capture the other man’s eyes with his own as he spoke, “No matter what you are or what you become. I want for you to know at least this: No matter where I go I will always long for you to be there too.” It was true as he spoke it, no other truth existed more than that, he wanted Ryley to know that. Wilhelm’s hand slid upward from where it’d been held, moving toward Ryley’s cheek, if allowed he would gently cup the other male’s cheek in his hand as he spoke. “There is so much I cannot understand about what you’re going through right now. I don’t know whether you drink blood as you are now or if you will when you do become completely a vampire, but I do want to be here for you either way. I will help you remain as you are right now so that you never forget that there is still much human inside of you.” Wilhelm spoke it and it was true.
Wilhelm could not bring himself to think of Ryley in a light that was not good. He was a ray of sunshine and he never wished that light to dim. Wilhelm’s heart pounded in his chest as he shifted a little where he sat as if he couldn’t possibly be close enough to Ryley where he was placed. Wilhelm made one last movement, however, and if Ryley allowed it to come to be his lips would fall upon the other man’s own in a very gentle and very accepting embrace.

Again with the wiggling as he tried to find a way to explain himself correctly. Pleasure. Wilhelm was asking him to explain how getting bitten would be pleasurable. His cheeks turned a lovely shade of red as he tried to explain. “Yeah…like…” He paused adverting his eyes from Wilhelm and down at his hand. “You know like it can feel good, like when someone does something to you that is…pleasurable.” Oh Goddess he sounded so silly and the blushing wasn’t helping. How does one explain a feeling that they do not know completely themselves? There were times that Ryley really missed out because he didn’t understand some things fully. For example there were still jokes and other adolescent type things that he was just still a little too innocent for. He looked up and smiled though went Wilhelm mentioned that he liked boys as well. Lovely.
He had continued to explain how he wasn’t exactly a vampire. Again it sounded confusing and Wilhelm confirmed that what he was trying to say came across that way. Ryley took a deep breath and thought for a moment trying to get his ideas in order before proceeding. “I haven’t changed yet…I mean I have a bit. I’m not like I was before I was bitten, but I’m not done…changing.” He bit his bottom lip while searching for a good way to explain it. “It’s like how a caterpillar is a butterfly yet.” Ok, comparing vampires to butterflies was a bit much, but this was the saw he saw it. “But it will eventually become one, it can’t stay a caterpillar forever.” He gave an uneasy smile, not quite clear if that all came out right so he continued. “Yes vampires drink blood, but I eat food. I actually need food more than I would need blood right now….I prefer the food. When I reach the age of twenty I should change though. Food will be on lower on the list of needs…”
Let’s be honest Ryley could barely bring himself to drink some wine that contained blood, he really was failing at the whole vampire thing. “You know when I change into a vampire. My needs will change.” He wrinkled his nose thinking about the blood. He had been told when you change it will taste good, that it tastes sort of good right now, not that he’d ever had the desire to do it. “That’s if I make it…” what a sad thing to think about. “Some go their entire fledgling stage and still die in the end.” Those lips pouted a little at the thought. “Some don’t stay dead and come back different, not zombie different.” He shook his head a bit. “But a mean type of different…” Oh how he wished things were easier to explain, or that he’d have more time to teach Wilhelm the things he wanted to know.
At least Wilhelm didn’t think he was a monster and that pleased Ryley right down into his soul. A smile replaced the little frown that had graced his lips just moments before. He hoped that he could continue to think of him that way; he hated thinking that he would disappoint Wilhelm in any way. His eyes locked on Wilhelm’s as he drew nearer. His words were lovely but bittersweet. Where ever he would go? It was the inevitable truth. Ryley could not keep him here safely nor could he expect him to put himself in danger just for Ryley’s sake, not any more danger than he already had. It was a fool and dreamer thing to think that this could last forever, as much as he wanted it too.
His eyes wanted to slip closed again when Wilhelm’s hand slipped up to cup his cheek, but Ryley forced them to stay open. He didn’t want to miss a moment with this beautiful creature. Wilhelm wanted to understand, had Ryley been so poor at explaining it? He probably had, what a fool he felt. He didn’t want to lose his humanity just as much as Wilhelm didn’t want him to lose his human ways. It was the plan; at least it was nice knowing that he had someone, weather for a long time or just for this moment that wanted the same things as he did.
Ryley was so completely happy knowing that Wilhelm was accepting of him and that he was able to at least explain things to him, he didn’t know how things could be much better than that. That was a silly thing to think, for as those precious lips of Wilhelm’s pressed against his, he knew that there were other things that could be so much sweeter than just talking. So much better than talking. He accepted those lips, gently parting his and returning the affection. Goddess, had anything felt better in his entire life? Not hardly. It was a reflex for his hands attempt to touch Wilhelm’s chest, before one slowly slid up to his neck, fingers gently would slide into the soft hair at the nape of his neck. He tried so hard not to overcome that wonderful kiss with all the longing and desire that had been building up in him since he first set eyes upon Wilhelm.
There was no way that Ryley ever wanted that kiss to end, but he willed himself to release those soft lips from his monetarily. He took a breath, having realized that his heartbeat and breathing had picked up considerably. It was a glorious feeling. The open mouthed smile he gave was a clear sign that he enjoyed that kiss immensely. He blinked, trying to think of something to say. He should say something, which was the thing to do? Wasn’t it? He just couldn’t help his grinning. “…ah…” breathless, he tried to come up with something, anything. His brain was just too deliriously happy to work. He leaned forward to rest his forehead against Wilhelm’s, as long as he hadn’t moved away. The hand that was gently holding his hair, would move to brush Wilhelm’s hair back and over his shoulder. Ryley noticed how long and soft it was, he liked it very much.
“Can I kiss you once more?” his voice was soft but it couldn’t mask the desire in his tone. Once, twice…a million times he wished to kiss this young man. There were so many things he desired to do in loving tentative ways. For now…he would be very pleased if Wilhelm would at least allow another kiss, so that he may have those sweet lips once more against his. He sat there, heart pounding…waiting…wanting. Wilhelm nearly melted once again at the return of that beautiful color to the other male’s cheeks. It had taken away any questions from his mind about whether or not vampires could blush. After all, in the past lore’s he’d read in novels growing up that was something that they were unable to do. Though there was much of those novels he found to be incorrect in this new world. He was somewhat thankful that the novel’s idea of vampires was not accurate, he didn’t want to know a world where Ryley could not blush, it was just a horrible thought to imagine. “Something… pleasurable? Like true pleasure hm… “he trailed off imagining the sensation. It almost made him curious, almost made him want to experience, but then he reminded himself that such thoughts could end up putting him in a world he was trying to avoid. At least with the knowledge that Ryley liked other males as well he could rest assured that he would not scare off his new found friend with his own preferences.
Wilhelm seemed to take in those words in easily. He wasn’t sure he liked the idea of Ryley changing from what he was at all .Though hearing that he did still eat food more than he drank blood made him feel a little thankful for that fact. Wilhelm chuckled softly at the comparison of caterpillars and butterflies. “Such an adorable comparison, but I must ask. After you change, will it change who you are, will you become more like the ones I fear? Or can you stay as you are right now.” he wondered. He really didn’t want the other man to change into something he would come to fear.
Wilhelm made a small sound as Ryley began to explain further upon the physical change. “If you make it?” he questioned making a horrified expression when Ryley stated that he could die. Wilhelm tensed slightly at the thought of Ryley dieing, “How .. How cruel a thing. Making you live with it for so many years and then you die because of it.” Wilhem made a slightly pained expression. Such a thought was quite painful. It made him glad that he had not yet experienced such a thing and he hoped to never have had to. “me…mean type of different? “ Wilhelm did not like the sound of that. He did not like it at all. Perhaps that explained why other vampires were the way they were.
“I wish you did not have to go through this. What happens…If you do live after that?” Wilhelm had no idea what would happen if Ryley died. He did not like that thought so he hoped that there was a better result in him living after that point. Either way he still had a hard time believing that Ryley could ever be a ‘mosnter’ it was just impossible to even believe. Whether the other male became something mean or something that was not who he really was not right then would be left to the future to see. Wilhelm just hoped with his whole heart that nothing would ever take that ray of sunshine and turn it into something violent and corrupt.
“Do you have fangs as you are now? Or is that something that comes later?” he questioned curiously. Wilhelm did not know where he would go next, or where he would sleep next, staying in the same place for to long was dangerous. He normally would not risk such a thing, but maybe if he had a reason to he would risk some things. However, he did know one thing, even if he did not know where he would end up. What he knew was that he wanted to see Ryley again. Over and over again, he wanted to spend every moment until the day that he became something that was not the man he saw before him right now. However, who could tell what time would bring, maybe one day even that would not matter to him. Would they ever reach that level? It was all a matter of time, but Wilhelm did not like to think about what would happen at that point in time. Regardless he knew something would change and he hated to think it would be for the worse.
Wilhelm couldn’t take another moment of those horrible thoughts. He did not want to believe that there would be a day when the sun would not shine in Ryley’s image. He wanted to create memories with him that they could both share and remember of how much of a human Ryley was right then. “You’re more human right now than many humans I’ve ever known.” he murmured to the other male. Smiling affectionately to him despite his own worries for the other man’s safety, health, and life. What life would Ryley have if he could not be the cheerful man he wanted to be?
Wilhelm’s lips took of that kiss with a passion that had swelled within him since he laid eyes upon that boy. It may have been right, or it may have been wrong, for him to indulge in such things with someone who was becoming what ruled his own kind by force. However, Wilhelm did not care he wanted this with his whole being. Every movement, every sensation, savored as though it were the first and last ever within his life. This lips parting for him allowed him to pass the slick muscle of his tongue between them to capture Ryley’s in an embrace that spoke of everything he was feeling. The hand upon his chest that moved into his hair made a happy sound pass his lips. It was instinct for him as well, for his other arm to slip around the other male’s waist, intending and hoping to pull him closer into his embrace.
If he had been made so silly with happiness from that kiss he might have made efforts to protest it ending. However, when the other male broke the contact it made the lingering taste, the lingering sensation, upon his lips ache for more. Wilhelm had just stolen he kiss of a fledgling vampire and he had enjoyed it more than he had any human in his lifetime. Had the years of running driven him mad? Or was it simply that he could not see this man in a light that was dangerous. Either way the only thing he was certain of was that he did not want these moments to end despite knowing it was inevitable.
“If you do not I am afraid I may go mad.” he stated with trembling lips as their foreheads rested upon one another. “you need not ask permission to take of me anything you desire.” Wilhelm stated in a breathy voice, the desire within it clear, perhaps to clear. He had not really thought over his own words, but he’d meant them. Regardless of what they could imply he simply did not care. Wilhelm shifted himself over that makeshift bedding, so that he would be as close as he could be to Ryley without being directly on top of him, though the thought had occurred to him. He was not yet sure if Ryley would allow him more contact than this just yet.
With that Wilhelm pressed forward, bringing his lips to meet Ryley’s if Ryley did not protest it that is. He would take of that kiss with a heated desire that he had not felt in a very long time.

There was so much about Ryley’s world that Wilhelm didn’t understand and this concerned him. What was it that the humans were telling each other about Vampires? He knew that bad vampires like the few he knew, weren’t really helping their image, but when Ryley was infected vampires weren’t the bad guys. They were mostly accepted and some were important pillars in government and their local community. Of course that all changed when the Monarch took power and the humans quickly became very scarce.
Ryley blinked and looked a little confused. “It’s biology. Some make it thorough and some don’t….you see there was a vampire that changed that. When some die they come back different. Mean and wild. It isn’t supposed to be like that.” He pouted a little. “it just isn’t right….” He searched for what to say next trying to make the situation lighter. “Well…I know there are some that come back and they have been able to hold onto their humanity and they aren’t so bad….they can get a little moody though…” Ryley kind of looked away like he was thinking of those vampires. He did know a few that weren’t so bad. He looked back at Wilhelm, his expression much lighter. “I won’t be bad….Most of our professors at school are nice. There is a tutor that is a really nice guy and…and the drama teacher is super sweet….all azure vampires have kind spirits…” He trailed off, trying not to say anything that might upset Wilhelm. He wasn’t trying to defend what the vampires had done to the humans, but not all of them were to blame.
He was a little lost in his own thoughts when he was asked about his fangs. A giggle bubbled up from deep down and Ryley smiled, running his tongue over his teeth. “Worried I’ll bite ya?” he giggled again, clearly gently teasing Wilhelm. “…they are there...” he tapped his top incisors that looked just like normal teeth but perhaps a little bit sharper. “I’ve noticed they looked sharper than they did a year or so ago…but I’m told they only descend during moments of extreme emotion like…anger….lust…” he smirked a little at the last word.
A sudden serious look passed over his features. “I’d never bite you…” Unless you wanted me too. The last part he added silently in his head, who could blame him for wanting to share such an intimate act with Wilhelm? There was something else that occurred with biting, Ryley got lost a moment thinking about it….imprinting? maybe? He shook himself mentally. Focus, now was not the time to be distracted.
There was no better feeling in the whole universe then the feeling of that first kiss. Ryley wanted more, so much more. He had the desire to place kisses in more places than just this lovely human’s lips. Sure it had been hard to let go of those precious lips, but he needed to take a breath and make sure it was alright to proceed in the direction they might possibly be going. Ryley hadn’t much experience, but he was always a little gentlemen. His heart did a little skip when Wilhelm expressed that he would like to kiss him again and he need not ask permission. Oh really? Ryley smiled and added softly. “and you…have my complete permission…” He looked, really looked into Wilhelm’s eyes. “I want to be with you…here, in every way….always…” such a serious string of words coming from him, but he meant it as forward and quick as they made things seem. He didn’t care and he wouldn’t take them back for anything in the entire universe.
Ryley accepted those sweet lips, parting his enough to enjoy it as they did the last time. His nimble fingers worked at the buttons on the front of Wilhelm’s vest and shirt, if he allowed it. The desire to touch that soft warm skin was overwhelming, and he sought out to satisfy that urge. He would gently tug the other man’s body to rest over him, he didn’t mind it. He would do anything to be closer to him. If he was successful with the buttons, both hand’s finger tips would gently trail all the way down from shoulders to waist. As little experience as Ryley had, he was just going to go with what felt right and hope that was good. He would slide his left hand around to press against the small of Wilhelm’s back. His skin was so soft and warm…just heaven. Again, if he didn’t protest, and Ryley really hoped he didn’t…Ryley’s right hand came up to brush Wilhelm’s hair back, as he did so he would release the other man’s lips…to place soft kissed on his shoulders, gently trailing up his neck…and placing one just on the underside of his chin.
He leaned back just enough to see Wilhelm’s face, searching for some form of approval. There was nothing he wouldn’t do to please him…Ryley prayed silently that he was doing well…. Words: 835 long post steak ish over Muse: Bowchiawowow Outfit: ~*~Outfit~*~ Notes: Man lovin’ <3
