So, apparently Seth was currently being pathetic. Not that he doubted that, honestly. He knew that it was probably entirely true with the way he had been acting lately. He knew that he had been entirely off these past few weeks but could you blame him? If you asked Seth, yes you could. He blamed himself for everything that happened in the past to cause him to be like this. It was his own fault for failing her and being entirely stupid. He was the only one that he could blame for what had happened recently in his life.
But his best friend and roommate, Darius, apparently did not agree with him. He knew that the other red fledgling wouldn’t. Whereas Seth had allowed his horrible morals to waver and be replaced slightly with better ones due to his relationship with Sephora, Darius had never wavered once. He was darker than Seth in many ways and honestly didn’t care. Part of Seth missed those days, when he was an asshole for no reason and saw no reason to feel bad about it. A conscience was just causing him to have serious issues over here, doing things like caring.
Anyway, Darius had decided that Seth had been moping long enough, and that he seriously needed to get his balls out of Sephora’s easy bake oven. They were done, obviously, so it was time for him to cheer up and move on. Seth didn’t really blame him for being sick of seeing Seth constantly just laying there in bed doing nothing but mope about how badly he had screwed shit up, but he also didn’t blame himself for moping. He had done something so horrible, so stupid, so unforgivable…he had fallen in love, and then he had lost her through his own stupidity.
But when Darius suggested they get good and drunk to cheer him up, Seth was far from opposed to that idea. That was something that he entirely approved of because maybe then he would stop fucking thinking. Maybe then he would be able to get himself to get back to the way he was, back to just fucking them and not caring about them, back to his challenges. Maybe, as much as the idea made him want to crawl under his bed and never come out, he would be able to forget about the fact that he had ever known love. And he could forget about Julian’s threat on her life if he ever really told her what had happened that night and how he felt. Maybe then he could be himself again, the asshole he missed.
Or was that not really true? He had begun to wonder that constantly lately. It was enough to drive him insane.
Either way, getting good and drunk seemed like a blessing to him. He could stop thinking and just let go. He could act like an idiot and have an excuse for it. So, with no real effort at all being that the shit was everywhere, Seth and Darius had acquired a few, well probably more like a dozen, bottles of alcohol with blood infused into them so that they could actually get good and drunk. Being that both were red fledglings, it didn’t really surprise Seth that it took all of the bottles, or at least his half, to get him damn well drunk. And, to be honest, Seth could be a serious idiot when he was drunk.
He did things that many would probably see as incredibly stupid. And tonight was no exception to that rule, apparently.
He had seen Seph recently, on accident, so she was still fresh in his mind, even through his entire bout of drinking, she had not been far from his mind. Not her wounded eyes, not her hope that had been dashed when he had answered her question with the safe answer so that way she wouldn’t get hurt by Julian who would probably kill her, but instead just him who would make her want to be dead probably because he was breaking her heart. He didn’t mean to break her heart! Honest, it just happened. He wasn’t even sure how it had happened really. One moment she had been a tiny kitten! Then the next there she was, in front of him!
Like magic.
The thought made him grin but then he shook his head, his golden hair flopping about messily across his face before he pushed it away. He shouldn’t be grinning, that had been a sad night, a very sad night indeed. But Seth tended to be a slightly happy drunk, though being incredibly sad before getting drunk was killing the happy buzz of course, now he felt slightly…odd. He wasn’t sure how else to describe it. But he was also incredibly determined to do…something. He wasn’t sure what.
But when his eyes alighted upon her mother’s necklace that sat on his dresser, he knew just what he was determined to do! It would have been a stupid idea had he been sober, but he quite honestly was not. Obviously. One glance his way would tell even someone with a low I.Q. that. Though he wasn’t that bad at hiding it, as long as he didn’t speak, so who knew. He didn’t waver in his movements, only in his speech. SO he was probably about to make a fool of himself, knowing him.
This was her mother’s necklace though. Something that he knew meant so much to her, something she never took off ever as long as he had known her. It even stayed on her when she went all fuzzy. He grinned a bit at the idea of her going all fuzzy, mostly because he knew the state she was in after going all fuzzy. He forced himself to think straight though. She loved this necklace, but when she had turned into a very teeny tiny kitty, she had lost it. And Julian had found it. And being the bastard he was, he had given it to Seth to return. Irrationally, he growled at the idea. He didn’t like Julian.
Anyway, he had been trying for so long to give it back to her, but he chickened out every time.
He was a chicken. A clucking chicken. No, a fucking chicken. But he would do it now! He brightened a bit at the thought and stood, now with renewed purpose in life. He would give this back to her right now. He scooped it off the dresser, and without waiting to see how Darius would react to this idea, he was off into the night. He would get this back to her right now! While he was drunk and thus had courage! Didn’t they call it liquid courage?
Yes!
He was grinning like a fool until he reminded himself again that this was serious business. Then when he was half way there he paused. And looked down at himself. He had forgotten a shirt. How on earth had he forgotten his shirt? She wasn’t going to liiiike that, no, she probably wouldn’t, not one bit. She wasn’t happy with him at all. And he should probably be wearing a shirt to go see her. But he didn’t feel like turning back at all, so he just shrugged and continued walking to the girl’s dorm. Once there, it was easy enough to get to her room, he had snuck in the window enough times because she lived on the first floor. He didn’t even notice all the girls staring at him, and his abs, and arms, with his shirt off. He was a man on a mission!
He was determined to get it back to her this time. No one would be making bets, no sir, not this time. He would do it and he would feel better afterwards because he needed to feel better because he was sick of feeling like crap. And also because it would mean she had her necklace back with her and he really wanted her to have it back. He wanted her to feel better more than he wanted himself to feel better after all.
He knocked on her door once he reached it, hoping that it was her that was in not her roommate, and whispered for her. ”Beeeeeautyyyyy?” he called in what was supposed to be a whisper. He forgot she probably didn’t want to be called that anymore. He just wanted to make her smile if he could. Please?

Dear Journal, things have been so hard since Seth and I, Since you know who and I have gone our separate ways. This is how low I have fallen, cus you and I both know that I don't like writing in you, it makes me feel weak, nor do I like treating you like an actually person when you are so not because people do not have pages or anything like that...What am I saying? It is just so hard without him. I didn't imagine that things would be like this but I am just completely fucking stuck aren't I?
All at once, with that last scribble, Seph slammed her little journal closed and then tossed it underneath her bed. She was zapped back into the real world, where she couldn't just scribble something out in her life and then it would go away. No Seph was here, stuck with grim reality that she could not run from, no matter what kind of pages she decided to hide in, whether it be her journal that Raine had got her, or a novel she had tried reading. She chanced a glance over to a discarded book that was laying on the floor, it lay half open like no one cared about it. Seph cared about it of course, but she had just thrown it out of sheer frustration because no matter what she did, She could not escape her thoughts. She could not escape the truth, no book heroines could help her out here, she was utterly alone.
So she had decided to take a shower, she figured that she might be able to just wash away everything even though she knew that it wouldn't work, she had tried so many times before when all of this had first started, but that didn't matter much at that moment. Seph had spent an hour in the shower before she realized that not only was this not going to work, it was making her hands become pruned from all of the saturation, so she had wrapped her towel around her and went right back to her room. She had dried off and dressed and sat down and tried to write.
Here she was, hair still completely wet and laying down one of her shoulders from the shower, and in nothing but a shirt. She looked down at it and had mixed feelings. She frowned a little but at the same time, there was a fondness spreading within her when she looked down at it. The shirt was Seth's. She had taken a great many of his shirts over the course of the time when they had been together. She had pretended that she was going to give them back all the time, but the fact of the matter was Seph was never going to give them back. She would sleep in them that night, because the scent of him would comfort her...
Admitting that almost made her sick, she frowned deeper and turned her attention away from the shirt. She didn't need to sit her and make herself sick with how pathetic she was. Her blue eyes looked dully out into the middle distance as she tried so hard not to think of the nights when she fell asleep so happy because of the fact that she could sleep in his shirt. She had accumulated a few of them, so on nights when she knew Raine would be getting back late or not coming back at all for whatever Reason, Seph would throw on Seth's shirt for comfort, pathetic comfort.
She shook her head and stood, feeling the urge to just pace. She really shouldn't be mourning the loss of him even though she still was. It was all his fault anyway, he had made it clear that she was not something that he wanted now or ever, so why should sit there and mope about someone who had never even cared in the first place? Wasn't stupidity supposed to be doing the same thing and expecting different results? No different results would come from the events that had already transpired, it was all already set in stone unfortunately.
Even though she had seen Seth, she frowned and cringed at the thought. Oh she had seen him alright, she had seen him weeks ago after it happened. They had fought and she had actually hit him which was something Seph never though she would be capable of doing since all she ever did was long to be around him and touch him. Things still did not go well though, no things had not gone well at all. In the end Seph had run off heartbroken, perhaps more so then she had been with no comfort at all. She didn't even have her mothers necklace because she had lost it in the blasted fucking nightmare house.
She ran a hand through her wet tangled hair and tugged down on her shirt a little, not that it was going to cover much anyway. She sighed. Even though she did not have her mothers necklace, everything would still be okay, she was sure that everything would be just fine, even if she was also heart broken and alone wanting desperately to jump out the window...not that it would have done any good being that it was a first floor room but the sentiment still stood.
She sighed and was going to decide to try and clean up Raine's side of the room as to take her mind off of this whole mess but when she did she heard a knock and a muffled sounding voice coming from the door. Now who the hell could that be? She thought as she padded her way barefoot over to the door so that she could see who it was. Seph didn't get visitors much anymore,
When she opened the door, she was stunned. She literally stood and there and just looked at him. What the hell was he doing here? She gulped a little and looked at him, taking in the whole picture of him as he stood there, Same hair, eyes and beautiful body all there for her to see. She frowned, she wished that he would have a shirt on. It would make it a lot easier to remember all of the pain that he caused if he wad completely clothed and she was not getting completely distracted by his extremely impressive physique.
"Seth? What are you doing here?"she asked in a small voice. She had intended for it to come out much bigger, but she noted that a lot of things she intended had not come true around him. She frowned, what was he doing here though? She moved backward not so much voluntarily, but it was more do to the fact that her body was responding to the Seth it knew, and the Seth that it missed, and lets face it, She would be lying if she had said that she didn't miss him because she knew that she did.
Seph looked at him then and noticed something off about him, with the conversation that they had recently she did not think she would be seeing him like this at all at this time, or at any time really. He looked sorta happy, she frowned. Had he come to gloat that he found someone better than her or something? She gulped trying not to anger, she did not want to wake the snow leopard anymore than anyone else.
"Was there something you needed?"she asked again, it was more code for please tell me you are here for something good. Seph didn't dare get her hopes up about it though, there was no way that any of this would be good.

Seth was drunk. There was absolutely no question about that whatsoever. He was so far gone that he should have probably stayed back in his room because he was most likely about to make a fool out of himself and possibly ruin the very, very slim chance he had of getting back together with Seph. The person, the sane person, that lived inside of his mind knew this. But the boy was drunk and he was fully aware of this. So he was probably about to make himself sorry that he had come here, he would probably make a fool of himself.
Oh well.
He had made his way to the girl’s dorm, minus a shirt might I add, and had easily made his way to Seph’s bedroom. He hadn’t even noticed the other girl’s staring at him. He had a body, this was a fact he was very aware of. He didn’t have muscles for miles like his best friend, but he had a damn good physique and he was fully aware of it normally. But right now, he was on a mission that he was determined to complete. He was going to attempt to put things right, at least a little bit.
And this started, in his mind, by giving her back her necklace. The necklace that Julian had given him to give back to her. Because he had a sick and twisted mind like that, that black fledgling. That and he had demanded Seth tell her nothing, which had had him stuck in this limbo with her. Wanting to tell her the truth but too worried that she would be killed to actually tell her a thing. He wished he could, but that wasn’t the point of today! The point of today was to get her her necklace back!
He grinned a bit but then remembered, yet again, that this was supposed to be serious. He knocked on her door and whispered to her through the door, calling her Beauty. Well, he thought that it was a whisper, but it was probably a lot louder than a whisper. He just wanted to get her back her necklace, he had forgotten that he wasn’t supposed to call her that anymore. He really, also, should probably not be drinking anymore either. It made him such a fool, if this little trip of his was evidence of anything at all.
She opened the door a moment later and just looked at him and he returned the favor, blinking. He looked her up and down, unable to resist. He had such an appreciation for her body, anyone with eyes would. She was gorgeous. And drop dead beautiful. Dark hair, beautiful eyes, wonderful body and he could see so much of her legs… He shook his head. No, he liked her spunk more than her body, if he was going to be honest. But he couldn’t deny her body. And then he realized why exactly it was that he could see so much of her legs.
She was wearing his shirt. And he wasn’t wearing one. SO maybe that was where it had run off to? He had to resist the grin, because he was by nature a rather happy drunk. But then he frowned a little bit. Just a tiny one. He wasn’t sure how the shirt he was supposed to be wearing got on her, that didn’t make logical sense, now did it? He shook his head. No, it was just that she was wearing his shirt and he wasn’t. But he couldn’t help the little laugh. ”So that’s where that got to” he said with a little amused smirk.
He forgot she probably didn’t want him being so happy. He couldn’t help himself, he just loved seeing her, and with his inhibitions lowered by the alcohol in his system, he wasn’t holding that part of him back right that moment. He took a step forward when she took one back, not realizing she was doing it involuntarily and instead taking it as an invitation in. He didn’t go much further in, just a step to mimic the one that she had taken backwards. It was only polite, wasn’t it?
He looked around her room a moment, taking note of the fact that her very happy, giggly roommate who had helped him start to try and get Seph back was not in. He frowned a bit at that thought, because that meant that Seph was alone and he didn’t like the idea of her having to be alone. Or did he? If she was alone that meant that she wasn’t with some other guy. He growled softly at even the thought of her being with another guy because he didn’t want her to be with anyone other than him. But at the same time, shouldn’t she be happy?
She did deserve to be happy. He knew that she did, and he tried to logically make that make sense in his head but it wasn’t really logic that made him feel that way. It was his heart. The heart he hadn’t known he had, the one that wanted her happy even if it wasn’t with him. Because he loved her that much, he loved her so much.
Besides, no other man could possibly handle her, he knew that much without a doubt. He was the only one that could do that, and he was proud of that.
The grin was back.
She asked if there was something that he needed and he blinked, coming back down to earth and remembering that he was here, and he was talking to her, and he should focus. He shook his head. ”Oh no, it’s not something I needed. It’s something you needed” he said, his speech slurring slightly as he spoke, but he didn’t really notice. She had reminded him that he was here for a reason! He was here on a mission and he should focus on that.
”I kept trying to bring it back, over and over again, because I knew you needed it, but I kept stopping before I did. Which isn’t good, I should have stepped up. But you…you” he said, looking down at her, into her eyes in fact. ”Are a very scary lady” he finished. Oh dear Goddess he would regret that when he was sober again.
That was why, of course, he hadn’t returned it to her. She scared the hell out of him when she was mad. He usually could ignore that, but she was so pissed off at him. He had been too afraid to bring the necklace to her, too afraid that she would kill him, or tell him that she never wanted to see him again, because she had yet to say that. And he was so afraid of hearing it.

People always said that if there was anything they could change in their lives, they wouldn't. They would say that their experiences were what made them who they were and that had made all the difference. Seph thought they were wrong, if she could take back the events that had happened a month ago, and the event that happened just some weeks ago she would. If she could do that, erase it completely from existence, things might be different right now. She might be different right now, she would be happier that was for damn certain, but more then that.
She wouldn't be alone in her room with this feeling of utter sadness and loneliness growing more and more steadily in her chest each day, she wouldn't be getting pitiful looks from her friends because of what happened, while they dealt with their own dramas from that time as well. Seph would so gladly change everything from when things fell apart, if only she actually knew how to do it. Which she didn't. There was no way to do it, as she knew it, time travel had yet to be invented and even if it had, it wouldn't stop things exactly, she would probably just end up reliving it, something she would never want to do again.
So she was stuck, stuck being sad and wishing things were back to the way things were before the events of the Nightmare house. Seph shuddered at the thought of all that had happened that night. It had been forever, yet she still could not let it go. She had been transformed into a little kitten that night because it was her worst fear to be stuck forever as a cat. She had been transformed and because of that, she had lost her mothers necklace which was the most important piece of jewelry she had ever owned. That wasn't even the kicker though, she had run off to go looking for her friends and see if she could help them but, what she had found was something quite different. She had found Julian, the man who held them captive, talking to Seth, the man she had been seeing. She frowned at the thought, he wasn't her boyfriend but he had felt like he was, they had just never put any sort of label on it because she didn't wanna scare him away. That wasn't important though, it was important that he had been part of that whole scheme, What was important was that Seph had ended that night completely heart broken and bleeding slowly from her shoulder where she had been stabbed...
Seph reached out and touched the spot instinctively. There was a scar there now, a scar to remind her of the fact that she had been so badly hurt, not by Julian, but by Seth. All along she had fought putting her trust in him because she knew what men were like, all long she had been thinking in the back of her head to be careful or she was going to get hurt. She should have listened because, here she was a month after that incident and she was a broken shell of a person. She fucking hated it. It was the only way to describe herself really, she was just a broken little shell that did nothing, and felt nothing, No one could ever possibly dream of fixing her either, because nothing could. Nothing could stop the pain that had not ebbed. Nothing. She felt whiny and pathetic for even thinking these things but she was beyond caring...
And that had been her thoughts as she had been in her room with just Seth shirt on, she just put them on now out of instinct because of how much she missed him. Not that she was going to admit that aloud. She had never even told Raine that she had actually missed him but that was mostly because she didn't need to. She appreciated that Raine pretended to be asleep when Seph was up in the middle of the night crying, but Seph knew the next morning that Raine had been up, they were best friends, there was very little that they could actually hide from one another.
Seph just felt so damn pathetic and she didn't know what to do about it. It wasn't like he was coming back to take back everything that he had said. She had tried that already and to say that it hadn't gone so well was to say the least.
Which was why, when she heard a knock at the door and the sound of someone speaking she had been completely stunned when she opened it and saw Seth standing right there with no shirt on. Of course she noticed that because of the fact that he had a great body and even though she was trying so hard to hate him and move on it was something about him that she hoped would never actually change.
He was looking at her completely oddly though, she raised an eyebrow at him. Why the hell was he looking at her like that? She noticed that he was looking downward, was he looking at her boobs? She was about to yell at him for being a fucking pig when he actually spoke, saying something about that's where that got to and she looked down at herself and closed her eyes tight Shit
This was his shirt that he was wearing, the second that she had opened the door seeing that it was him, she had forgotten all about the fact that she was walking around her room in nothing but a shirt, she felt herself blush and then just looked at him. He had this weird dopey grin, on and she couldn't place why,
"This is mine.."she muttered not all too convincingly, but what was she supposed to do? Be all hey yeah I have your shirt because I am so in love with you? Yeah right. She frowned something was so off about him.
She stepped back and he stepped forward and she frowned. Why the hell was he acting so weird? And then it clicked. All smiley, seemingly loopy in the brain. Seth was drunk. Seph winced and closed her eyes. The mother fucker was drunk. That was why he was here, great, now what was she supposed to do? She wasn't going to send him out like this, not all drunk and shirtless. If she was to be honest with herself it was partially because she didn't want anyone to see him without a shirt on, but that was something that she would have to deal with later. She had said something to him before she realized he was drunk so while he was responding she grabbed him by the wrist pulled him inside and shut the door, it closed with a sort of finality leaving them alone in her bedroom, and tingly feeling on her hand from where she touched him.
Seph always got like that when they touched. Seph always felt like there was fire threatening to eat them alive most of the time, she was attempting to ignore it right now though.
He was speaking so Seph looked at him, trying hard not to look at his chest and his abs and wonder if they still felt the same since it had been so long since she had touched them...
He said it was not something he needed but something she needed and she raised an eyebrow at him, somewhere in the back of her mind she was saying "please say strip tease" but she repressed it. She was mad at him, and besides, he hated her anyway.
He then started babbling on and on about how he had tried giving it back before and then he looked in her eyes and told her that she was a very scary lady and that was why hadn't given it back. Seph blinked. On normal circumstances, she would have laughed in his face for saying something like that but she was so off and kinda weirded out by his obvious drunkenness that she just looked at him.
"You are really scaring me right now...What are you talking about something I need?"she said, crossing her arms over her chest. She was wary of him, this whole situation was weird, What the hell else was she going to do though? She frowned a little, this was probably the closest she would ever come to him again anyway, and even though she knew she wanted to be close to him again, despite being mad, she figured she might as well make the most of what she had.

He was drunk. Seth Horus was horribly drunk. There was no other way that he would have made his way, without his shirt or his sanity, to her dorm room door right then. He had been avoiding seeing her when he was sober, even though he missed her so dearly, so why else would he have made his way here unless he was horribly out of his mind? Of course he was. He had thought it was a good idea to make use of this moment to bring her back her necklace that he knew that she treasured.
It had been tearing him up inside not to get it back to her before this. How pathetic was that? He had scoffed at himself more times than he could count about exactly how pathetic it sounded that he was hurting inside because he couldn’t bring himself to bring her back a necklace. After all the other things he had done to her, why should it tear him up so bad just to have forgotten something like that? But if one knew Seph well enough, one would know just why it was so bad. She treasured it, he knew that she did. So she needed it.
Which was why when he was drunk he knew he could do it. He was a happy drunk, an idiot he called himself when he was sober but he rarely remembered what he did when he was drunk, so it was alright. He tended to black out entirely when he was this far gone into his stupor of alcohol. But she wouldn’t know that, would she? She was probably freaking out as badly as he had been when he had almost given her back her necklace before a good twenty times, to the point that her friends were making bets about it.
It showed on her face, but he was just too happy to see her, in his own drunken way. He was trying to keep himself from grinning, he knew that she wouldn’t appreciate that but he wasn’t entirely sure whether or not he could handle that. He was just too happy right now to be getting this back to her. He though, did, notice something as he looked down at her when she opened the door. Oh it may look like he was staring at her chest—not that he wasn’t to be fully honest—but his words, he hoped inwardly, cleared that up.
He commented, in his own cheery way, that that was where his shirt had gotten to. Not that that made much sense to be honest. He frowned a little bit at himself. It wasn’t the shirt he had been looking for, that didn’t make sense. It couldn’t have magically left his room to end up on her back right when he was looking for it. The ridiculous thought made him grin. She replied, saying that was his and he arched a brow. His face clearly said that he was drunk, not an idiot. He remembered how many of his shirts she had taken when she thought he wasn’t paying attention.
Secretly, he was amused she had been stealing them, back then. And he approved of his scent being on her. He was a red fledgling, instinct was a serious thing for him, and the possessive nature he had shown briefly in Julian’s house hadn’t just been a one time occurrence. He just hid it well. He grinned a bit, a little sloppy but he was drunk. ”Sorry, luv, I call your bluff” he commented, slurring a tad but there was something else about his voice. He had stopped hiding his British accent. That happened when he was drunk, he forgot to work to keep the American accent on.
She grabbed his wrist and he blinked, the instant touch sending fire across his skin, burning. He looked down at it, half expecting to see it on fire, but that was silly. Why would fire burn there? It was just the fire that always built when they touched, the one that he was always afraid would consume him with a whoosh! of flames. He looked down at it, like he had never seen his hand before. How odd. He barely even noticed when she shut the door behind him.
He missed that fire. He wondered what would happen if he tried to feed it. It was always so wonderful to feel it dancing in his veins when they kissed. His eyes darted to her lips for a moment. He remembered how lovely they tasted. Like something sweeter than chocolate or strawberries. Like a delicacy he could dine on happily for the rest of his life and forgo all other things. He blinked and shook his head. Where had that sudden burst of eloquence come from? Silly.
She asked if she could help him. Oh no, didn’t she get it? He wasn’t here for her to help him! He was here because she needed his help. Help he could give her, he needed to give her. He wasn’t going to let his mission be in vein! He felt like a kid, one with a childhood mission, but this one was much more important. And then he looked her right in the eyes and called her a scary lady, one thing that he was very sure would be something he regretted when he was sober. And for a very long time afterwards. If she ever spoke to him again.
No, no, he wouldn’t dwell on sad thoughts!
She said he was scaring her and crossed her arms, and his eyes followed the movement, catching sight of her breasts. He did always love that part of her body, if he were to be honest. Because he was a pig, but he was also male and she was gorgeous. Mostly her face but well, if his wandering attention said anything about what else he loved so about her…
Love, that word again! No, he couldn’t think that word! It was the bad word! It would burn him up, and not in the happy way that touching her did.
Right. Right. Focus. He lifted his eyes back to hers and shook his head. Something she needed, she didn’t get it. He dug into his pocket and held out his fist, his treasure, or rather hers, balled in his fist. He opened his hand just enough that the charm fell from his palm to hang by the chain that he still held curled in his fingers. Her mother’s necklace, the one thing he knew she would be missing. Missing much more than him. She would want that back more than she would ever want to see him again, right? He didn’t doubt that. That was the most important thing that had gone missing that night to her, he was sure.
Because to him, it was her that was the most important thing.
Another sober thought. He frowned, it was dulling out his happy drunken stupor, which he very much liked to have clouding his thoughts. ”I believe that this is something you need, because I’m fairly positive you’d be missing it. Right, Beauty?” he asked her, again forgetting he shouldn’t call her that. It just slipped off his tongue! The word was too slippery to keep in. It slipped and slid into the room like something real off of his tongue.

Seph could not seem to escape her life. She tried and tried but she just could not seem to do it, and sure that sounded completely stupid but it made sense in Seph's head. Most people when times got hard for them, had some type of escape so that they could keep going without having to think and think about everything that was wrong in their lives. Some type of outlet or something, but it seemed that no matter what Seph did, any of her normal things that made her feel better when things were rough, none of them seemed to actually help her at all.
What didn't help even more was that her problem wouldn't go away. Seth. He was here, in her room. She had tried so hard to be rid of him, to get him out of her head and have the pain go with him but it just didn't work. The pain was always there and he was always there. Not physically usually though. Seph hadn't seen him since right after the whole incident at the nightmare house. Where she had tried and even hoped a little that everything in there was a lie and it had been thrown in her face. She had stormed off and cried for awhile, it was not something she wanted to relive, yet here he fucking was in her room.
There was a difference though, this time Seth was completely and undeniably drunk. He had called her beauty, that was a sure sign of him being completely drunk. There was no other viable reason he would call her that. That had been what he had called hr when they were together. They had had a moment that was similar to something in Beauty and the Beast and he had been calling her beauty ever since. He didn't do that anymore though, they weren't together anymore, so he had to either be completely drunk or completely out of his mind.
He had commented to her, saying something about that being where his shirt went and Seph almost freaked a little bit. She forgot that she was wearing his shirt, it just comforted her to have something of his on. It shamed her to say it but it was true, she tried to play it off though, she had tried to make it seem like it was hers and he said that he called her bluff, but his accent had slipped. Seph took a deep breath and tried to steady herself. Accents were a big thing for her, especially his, and he was standing there with no shirt on. She didn't have time lust after him, after all she was supposed to be mad at him for all that he had done which she was. She was really mad, she just missed him as well. Was that so bad?
Yes! Her mind screamed at her, he had done such terrible things to her, and she was going to miss him? What was that about? Two sides of her brain sat there and warred as she pulled him in her room and shut the door. The side that wanted to hate him for everything that he had done to her, and the side that missed him so much and felt that fire hit her fingers as soon as they touched his skin. There was always fire between them, no matter what. Try and try as she might to deny it, she couldn't and she had been trying to deny it since that first night on the beach. She dismissed that memory, what used to make her smile every time she thought of it only made her want to cry and she was not going to cry in front of him right now.
He had said that he had something she needed and she had been so confused as to what. She had stood there and crossed her arms and waited to see what the hell it was he was talking about. He was so obviously drunk, but that didn't stop Seph from taking in the sight of him while she waited for him to get himself together. She looked at the abs that she used to touch all the time, she looked at the eyes that she used to gaze into almost every day while simultaneously trying to do something to make it seem way less mushy, it didn't always work but she had tried. Looking at him now only made her hurt, and miss him. She really just wished that everything was different, even though she knew that it wasn't.
She was shocked out of her thoughts by him speaking and she looked at him, watching him take something out of his pocket and then let it fall a little from his hands. Seph didn't hear what he said next. She was completely in shock, because what was in his hands was something she was pretty sure she was never ever going to see again. She had lost all hope of seeing it and it had made her even more depressed than she had already been.
Her mothers necklace. Her mothers necklace was in his hand. She didn't know what to do, she didn't know how to move or anything. She just...She freaked she ran over to him and snatched it out of his hand and then ran back to where she had been standing. It was real, it was in her hand, She closed her eyes and held it close to her.
"Thank the goddess...you had it this whole time..."she said softly cradling it to her chest. Then on an impulse that she hadn't intended on actually going with it but she was just so wrapped up in the fact that she had her mothers necklace back that she ran over to him and hugged him close to her.
The whole time her mothers necklace had been safe and she didn't have to worry about it now. Wait...she thought to herself as she hugged him half to thank him and half because she loved the feel of the burn as she touched his skin. If he had it this whole time...why the fuck did he not tell her?! She moved back from the hug, sort of reluctantly and stared at him, then slapped him on the shoulder.
"You had my mothers necklace the whole time and didn't tell me? Why the hell didn't you bring it back to me? Didn't you know that I was going to be missing it? It's my most prized possession Seth!"She yelled. She was mad at him, not much but she was. She was more just so happy to have her mothers necklace back, she could kiss him. She looked up at him and then at his lips and dismissed the thought, she couldn't kiss someone who obviously didn't want her. She tried not to sigh, she had her mothers necklace back, so for the first time in awhile she really needed to just be happy.

Seth was not in his rational mind. Not like that was really a surprise, not honestly. Ho could it be when he was so obviously drunk? And who was really in their right mind when they were drunk? Though people often said that people that were drunk often spoke the most truth because they weren’t limited by their inhibitions or something and all of that, he still wasn’t in his rational mind. But this was the only time that he could possible do this, he knew that.
He had tried over and over again to do it while he was sober. He had gone to her door more times than he could really count. He had almost knocked on her door a good twenty times and that was just this week. People were actually taking bets about how long it would take him to do it! He was just chickening out over and over again but partially it wasn’t his fault if you asked him. If she wasn’t as scary as she was then he wouldn’t be afraid to do it! There, now that made sense to him, it did. Mostly because it meant all the blame wasn’t on him.
He knew how much it meant to her, he knew that he had to get it back to her as soon as he could because she would be freaking out. This was her most prized possession and here he was with it in his pocket because Julian had given it to him. The bastard had known that Seth would be hesitant to go near her when he had screwed up things so royally so it had been a good idea if you were thinking like a bastard. Which he assumed that Julian often did.
But then, then he had gotten royally drunk, and he did mean royally drunk and that had given him the courage to do this. Why? Because drunk people had no common sense, that’s why. He thought this was the perfect time because she didn’t seem so scary while he was like this. Still scary, but she seemed more like someone he could handle, he had a bit of that old confidence back when he was being a drunken loon, and she obviously easily noticed that he was being a drunken loon, it wasn’t all that hard to miss, to be honest.
It was when she pulled him in that he blinked. That fire. He used to love to stoke that fire higher and higher if he could, build it up until it felt like it was going to consume the both of them and then bask in the flames. In his drunken state however he mostly wondered if that would just consume him after it magically burst into the flames he could feel under his skin. Like whoosh! But that was silly. He had called her bluff before that had happened, however, accent and all and she took a deep breath.
And he blinked, tilting his head at her. Why was she taking deep breaths? Was there less oxygen in the air right now or something? Maybe he should take a deep breath too. And with a little goofy grin, he did. Nope, no less oxygen then before. So why had she done that? He couldn’t figure it out. Had he been sober, it would have been obvious. But had he been sober he wouldn’t have let his accent slip out in the first place, he was very careful with it because he didn’t want it to sway one way or the other, he’d rather get girls with his wit, not his accent.
She snatched the necklace from him practically the moment that it was out in the open air, but he had expected that. And then she retreated. But that didn’t matter, he was grinning just because of how pleased she seemed—and shocked of course—to have it back with her. How happy that was, that she had it back. He felt strangely pleased to be able to make her happy like that and he watched her with it for a moment, even if it seemed like she might start saying the precious or something like that, something out of that Lord of the Rings movie. The idea just made him grin further.
And then he was entirely shocked out of his thoughts.
Because she was touching him.
He blinked and looked down at her, not expecting the sudden warmth of her body against his and he wanted to wrap his arms around her and never let her leave. He had missed the feel of her body against his, and in his drunken state he almost did because he wasn’t exactly thinking straight, but he had a better hold over himself then that, and he didn’t. But he did hug her back.
Oh it felt wonderful, absolutely and completely wonderful, to have her right there, in his arms again. But he knew it wouldn’t last, and it didn’t. She smacked him. On the shoulder but still! He blinked down at her, slightly wounded because he wasn’t doing the most fantastic job of keeping his emotions to himself like he usually did when he was sober and in full control of his actions. She had hit him after he had gone through all that to bring it back to her. How mean. He didn’t appreciate that.
But he had already said she was a very scary lady, hadn’t he?
She yelled at him and he hung his head a little, just a little bit. And then still with the British accent in his voice because he couldn’t figure out how to make it come out of his voice right that very moment, he spoke to her. ”I couldn’t because…like I said, very scary” he said, making a little grumpy face at her. But then he saw her look at his lips and on reflex he licked his lips slightly. That made him remember another reason.
That reason was locked up tight and it was never supposed to come out, not out into the open air. But he couldn’t help himself, he wasn’t in his right mind and it was most certainly about to show. He got a little bit closer to her again, once more closing the distance between them, and in slurred but still soft words he spoke. ”Plus, getting close to you is dangerous” he said softly. ”So many things I want to do but I can’t, so many things I want to say but I can’t. Because I will not let the Shadow Man hurt you again” he said, with a strange fire in his voice at the last bit, almost like his feral side had come out.
But the real kicker was about to come, because drunken Seth had absolutely no inhibitions and totally forgot that Seph had—literally—a beast under her skin that didn’t appreciate being messed with. He leaned closer to her, until he knew she could probably feel his breath on her skin, his head was angled towards hers, and he gently put his hand on her cheek to tilt her head up, hoping she wouldn’t pull away right then because Seth was like a man possessed, he wasn’t even sure what he was doing. He was caught in a trance. ”But this…this is the thing I want to do most” he whispered before he pressed his lips to hers, and did so deeply, with all the pent up aggravation of having to stay away, all the pain of what he had done to her, and most of all…all the love he was trying so hard not to feel for her poured into it.
He was going to kick himself in the morning.
But right then…it really didn’t matter.

Seph hadn't expected Seth to show up that night but it didn't matter because he did. Now what was she going to do? Seph remembered the days when she had control over her life. If Seph was going to be honest though, the last time she had actually had control over her life had been before her mother died and that was long ago now. Her mother had been gone since before Seph hit puberty, everything after that in her life had been a curve ball that she had tried to hit and just swung at it and missed. Seth was the biggest curve ball ever though.
Seth. She remembered the first day that she had met him. It had been a normal day, a day where she had felt really good about herself she remembered. She had been in the library and she had been studying for her history class and he had showed up, his shadow covering her book. She had been herself, completely standoffish and annoyed at him but some how she had felt relaxed around him. He had even made her laugh, she had yet to experience a guy who could make her laugh the way he did when it had only just been their first meeting. She had just ignored that though.
Things had gotten really intense for the first time, that night on the beach. She always thought about that night, even though the memory gave her such pain to think about now, she still thought about it. Magic had truly been in the air that night. She had been in a bikini and he had no shirt on. She had actually learned his last name that night. She would have laughed out loud about it right now, if it wasn't so painful to think about the fact that it was all just a damn sham.
Things had become more intense after that. Seth had been who Seph lost her virginity too. She remembered that so vividly it was like it was happening as she was standing there looking at him, it only made her blush to think about it. She had wanted him to touch her so badly, she wanted him to be around her and with her and even though she had flipped out a bit about it at first, she was happy about it. She had grown even more happy about it the more that they had done it.
She needed to snap out of it though. It didn't matter anymore. Things had changed. Seth was a dick face now, or was it the fact that he had actually been one all along and she just had been so blinded about how much she cared for him that she didn't see the evil that she was. If she was to be honest, some days she still hoped that it would all just be a dream but she knew better. She knew that all the terrible things that had happened were real.
She hated it, but she knew it. Now here she was, reliving everything just because drunken Seth had decided to show up in her room. He just had to show up and ruin everything by being so hot, and shirtless and using his British accent. Seph forgot a lot that he even had that until he let it slip which since he was drunk he had. It made her take deep breath because she was so thrown off by it. She didn't know what to do with herself when he had that accent.
What happened next though, that had really thrown her. Seth revealed that he had something that she held so dear to her. Seth had her mothers necklace. That was the most important piece of jewelry that she owned. Seph loved that necklace more than she loved anything that she owned. She had thought she left it at the nightmare house that night when everything had gone to hell but it turned out that he had had it the whole time. Seph had been so thrilled that she had run from him with it. She had snatched it from his hand and then run to the corner just to hold it to her chest.
Her mother had given it to her minutes before she died. Seph's mother had never taken the necklace off, it was Seph's now and she felt like one of the large weights she had been carrying around with her ever since that night was now lifted off of her. She had her mothers necklace back, she kept thinking that over and over in her mind and it just made her happy to think of it. Unfortunately this happiness also made her do something stupid...
She had been so happy to have the necklace that she didn't think about what she was doing, She just ran over to Seth and hugged him. She realized the mistake as soon as she touched him, for one he was not wearing a shirt and second the moment that they touched she felt her own skin sear on fire. Every time they touched she felt this fire with him. She felt this fire so deep inside her. She smacked him then though, moving back a bit from him. She was trying to throw off the feeling of the fire of their skin and hitting him and yelling at him seemed like a good idea.
She was mad at him though. She was mad that he had her necklace the entire time and had done nothing to tell her so, so she had yelled at him about it. She had yelled at him because he knew how much that this necklace meant to her.
She looked at him and noticed a bit of a defeated look on his face after she had hit him. She raised an eyebrow at him. She had hit him many times before. Now he decided to look upset about it?
He spoke finally, saying that he couldn't because of the fact that she was scary and she just looked at him. He made a face that made her want to laugh a little bit and she looked at his lips and he licked them and she felt herself blushing. Damn it. She wanted to kiss him. She knew that she wanted to kiss him but she couldn't. Things weren't the same. She couldn't just throw her arms around him and kiss him like she used to and then just play it off. She gulped a little. Didn't he hate her or something any way?
He started to speak again and she looked at him intently. The things that he was saying...they didn't make any sense. Her sapphire eyes looked confusedly at him as she spoke, saying that getting close to her was dangerous. Dangerous? Dangerous how? What the hell was he talking about? He said there were so many things that he wanted to do but couldn't and that he wouldn't let the shadow man hurt her again and her eyes widened. What was he talking about? Julian? Was he talking about Julian?
"Seth? Seth what are you talking about...Julian? Julian is going to hurt me?"
He didn't answer her though, he just looked at her, he seemed to be moving close to her and all of a sudden she felt dizzy. What was going on? What was he talking about? She was desperate to know. He touched her cheek and tilted her face up and half of her wanted to just runaway from him. She didn't know what to do she just looked at him and waited to see what he would do, which wasn't really Seph's style of things but she felt like she had no choice, she was stuck under the spell of being so close to him of being to smell him, of being able to see each line in his face, the face that she loved.
He spoke again, saying that this was what he wanted to do the most and she almost started to talk to see what he was talking about but before she could, he kissed her.
She moaned, he kissed her so deeply and so full of passion that she moaned the instant that their lips touched. Her head was screaming at her, telling her to not let him do this, telling her that he had caused her so much pain how could she actually let him kiss her. She thought was going to pull away, but her body and heart had a different reaction to him.
She kissed him back, she matched his intensity and even more so she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her body up against his. She had missed this, she had missed being around him. She had missed being pressed up against his body. She could savor it for a just a moment...Couldn't she?

Seth would regret this in the morning. If he remembered it in the morning. Seth was drunk enough that chances were he wouldn’t remember a damn thing of this in the next morning when he returned to being sober. He wasn’t always a black out drunk, but from time to time he was. And even if he wasn’t, the chances that he would pretend not to remember a detail of this were extremely high. It was thet type of thing he did, to get out of the responsibility of it. Call him a chicken, well, he was. A clucking chicken.
He frowned, he was doing that again. Fucking chicken was what he meant.
Either way, he had gone all the way to Seth’s room mostly because he was drunk and it was liquid courage and all that, he was officially buying into when people called it that because it was totally true. He had to give her her necklace though. He had been holding it hostage for far too long, and she needed it back because she treasured it. He just had managed to run away every time before without knocking on her door. It was a bad thing. But here he was, holding it out to her.
She had snatched it from him the moment she noticed it and he didn’t mind that, in fact, he grinned. He was happy she was so happy over having it back. She deserved to be happy. He had already gone and made her life hell because he couldn’t resist the lure of being a jackass, so she deserved to be happy in any way she could. And he knew part of that was that he had to stay away, for more than just making her happy—for keeping her alive too.
But h had thought that giving her her necklace was more important. And he hadn’t intended to stay but she had pulled him in, so that wasn’t on him. And now that he was in he wasn’t sure he wanted to go anywhere. He quite missed her a lot before this, for all that he had been afraid to see her. Well, he had seen her before but she had jabbed things into his leg that time. So giving her her necklace was more important than staying away, her happiness right now just plain proved that if you asked him.
And then, before he could really register what was going on, she had hugged him. He hadn’t been expecting it. He blinked down at her, entirely stupefied. He wasn’t sure his reaction would have been any better if he had been sober though, he probably would have been just as dumbfounded as his drunk self. But he eventually did hug her back, just to hold her for that one moment, a moment he never thought he’d get again, no, not after what he had done before to her. He had caused her so much pain…not that he had intended to of course. But it had happened all the same.
He thought the fire was going to consume him, those flames that licked at his skin wherever it touched hers. But it didn’t, he was surprisingly lacking in the burning department, still in one piece, not ashes at all. She smacked him though, and he blinked. He should have expected it, normally he would have. But right now wasn’t exactly normally. He was a little bit hurt but he brushed it off eventually because then she was looking at his lips and he was off thinking about other things, much more fun things.
He had called her scary, because she was scary. Not that he’d admit that at all when sober, but again, Seth could be a bit of an idiot while he was drunk and that was showing. Oh that was showing in a royal manner right about now.
And then he was speaking about other things. The things that he wasn’t allowed to say to her. Oh no, he was going to get her in so much trouble if anyone knew about this. She was not allowed to know that he had been threatened to not tell her the truth, that he still loved her and wanted to take back everything he had said. Oh, not him really. Julian hadn’t threatened him…he had threatened Seph which was so much worse. He would never let anyone hurt her, so he was keeping his pain to himself, he was staying away from her. But he had let it slip. Oh no, he had told her things she wasn’t allowed to know.
He had said it so cryptically though, he had to hope that even if it had gotten back to Julian or he found out, he could argue that she had no idea what he was talking about, and from the look on her face and the things that she said, she really didn’t know. That was good. She couldn’t know. He kept himself from answering her because he couldn’t keep his tongue from betraying him right now.
Besides, he was a little focused on what he really wanted to do. And he got closer to her. He was expecting her to push him away, push him far away because he had hurt her, but he just got closer and she just looked. Maybe she didn’t hate him that much? He could hope.
He expected her to run away when he tilted her face up to meet his own, but she didn’t, she just let him get closer to her and move her. And then he took all his pent up feelings, each and every one, especially his frustration and his love, and poured it into the kiss that he pressed to her lips. She moaned and oh…that noise alone was enough to make him groan in response. He had missed that noise. It was such a wonderful noise that he loved to hear again and again and he thought he never would again.
She kissed him back and wrapped her arms around him which was more than he thought he could ever hope for from her again. It was wonderful and amazing and…just perfect. He wrapped his arms around her and made an appreciative noise for the way her body pressed to his. They had always fit so perfectly against each other, it was an amazing fit and he never realized this before, how perfectly they fit together like two puzzle pieces. He went on kissing her.
And now he really felt like the flames were going to engulf him but he didn’t care, it didn’t matter. He felt like this was the last time he would ever kiss her and this, this he would remember when he was sober even if he forget the rest of it. He wanted to hold her to him forever and never let her go.
But he knew she’d pull away soon. He had been a jackass to hurt her. He didn’t deserve her.
He felt like he never would again.

It amazed Seph how things could just be so thrown out of control. Sometimes things just felt like they were spinning endlessly. Like a vortex that you would just get sucked down into and had no way of escaping it. The aspect was scary to say the least. It was something that Seph was confronted with all the time lately though it seemed. Nothing ever just stopped. Everything spun and spun all she could was wander around dizzily, trying to pretend that she knew when it was going to end. Trying to pretend that she knew how it all it would end, or that it would in fact end. She knew nothing of the sort.
Mostly these days Seph only felt like she knew nothing anyway. She had been over this in her head a million times though. She knew what she had lost, what she had never had though. No matter what though, it just never made anything easier for her brain. It only made things worse for her. Worse because she knew that there was nothing that she would be able to do about any of it.
Life would most certainly be easier if Seth just stopped showing up in her life, at least that was what she wanted to think. She didn't really think about that though, she knew that she didn't really think that. She couldn't.She loved Seth, not that she was ever going to say that out loud. It didn't matter anymore. Even if she really didn't want him gone. Did she have a choice? He seemed to really want to be gone out of her life. At least he had up till now. Had anything changed from the last they had talked?
It seemed it had, if him kissing her was any indication. They were kissing, right now in this moment. While Seph was running these things over and over in her mind, she and Seth were kissing. She felt his kisses like liquid fire that traveled from her lips down to the bottom of stomach, where it settled there a little warm flowing river flooding to other places in her body. She didn't want to admit how much she had missed kissing him. She knew that it was completely obvious. It was obvious in the way that her body stayed pressed against his as if she moved away from him she would surely just fall down and die. It was obvious in the way she had her arms wrapped so tightly around his neck, how she matched his intensity when he kissed her. How little noises escaped her lips.
YesShe thought to herself as she kissed him. This felt right. This felt more than right. It felt perfect. Just like it always did. Kissing Seth had always held some type of perfection that she could never explain and it had been something she longed for every minute that they had been fighting. Seph hated herself for thinking such things, Bad Ass's didn't pine for the kisses of assholes who hurt them. Apparently she did though, so what did that make her?
She could stay wrapped up in his kisses all day, she found herself thinking. The pure silk texture of them were making her head spin, and not in the terrible crazy way her world had been spinning. In the knee melting way it used to before all this terrible stuff had happened. She wanted more. So much more she realized. She wanted everything she had been missing. She wanted to touch him in the way that she used to, in the way that had made every nerve ending on her body zing with delight.
Without thinking further, she placed a hand on his chest after taking it from around his neck and slid her fingers gently down his abs. She shivered. She took a step back and hit her bed and that was what woke her a bit. Her bed. She was about to get in bed with him. He had done wrong, so much wrong. What was she doing? Simply forgiving him because she had physical desires?
With one movement she moved back away from him, yelping a little and landing back on her bed, but at least she was alone. She looked up at him and shook her head. She was just making out with the man who had almost gotten her killed. Somehow when she looked at him though, she didn't see that. She didn't see the man who had gotten her killed. She didn't see what she should have.
Goddess, Sephora, you are going soft...the little thought flitted over her mind and she frowned a little bit up at him. Her lips felt as if they were stung by bees, swollen from kissing his lips. She wanted to do it again. She was being honest with herself because there was no point for her to not be. She wanted to kiss him forever. It made her forget about everything that he did wrong. Everything that went wrong. It made her remember how things used to be.
She was just overwhelmed with emotion. She felt as if she was just going to explode as she sat there and just looked up at him with a deep frown. She was almost tearing up and that made her angry as well. She didn't like that at all. She was Seph, she was a tough girl. She took no prisoners, she just kicked ass. Now what was she? Just some whimpering girl?
Seth was drunk, maybe drunk Seth would give her more straight answers then sober Seth would. He certainly hadn't given her anything that she could use or anything. He only made little cryptic sentences and stared at her. Nothing else, perhaps now though. Now she would get some answers.
"Seth...Why? Why Did you do it? Just tell me, once and for all why." She didn't know whether or not he was going to answer. She was completely scared to find out. She was staring at him she knew she was. Mostly she just wanted to kiss him again and forget that she had even asked him him any question at all. She couldn't do that though. She could not take this back.
"Please" She said again as she looked at him. She didn't know what he would do next, she didn't know what she wanted him to do next. She didn't think he would be ready for it either way.

Seth had been a royal jackass. Okay, well, to be entirely truthful, he was a royal jackass. It was a part of him. It had been for a long while now, he had just been able to hide it pretty damn well. And usually, being a jackass didn’t bother him one wit. He was happy that way. He felt like he was invincible, like he could never be hurt, when he was being a total jackass. Because he didn’t have to feel. And that was okay. He could deal with that. He could deal with people hating him for what he did.
Or so he thought.
That was before he had been a jackass to the one person who really mattered to him, the one person he never wanted to hurt. The one he had hurt so badly he wasn’t sure how he could ever really make it up to her. Not that he would ever get the chance. He had to stay away. He wouldn’t let her be hurt or killed just because he was selfish and wanted her back with him. He completely deserved this punishment that he was completely enduring not being able to be near to her.
She would move on, she would be fine. He would eventually harden his heart and go back to sleeping with women. And pretend it didn’t kill him to see her with other men. He nearly growled at the thought, and with him being as drunk as he was it was a wonder that he didn’t really. It was probably just because his lips were currently preoccupied that the rumble that was supposed to be a growl came out as something a little bit more…well…sexual than he had originally intended when the thought had popped into his head.
Because he was currently kissing the woman he loved.
Oh love.
No.
That was a bad word.
But he couldn’t help the way that it popped into his head, because it was true. He could feel it in the fire that raced through his limbs, pooling and setting off fireworks where her skin, her wonderful delicate skin, brushed against his. It stoked higher and higher each second that her lips were against his, kissing him so deeply he thought he would drown in it before he burnt up from this fire. But that was okay. He wanted the fire more than anything.
Because it was her, it was her pressed against him and responding to his touch in the way that he thought she never would ever again. And somehow he felt the dread pooling in his gut that this might be the last time that she ever did. It scared him, that thought, so he made it go away. The drunk fledgling was a little bit caught up in kissing her and feeling the way that her body fit so amazingly against his. That was more important, that would always be more important. No worries about later. It helped that he was drunk off his ass.
Because, as sad as it sounded, he probably would not have been brave enough to kiss her had he been sober. She was a fierce little thing, and now that she knew about his affinity he was a little bit scared to use it around her, he didn’t want her to think he was controlling her. She didn’t need to think he was more of an asshole than she already did. The level of distaste that she had for him now was more than enough and made him want ot hide in his room and never come out as it was.
Her hands slid along him, tracing fire along his chest and his hands slid to her hips in response, tightening slightly without even thinking about it, he just responded. A soft noise escaped, though it was muffled against the kiss, that was more important. Man he would entirely smack himself if he was sober. And the sad part was he would probably remember nothing in the morning except for the amazing kiss that consumed him just like all of her kisses consumed him. Such a simple thing, touching and kissing, but it made him feel like he was burning up.
She pulled back from him and he made a disappointed soft noise, one he would have never made when sober, at the loss of that warmth, of her touch. She moved away from him and hit her bed, sitting down and he just looked down at her, in a loss. He wanted to go back to kissing her, but one look at her face and he absolutely knew that she wanted none of that anymore. That she probably didn’t want him touching her. He stepped back a little bit, feeling the loss of what they had just a moment ago and knowing it was gone.
He looked down at her question, feeling lower than dirt. She wouldn’t like the answer, oh no she wouldn’t like the answer. That was why he kept avoiding giving it. But he was drunk right now so he coulldn’t really figure out how to keep his damn mouth shut. Without really thinking about it, he fell to his knees, needing to touch her and feeling so low that he just didn’t feel like he was on her level. Drunken idiot that he currently was.
He rested his forehead against her knees and wrapped his arms around her lower legs. He hadn’t meant to, but he just couldn’t help himself. Restlessly he slid his hands along her legs, feeling her skin under his touch. Again he hadn’t meant to but it just…happened. He found himself feeling restless and he just had to. He had to touch her. It didn’t help that she wasn’t wearing pants. Absently he let his affinity loose in the room, nothing strong and he didn’t even realize he was doing it, he just knew she wouldn’t react well to his answer so it happened.
He looked up at her when she asked please and knew he had to. He had to. She said please and she rarely ever did that. He had to. He rested his head against her knees again, like a scorned child and mumbled his answer. ”You’re not going to like my answer.” he mumbled softly.
But then he pulled his face away from her skin to look up at her face again, and for a moment he just searched her face, eyes roaming around her gorgeous features. He wished he could just kiss her again and not answer. She wouldn’t like that.
”You make me good,” he said, answering truthfully. He didn’t think about lying right now. ”I’m not used to being good. I’m never good. The last time I was good I died. And before that I was called scum, not worth it” he said with a little frown, remembering Fae, his first love that had caused him so much pain. She wasn’t like that though. She made him want to be better.
That was where the problems had started.
He looked into those gorgeous blue eyes of hers. He remembered seeing them fill with hurt, and pain, and her basically telling him she wanted nothing to do with him. That hurt him more than anything Fae had ever called him. He never wanted to see her in pain ever again. That was why he should leave, before Julian found out.
He frowned and let go of her legs, slowly, unwinding his arms from her limbs, thinking about leaving. It was a slow process, a reluctant one.
Because…
Well…
He had missed her.

Seph could sit here all night wondering just when things fell apart. Well, it was entirely stupid to sit here and wonder that because she exactly when things had fallen apart. It had just been so much and in such a short amount of time that she didn't know what to do or say about it. Should she do anything about it? What could she do about it? She didn't know anymore and that drove her fucking insane. Seph prided herself on always knowing what to do and how to fix it, well she always knew that for others. For herself on the other hand? She wasn't sure if she knew how to do anything for herself any more. The more she thought about it, the more insane it actually made her. By the end of this all, she was probably going to be locked up in some padded cell some where. If it ended that is...
She didn't want it to, or did she? How the hell was she supposed to know? If she was the silent type she would have had someone else tell her what she wanted because she damn sure didn't know. She wasn't though, so here she was torturing herself. She had been torturing herself ever since it happened. She sighed mentally. Why did he have to go and be such a fucking asshole? Seph hated to admit but she had liked things the way they were. She had liked being with him, he brought out a different side to her, a playful side, a happier side. She was still sarcastic and threatening to cut off his favorite appendage constantly but somethings just weren't going to change.
Seth was here now though, here after the game when he had told her she didn't matter to him. Here after them randomly stumbling upon each other and he crying as he didn't tell her what she wanted to hear. He was here in her room after all of that, he was also drunk out of his mind but hey. There was not much she could do about that. She hadn't asked him to show up drunk at her dorm room. Though she would have been lying if she said that part of her was not entirely happy to see him. That was part of her that she was really trying to push down though. What good would it do her to admit that she was happy to see him? Hadn't she hurt herself enough? Hadn't her hurt her enough?
Through all of this time though, there had been one burning question that she had been dying to ask him. She had thought of asking him the last time that they had interacted but she was a little more focused on trying to get him to take it back and say it wasn't true and then they could work out the rest of it all later. She could ask him now, but some how she had gotten nervous and hadn't asked him. She honestly had not been even thinking about it, but there was a couple reasons for that. One of those reasons happened to be that she was entirely taken aback about him showing up and being drunk and also not having a shirt on.
The other reason had to be that he kissed her.
She was surprised when he kissed her, but she would have to be lying if she said she was not pleased about it. She was entirely pleased about it. Kissing him made her remember what they had and how wonderful it had been and how she knew that she wanted it back, it made her forget all the things that were making that entirely impossible. It was a Win-Win in her book. Even so, all magic must come to an end.
She had pulled away and sat down on the bed and looked up at him. Her lips had been swollen from kissing him and she wished that her brain would stop telling her that she had to ask and let her go back to kissing. But this was Seph we were talking about. She didn't let her body rule her. Her body may have wanted to kiss him but Seph's rational mind needed answers and needed them badly.
So she asked him, wit tears in her eyes. She asked him why. She begged him to tell her why he would do that. She was not expecting the reaction that she got.
He got down to his knees and rested his forehead on hers. Seph raised an eyebrow at him. His face was on her bare skin. This was not good, to make it even worse he then wrapped his arms around her legs and she felt her cheeks burn as he did. What the hell was he doing? She thought about pushing him off but she seemed to be frozen to the spot looking down at him, watching him trying to figure out what the hell it was that he was doing.
When she was about to ask, he spoke saying that she was not going to like his answer. She didn't figure that she would but even so. She had to know. He looked up at her then and she just looked down at him. She looked down into those eyes that she had come to love to see and just waited for him to answer her.
He was right though, she really did not like his answer. He spoke saying that he did it because she made him good and he didn't want to be and that it hadn't worked out for him before or something to that fact. She wasn't focused on it really. She wasn't sure what to do or how to feel about it. She looked down at him and knew that she was frowning deeply. She made him good. So fucking what? So what about the past? Shouldn't he want to be good? She thought he should. She didn't know what to say or do about it. So she looked at him silently. That was until he tried to leave.
She wasn't sure what made her do it, she wasn't sure what made her reach out and grab his hand before he could go but she did it. Before she knew it, her hand was wrapped his his, her skin tingling as always. She looked up at him and then just shook her head at him unsure what to say, not sure if she was going to tell him to go or stay. In the end she did neither.
She let go of his hand and flopped back against the bed. She laid there and covered her face with her hand and spoke finally. "And why is being good so bad? Ugh....Seth you make no sense to me. I honestly can not figure you out and it is driving me insane trying..."it was a little out burst, but she wasn't sure if she meant it in a bad way or a good one.
Making him good was a good thing, it had to be. He didn't seem to think so though, and even though she cared for him and she knew it, there still was the matter that apparently she didn't matter to him at all. She had to try and keep that in mind, try being the key word.

He missed her.
Oh he missed her so much that it ached, so much that he had gone from the asshole who was happy to take his challenges, go after the ones who were strong and make them give into him. He had always adored the challenge. And to him Sephora Taryn had been the ultimate challenge because she was so strong, she was a man hater and everyone knew it. No one had been able to get near her because of that sword of hers and the tongue that cut just as deep as her blade. No one had dared.
And then he did. With his affinity he could keep her calm enough not to want to bolt away from him, not to want to kill him. He went after her the same way he’d go after any challenge before her. But she was different, so very different but he didn’t notice that until he was in too deeply to back out. He didn’t notice how she was changing him, making him not be the first to sarcastically comment, making him not want to tear down other girls the way he had.
And when he slept with her, oh, he just wanted to do it again and again. They had too, they had been locked up in this very room for days, caught up in their own passion and—thought he hated to admit it—love to the point where they hadn’t left bed except to eat. It had been continuous, until they were exhausted and passed out and needed to eat and then they would do it all over again and it had been obviously glorious. He had counted it among the best times of his life.
But then he had begun to notice Darius was right pointing out things.
He was going soft, he wasn’t going after other challenges, he was still with Seph after getting her into bed—something he had never done before. He was turning into someone good and that had scared him. He had tried the whole good thing and nearly died, and then he had tried that all over again and he did die. It freaked him out and it needed to stop. So he had taken up Darius’s offer, he had worked for Julian to get it going again and it had been amazing, to be bad again, to be dark.
Until he had hurt her. Not on purpose, he hadn’t known that she was there. And then he had been avoiding her, because Julian was not allowed to hurt her, she was his. Or at least so the thought popped into his head now as he was drunk and unable to stop it from coming into his head. But it was true, in the deepest part of his mind he knew it was. He wanted her to be hapy, he wanted her to move on but he knew that if she did he would be entirely devastated by it. But she deserved it. She deserved to be with a better person than him. He wasn’t worth it.
But oh, how wonderful it felt when they kissed, oh how sweet her lips tasted. He could get lost in that, could get lost in that passion and that fire that they so often allowed to consume them. But she pulled away, pulled back from him and he wanted to cry out from the loss, as it was he did make a sound that he would have never allowed to pass his lips had he been sober. She didn’t note it though so that was all that really mattered.
She sat on the bed and he kneeled at her feet. He wasn’t entirely sure why he just knew he didn’t feel worthy and he was a little bit more than slightly drunk so he was going to attribute his reactions to that. That made a lot of sense to him, to blame it on the alcohol. He wrapped his arms around her leg, rested his head on her knees. He was restless and he just wanted to touch her, no, he needed to touch her. He couldn’t help himself he just got so wrapped up in it and it made him want to fall apart. The fire, the warmth that spread through him each time they touched…
Her question made him frown though. He let out his affinity without really thinking about it just because he knew that she wouldn’t like it at all and it was an automatic reaction when he knew people wouldn’t be happy with him to let his affinity loose to keep everyone around him calm and not wanting to kill him and such. Always a good idea in his book, not that he had wanted to use it on her after she had found out he could do it.
But some things couldn’t be helped.
He wasn’t going to answer her. He didn’t want to answer her because he knew how she would react to it. But seeing her tear up, hearing her ask him please, he knew that he had to. He just had to. But first he told her that she wouldn’t like it, because he knew that she wouldn’t. She hated when he answered her with things like what he was about to. He knew that because he knew her, he knew her as well as he knew himself.
Possibly better because sometimes he confused himself to no end.
She frowned at him and he wanted to frown too, he wanted to disappear. So that was exactly what he did. He let go of her even though it hurt to do it and made the moves to do just that. He knew he had to anyway, if Julian found out that he had been here bad things would happen and he didn’t want bad things to happen to her, she didn’t deserve to be hurt again because he was an idiot who did stupid things.
But she caught his hand and he frowned a bit, confused, looking down at the hand that was now wrapped up in hers. But then he looked up, looked up at her. What was going on? Why did she stop him, shouldn’t she want him to go? She had been so quiet he had figured that that was what she wanted. And he should go. He should so that way she wouldn’t get hurt because he didn’t want Julian to touch her. He nearly growled. Julian would never be allowed to touch her, to hurt her again. Not if he had his way.
She let go and flopped back and he was still looking down at his hands, not up at her just yet which was good for multiple reasons that he didn’t know. Why is being good so bad? It just was. It didn’t do him any good to be good. He frowned. He didn’t know how to make her understand that. But then he blinked. She was trying to figure him out? Why was she trying to do that, she was still thinking about him? He didn’t deserve even that and he knew it. He frowned.
”Being good has only ever done damage to me, love” he said. Slight slurring involved but nothing too horrible if you didn’t count the fact that his accent was ou tot play. He usually hid it, didn’t want to use it to get women if he could help it.
Ah but then he did look up. And the way she was sitting he noticed something, something he, well, couldn’t help but notice. He was male after all. He blinked and then something else stirred inside him. She was wearing absolutely nothing but his shirt, in their position he could see that quite clearly. It was something he had seen before, but could never tire of, never. But that wasn’t what struck him. What sstruck him was the odd, possessive and slightly feral side of himself, was so primateively pleased that all she wore was his shirt. His.
He was drunk, he would blame that later. But it had more to do with the fact that he was also fully male to be honest. Unbidden, his hands touched her legs again, only this time they slid up, savoring the feel of skin he thought he’d never touch again, sliding up until he was standing and then perched on the one knee pressed into her bed and the other solidly on the ground on the other side of her as he hovered slightly over her, his hands now on the outside of her hips, feeling his shirt on the opposite side of his hands but he was more focused on the lovely feel of her skin. His golden eyes held more than the drunken stupor he was in right then. ”You’re only wearing my shirt” he said, he felt the ultimate need to inform her. He couldn’t help himself. She should probably know that.
He also was entirely distracted by the feeling of sparks and fire under his hands, like always whent hey touched. He’d move off in an instant if she said to, he would never push her, he never had.He had always been careful with her, always let her lead and she was often happy to. But he couldn’t help it. He had missed touching her.

Sometimes Seph had dreams. Well, any person could have dreams but lately all of hers had come in forms of nightmares. Bitter sweet memories turned into the harsh reality of what happened. Those dreams were always pretty clear. Other times, not often but sometimes, she would dream that she was alone near a pool, standing on top of a diving board. It would be quiet and all she would be able to hear was the water making little laps against the sides. Even though there was no one around. She was afraid, afraid to fall in, afraid of what would happen next. The next thing she knew, she would slip and fall right into the water and not be able to find her way out. Like she was drowning, there was probably a metaphor in there somewhere. Seph never really tried to figure out where, but if anything could compare to that dream out of real life? She would choose now.
Seph was standing on the edge, she didn't have a fucking clue what to do at this point. She was half wishing Raine would come back and break the spell that seemed to be flowing around the room at the moment. Though, she didn't really think that would do any good. Raine had liked Seth, she would probably see them in the room together and do nothing to stop it. She would probably giggle and back out of the room, so here Seph was, alone just like in the dream with a decision to make. Sink or Swim?
The fact that they had been kissing was not making her decision any easier. Kissing Seth was always wonderful, something beyond compare. Sure Seph had kissed guys before, she usually tried to stray far away from it but she had done it, none of it. No one had ever compared to the way she felt when she kissed Seth. Not that she was ready to really admit that to herself, or anyone else for that matter. Seph had done her best to try and put his kisses out of her mind since they had broken up, or whatever. She wasn't exactly sure what to call it, since they had never really admitted to being together in the first place. If she hadn't been so upset, she might of smiled at the thought. There relationship was something wonderful. Something that had made her smile each day even when she didn't want to think about it, somehow it was good. Now it was terrible. Now it was nothing but heartache, so why couldn't she just let it go?
She had stopped kissing him and sat down on the bed and had asked him a simple question. Why? Why had he done it? She felt calm as she waited for the answer but that didn't mean much, she could have just been waiting to simply burst at the seams when it turned out to be something that she didn't like very much. She wasn't too focused on it though, because he had wrapped himself around her legs. Her cheeks had reddened and she had stared down at him wondering what the hell had possessed him into thinking that was a good idea but he had done it none the less.
He had been right. She did not like his answer one bit, it didn't make any sense to her. He didn't want to be good? That was his excuse? She didn't understand, like most things about him. She spent so much time trying to figure him out. She spent so much time trying to figure out why he would do what he did and if it was her fault, to turn out that he just didn't want to be good and that she was making him that way?
Even though she found that answer to be quite unsatisfying, still when he moved to go away something made her catch his hand. Something made her stop him from leaving. She didn't want him to go. She hated admitting that. She hated admitting how much he still affected her.
Unsure what to do from that point, she simply let go and flopped back against the bed. She told him that he didn't make any sense and she couldn't figure him out and it was completely the truth. She could not figure him out for the life of her yet somehow she kept trying. He spoke then and she didn't look at him she simply covered her face with her hands. He said that being good had only done him damage. She felt a little surge of anger but quelled it quickly. Lashing out at him was not going to do him or her any good. She had been lashing out at him since this whole thing started and she was tired now. Still she couldn't help a small remark.
"Yeah? and how is being bad working out for you?"Whether he was going to answer her or not she was not sure, she didn't really care for the answer because once again his hands were on her legs, this time though, they were sliding, sliding up her legs and she shivered under his touch. She wanted to ask him what the hell he was doing. She wanted to try and stop him but she couldn't seem too. She was powerless like in her dream, she was drowning in his touch and she didn't want him to stop.
Finally his hands came up to her hips and stopped and she moved her hands from her face to look at him and see the hunger in those beautiful eyes of his. She saw each line of the face that she had come to gaze in so often, and she felt a small pang in her heart, whether it was pain or love she wasn't entirely sure.
He was hovered over her and it was making her positively breathless and then spoke, saying that she was only wearing his shirt. She blinked, confused. Of course she was."What? Of course I am...Didn't we establish that earli-..."she trailed off mid sentence when she realized what he was talking about. Shit. Seph slept in just Seth's shirt all the time, but that was the thing, she didn't wear anything at all underneath. Her room mate was her best friend it wasn't like she thought she was going to get ogled. The proximity of his hips to hers was suddenly to close. She didn't know what to do. Sink or Swim.
She gulped and then didn't respond to him, instead she kissed him. She would kick herself for it later, but she had to. She had to kiss his lips and feel him around her. There was a spell around her room, and at some point it would be broken. She could go back to hurting then. She could go back to hating him or at least trying to hate him then. Until that point, she chose to drown in his touch, to soak up his presence. She chose one last moment of magic, before it all fell apart again.

Sometimes, when he was alone in his room and it was dark and he was moping as he had been quite constantly for the past few weeks, Seth thought things he would never admit to. He thought about how maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to be good. Not that he would ever admit a bit to any of this because Seth prided himself on being the perpetual bad boy, he was the asshole and he was happy about it, it was what he did. He loved and he left, he flirted without any intentions, he had once killed quite freely.
But sometimes he wondered if it would be so bad to be good for her. For this beautiful, sharp tempered, often angry, always smart and witty woman. For the woman he had fallen for when he wasn’t paying attention. The one who had broken his usual routine, and made him forget his usual game because he was far too wrapped up in her to think about leaving. Leaving was suddenly a foreign concept because, well, he was quite happy where he was. She made everything he had ever thought he was stand on it’s head and make no sense.
So, sometimes when he was on his own in the dark with nothing but his thoughts, no wonderful and sometimes abusive woman curled up against his side as she had been so many nights, he wondered this. He wondered if it would be so bad to go good again. He could forget about how going good had lost him his first love, or about how going good had nearly got him killed. He could forget about how he had been good before the man who had taken him in had been murdered and he had been turned just as bad as the murders.
Because that was what she did to him. She made him question himself, and everything he thought he stood for. But maybe that was love. And maybe that was bullshit. But he’d never know because he screwed it all to hell. And now if he told her any of this, told her any of those thoughts or how wonderful he thought she was he would end up getting her killed because Julian would find out somehow, of this he had no doubts, and kill her for it. Because of him. Fuck.
Not that any of these thoughts were in the forefront right now. He was drunk.
But that was why he had gone to Julian, when Darius had suggested it. That was why he had helped. Because she was making him good again and it had scared him, so he had had to make himself be bad again, he couldn’t handle being good it just brought him nothing but trouble. And he had been bad alright, he had nearly helped get the woman he loved killed. He hadn’t known she would be there but was that really an excuse? He knew all her friends were there.
That was the answer to the question she had asked though, and she hadn’t liked it just like he knew she wouldn’t like it. And she didn’t, which he had counted on. He knew her well enough o know that, he knew her so well. He hated that he knew her so well because it meant he also knew she wasn’t doing well with what had happened. Not like he was, but he was always more worried about her. Which was weird. Usually he was worried about himself first. And then everyone else was a bit of a distant thought.
He frowned at her question. How was that working out for him? He was pretty sure if the fact that he was drunk as a skunk said anything it wasn’t working out well. But he didn’t answer her, he couldn’t think about how to answer her sarcasm right now, especially because he wasn’t entirely sure he recognized it as sarcasm in his current state. Instead he just frowned off into the distance like a lost puppy or something of the sort. He was so stupid right now, this was why he shouldn’t be allowed to make decisions when he was drunk. He made stupid ones that landed him here, with her. Not that he didn’t want to be around her because he did! It was more that he knew he shouldn’t. In his current state he was going to slip, and she was going to get hurt.
But that was when he looked up and noticed something. Something that put any thoughts of leaving out of his head. Instead, he was thinking with a very different part of his anatomy. Because she was only in his shirt. She was wearing nothing but his shirt, and that set off the very possessive, very crimson, part of his mind. The part that wasn’t held back because he was, in fact, drunk. And he would blame that later. But right now it set off a fierce sort of pride and possessiveness that she was only wearing his shirt and that was it.
His hands slid up her legs again, along the outside, feeling the wonderful heat and fire that always spread from the place that they touched each other. He could also feel her shiver under his touch and that just strengthened the very male part of his mind he was currently using. He’d totally blame the fact that he was drunk later for this. Eventually his hands settled, possessively, on her hips, and he was leaning over her. His eyes held a sort of heat as he informed her that she was only wearing his shirt. Because he enjoyed this fact very much so. It was most certainly all he was thinking about. He didn’t even really comprehend what she was saying, it went in one ear and out the other.
The only thing it really did was draw his attention to her lips, not that he needed the reminder. He was always thinking about her lips, and how much he adored kissing them. How much he thought he’d never get to again. Yet here he was.
And in that moment, just as he thought it, it happened. It wasn’t like last time when he had kissed her. This time, she had kissed him, taking out the thoughts that she must hate him because, here she was kissing him of her own free will. He would never make a move to pressure her when he was like this, hovering over her, he didn’t want to push her and he never did. Seth always left it to her until she made it clear she wanted it and then he gave up that notion. And right now, he happily gave up and sunk into the fiery kiss that he was sharing with her, his hands digging slightly into her hip and just falling into how amazing it felt to touch her.
He’d worry about the consequences later.
