Julian had been in such a rut lately, he wasn't sure what to do. He had spent most of his time just wandering around his house and trying to keep Imara out of trouble. It was a full time job, but it wasn't enough for him. Julian needed to have the game. He lived for the game. He couldn't though, not so soon. He needed to do something else to fill his time though, he had needed to find an innocent one and he did. Well, at least he thought he did he wasn't entirely sure. He had to talk to her first, which is what he had been working on doing.
He had spent the last few weeks on a sort of stake out. He did this with each and every innocent one he tried to find. He would watch them first, he would try and make sure that they were innocent and that he was not going on a wild goose chase. He needed to be sure that he would get results. He was beginning to feel the rush that he used too, he was beginning to feel like his old self and it made feel happy to know that he may have found someone innocent. Someone who was truly innocent.
So here he was following Seraphi around, he had found out her name easily. Julian was rich and had vast resources, finding out who she was easy. She was also beautiful, that helped him a bit. He grinned a little bit at the thought. Her eyes were beautiful and they glowed. Her hair was long and beautiful. She was perfect. He could see it in her face, he just had to be sure that he was right. So he figured now after these few weeks of just watching her, he was going to speak to her.
Which is why he was following her right now, he followed her out to the courtyard. He wasn't sure exactly what he was going to do. She seemed to be staying in this one spot and he attempted to watch and wait as he decided what exactly he was going to do. It wasn't like he was going to just jump out at her or anything that would be pretty stupid, but he didn't think it would be stupid for him to make it look like he was just casually walking into the courtyard.
It was a beautiful night after all, and it was a perfect night for him to find out if his hunch had been correct. He was sure that he was going to be, but some part of him was making hang back just a little bit more. Perhaps it was the fact that the last game had ended so badly. He hadn't seen the Astraea since then and he wasn't sure that he was ever going to, he was giving up on that cause and that meant that it was entirely time for him to move on and find another for himself to find out. So instead of just waiting around, he smoothed his hair and made sure that his black button down looked great and his black slacks and then he stepped out from behind a bush that he had been hiding behind and cleared his throat.
The moon was large and bright and the light was casting down on him so that he would be clear in view. He was smiling slightly when he stepped out. "Hello"he said softly
'Nice Night"he said happily. He didn't know what else to say because he couldn't come off to strong. He didn't need to scare her away before things even started with them. He smiled and stood there and did his best to come off, as relaxing. It was time to figure it out for sure.

The entire time that Julian had been following Seraphi she was utterly, and happily, ignorant of it. Besides, she was onto far more important things than paying attention to her surroundings and the fact someone was following her. Important things like running errands for Andrew. Now that was important! Because Andrew trusted her to go and do things for him, and Seraphi did not want to disappoint Andrew. Oh no! He was her best friend, her big brother, and she would do anything for him. Because he was her family. Of course her actual family had only consisted of her mother, who died during her birth, and her father, who had abandoned her when she needed him the most. Not that she resented her father, in fact sometimes she got a little worried for him, because he had never come back for her. What if he was still looking for her? She'd have to ask Andrew about looking for him. Of course thoughts of her father were far from her mind.
In fact she was preoccupied, Andrew had told her she could have a pet. A pet! She was terribly excited and the other day she had seen the cutest little baby fox, and she'd asked Andrew if they could get one of those and he had relented. So she was beaming as she wandered out into the court yard after having made her way around the school, telling everyone she knew hello, and meeting those she did not know. She had a bounce to her step, not exactly skipping as she was prone to do, but there was a noticeable bounce that belied her happiness. Of course who wouldn't be extremely happy when you were told you would be able to have a pet. And foxes were so cute! Terribly cute, her inner thoughts had caused her to grin even more, giggle a little bit really, and she soon found herself in the courtyard, which wasn't all that surprising because she frequented the courtyard about as much as she frequented Andrew's office.
She walked a bit further along the courtyard before she seemed to dub a certain spot good enough and plopped down upon the ground. She sat cross-legged, her head tilting up to see the stars of the brisk night. She had thought of finding a tree so that she could climb up and see all the pretty bonds, but she wasn't feeling up to climbing today. She would go some other time, but right now she was content with just sitting here. Besides, a lot of people traversed the courtyard, Seraphi wouldn't be alone for long and then she'd have someone to talk to! That would be good, she enjoyed talking to others. Of course it wasn't just talking to them that she enjoyed, most people had brilliantly beautiful bonds that she enjoyed seeing. Of course there is potential to be saddened if someone's bond was broken or if the bond didn't quite fit. But that didn't stop Aphy from loving those bonds, they were so very pretty, well except for the hate bonds, they were dark and heavy.
But she could see past that easy. She was so very lost in thought that when the man's voice reached her ears she had to blink a couple times, turning her head to peer up at him. And the first thing she noticed was the little bond, one that..wasn't quite strong. And that was it. Her eyebrows drew together as she looked at him, really looked. She hadn't met another person who shared only one bond with someone, and a bond that didn't seem to hold much importance really. She finally looked up at his face and her eyebrows smoothed as she smiled at him. "Hello" He was smiling, which made her smile despite the lack of bonds around him. "I like to see the stars. They're really pretty" She turned her attention back to the stars, beaming up at them as if she knew some sort of secret shared between her and the stars. No secret existed though, she merely appreciated the pretty stares, like she appreciated the pretty bonds.
That this man didn't have. She blinked again, she couldn't help but look back over to him, searching, a sliver of worry filling her. What if she couldn't see them. That thought terrified her truthfully and she could feel the fear, but then she looked back up at his face, and he was smiling. People who didn't carry bonds wouldn't smile would they? No. No they wouldn't. So with that warped logic she calmed herself down and beamed up at him before patting the ground next to her. "You should sit down! It's easier to see them from down here" Or it was in her opinion. It really wouldn't make a difference if you were sitting or standing, but she believed that she could see them just a bit better from her spot.

Julian had always been an interesting child, and by interesting he meant disturbed. From the moment he was old enough, he always demonstrated signs of sadistic tendencies. In the beginning, his parents had barely noticed (this was mostly because they weren't there to watch him but that was besides the point) but it became clear that there was something off about the boy. Since his parents had left him alone so often, he could do whatever he wanted, he started small of course with animals and things like that but it grew so much more.
Though his parents were neglectful, they noticed how wrong their son was. So they sent him to a counselor, Julian easily put off the counselor, showing them that there was no reason to give pause about him and that he was such an innocent little boy. It of course was not true, Julian hurt kids at school and made it look like an accident. Once he was old enough, a young teenager. His parents had sent him off to boarding school, in hopes that it would turn him around and make him not so bad.
They were wrong. Julian excelled in his classes and sports, but he was still mean. He noticed that he could exploit others fears and get away with it. And if he was so good at it, why should he not do it? He continued until it got him into a lot of trouble. So much trouble that he was expelled and sent back home.
Shortly after returning home, he had found out he was adopted. He felt betrayed and had decided he was going to do something about it, he was going to commit the biggest evil of all. He was going to kill his parents, oh it was no easy feat and it took him a full year to plan but still, he did it. He killed them and made it look like an accident.
Now who could love a creature like that?
The corners of Julian's mouth tilted downward as that thought crossed his mind. Not that he wanted someone to love him. Of course not, that was not what this was about. He was not in this for love...He thought of it as more...research. Julian had started his game in hope of finding true innocence, or at least destroying it. So far he had only been able to succeed in destroying it. He was very conflicted when it came to that, he wasn't sure who he really wanted to win. He hated losing of course, but he supposed for once he would like to be proved wrong.
This of course was how he ended up stalking the lovely girl he currently was. There was something about her that filled him with promise, showing him that there was innocence somewhere. This had happened before though, he had found a girl who he thought was completely innocent and he had turned out to be wrong, actually it had happened many times. He had thought that he found the one, and it just wasn't true. His hopes for this had been dashed, time and time again, yet still he pressed on. He hoped that he would find her, he hoped that she was out there. This girl seemed to be lifting him out of the current funk he had been in from the last game so, he thought that had to be something.
He had followed her out to the courtyard and watched her skip the whole way with a smile on her face. She greeted everyone that she passed. He couldn't wrap his head around that, she was just so...so...happy. He had never seen someone so happy. He didn't get it at all, but he was willing to try. Sometimes innocent meant gullible, and that meant that she would probably not perceive Julian as a threat. Not that he planned on threatening her but still, Julian could come off intimidating and scare people away. It was the last thing that he wanted.
So he had stepped out from where he had been hiding watching her, she was sitting down and she turned her head and smiled at him. He was smiling at her as well, there was something warm about her smile. He decided that he liked it. She said that she liked to see the stars because they were pretty and he nodded slowly. He was unsure what to say exactly to that but he decided that he would give it a shot anyway. "The stars are very beautiful...especially on a clear night."He wasn't lying, he really did think that, sadist or not he could still find the beauty in something,
She turned away from him and he watched her as she looked up at the stars again. He looked up too and saw them, some lights blinking some shining proud and unwavering. Pretty, like she had said.
She then asked him to come sit next to her and he hesitated. Not because he didn't want to sit next to her, but well, because he didn't want to get his dress pants dirty. Lame? Maybe but he had spent a great deal of money on these pants and he didn't want to get them dirty. Sacrifices must be made though, he figured.
So he walked across the grass over towards her, his loafers making little noise as he sat down next to her, he sat close but far enough so that he would not seem weird. If he scared her away then that would make things harder for him. He smiled at her and pointed upwards "Well there is the Little Dipper, do you see any others?"he asked with a smile. Then he held out his hand so that she could shake it, trying to project ease "I'm Julian by the way."he smiled more and waited, in the back of his head he was still hopeful and wondering, whether this would be it, or would he be searching forever.

Seraphi would have been completely content on merely sitting upon the grass, gazing up at the stares all by herself, saying hello to anyone that passed by. She wasn't unused to being by herself, and while she didn't particularly mind it was always nice to have someone else around to talk with. So when Julian showed up she didn't think anything other than he would be a nice person to talk too, in fact she invited him to sit down and she beamed when he consented. "I always like coming out here, just to see them, sometimes there are clouds and then I can't, I don't like when I can't see them" She informed him with a curt nod of her head, as if she had told him something extremely important, something to be remembered. Seraphi did indeed like to come out and see the stars, but she didn't like when the clouds covered them up. During the day, when the clouds were big and white and fluffy she adored laying back and laughing at all the funny shapes they made.
But when they blocked out the shining stars, one of the only things that could successfully get her to sit still for more than five minutes and just wonder about them, about how they got there, about where they were going (Because someone told her they moved), about where they had been. Of course Seraphi had hard time believing they moved, because it always seemed like they were always in the same spot as last night, but a friend had told her that, and her friend wouldn't have lied to her. Right? Right. She beamed at him as he pointed out the little dipper, her mouth forming a little 'o' as she followed his pointing finger towards the sky. "Oh! Wellll, I know there's the big dipper! Andrew told me that one and umm" Her eyebrows scrunched together as her eyes searched the sky, she knew more! She knew she did, but they escaped her at the moment and she merely tilted her head as she looked at the stars.
She was torn away from her searching by him offering her hand and for a moment she stared at it. Seraphi didn't shake hands, not because she was rude or she didn't want to, but she'd always given hugs instead. So when he offered her a hand she didn't see it as an offer to shake his hand, she took it as an offer to hold his hand. And if he wanted to hold hands that meant he wanted to be friends. And Seraphi loved making friends so she thought nothing about grasping his hand in hers, not in a hand shake, but as if she where holding his hand, before she looked back up at the stares. "OH! There it is! Look!" She raised her other hand, pointing to the big dipper, because she had found it finally. She didn't think any of her actions were odd or out of place, nor did she think it strange that he had simply wandered up to her randomly that night. Instead she was more than happy to simply accept him as a friend and share her star gazing experience with him.
He offered her his name and she turned her head to smile at him once more, blinking when she realized she hadn't given her name. "oh! I didn't tell you my name! My names Seraphi, but you can call me Aphy, because all my friends call me that" She said easily, making it very clear that she regarded him as a friend and that was that. "Julian. I like that, its a nice name" She nodded her head, confirming that she did in fact like the name before she turned back to the stars, tilting her head back enough that her hair fell out of the way, a content and rather happy expression crossing her face, hardly giving a care that she held the hand of someone she really shouldn't be. Of course, she still had that nagging in the back of her mind, the one that said he didn't have any links and her head turned to look at him again, her expression curious. "How come you don't have links?" Of course, like most times Seraphi talked of her affinity, she was about as cryptic as could be, not giving anything more than that. Julian sometimes wished that he was born normal like everyone else. There was always a question circulating through literature and society...was evil born or made? Julian thought he was the perfect example of evidence that evil was born. He had just been born not like anyone else. As far back as he could remember Julian just liked to hurt people. He could blame his parents who were never there but...he knew it not to be true. He knew that it was him, that he had been born that way. He wasn't going to tell anyone that though. No one would ever get close enough to find it out anyway. Not that anyone had even tried really. No one ever tried to get close to Julian but he figured that was mostly his own fault. He liked no one getting close to him. He did most days anyway, but there were some days, some days where Julian really longed to be normal. Days where he wished that he could form a relationship with a person that wasn't entirely insane or blood thirsty. Of course, then he would come back to his senses.
Julian didn't like to admit this but he knew it was part of the reason that he was so obsessed with Innocent ones. He knew that very well. Innocent women were something for Julian, they were a way to prove him wrong about no one ever actually being able to love someone who was like him. Any time he thought about though it simply made him angry, it made him feel weak. Weakness was not something that Julian tolerated even from himself. He tried very hard to shut off the part of himself. He tried so hard to just look for the innocent ones and not think about why he was doing it. He was obsessed and he knew that but it was so much better for him to not obsess over why he was so obsessed. He stopped trying to figure out his own mind when he was a child and he wasn't going to start again now.
He was happy though, he was happy to have found a new innocent. Which was why he was here. He was in the court yard because he had followed her and since he had followed her, he had been unsure what to do. Julian was very rarely unsure what to do but it seemed to be happening right now. Even still, he went with his instincts.
Somehow he had ended up sitting next to her (in dress pants and Italian loafers) and talking about the stars. He didn't mind having this chat with her. He knew all about the constellations from all of his studies and things, so it was easy for him, and it was easy now for him to get to know her and see if she was worth all the time he had been spending tailing her.
She spoke saying she loved coming out to see the stars and that she hated when the clouds covered them up and she couldn't see them and he nodded. "That doesn't happen that much...and they always go away so you could see them another night."he wasn't sure why he said that, but it just seemed right at the time. She wasn't saying anything that he was really expecting to come out of her.
He had tried to engage her in more conversation by pointing out the little dipper and she got so excited when he did and tried to look for the big one. Julian found himself looking at her with an odd expression. She was just so...innocent. She didn't suspect a damn thing about him when he had just approached her as some random stranger in the dark. Why had she not expected anything? Was she truly that naive? He wasn't sure, but he found himself interested in finding out.
He had offered her his hand, to shake when he mentioned his name and she stopped her search to look down at the hand. Was there something wrong with it? He found himself thinking when she didn't shake it right away. Then she surprised him. She didn't shake it at all. Instead she held it. She was holding his hand. She had found the big dipper but Julian didn't really notice because he was too busy looking down at their now joined hands. He wasn't sure what to do, keep it or let it go? He took a deep breath and decided to keep it.
She turned and smiled at him and it distracted him from their hands. She said that her name was Seraphi but he had already known that. Still he nodded. "That is a beautiful name...very elegant."She said that she liked his name and he just smiled at her and tried not to wonder why exactly she wanted to hold hands with him.
She spoke again though and the question that came out of her mouth was not something that he expected, or understood. She asked him why he didn't have any links. He raised an eyebrow at her. Links? What were links?
"Links? I am not sure what you are talking about Aphy."he said using the nickname, he wasn't kidding he really wasn't sure but safe to say his interest was peaked.

She found reassurance as he told her that it wasn't often the stars were covered, and even when they were they would come out again. She nodded her head to him, her smile spread across her face as she easily accepted this man as friend, comfortable in letting him sit next to her and stargaze with her. "I'm glad, I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't see the stars! There are so many of them, and they are so pretty, it'd be sad if you couldn't see them anymore" Once more she informed him of her thoughts as if they were important, which to her they were. Seeing the stars was something she didn't ever want to give up. It was like with her bonds, if she couldn't see her bonds anymore she wouldn't know what to do. She would probably just cease to exist. They were her life as much as anything else, she loved them as much as she loved Andrew, or loved the stars.
Her attention turned back to the sky, eager to find the big dipper and point it out to him, show him all her favorite stars. She, of course, got lost in the simple beauty of them, successfully distracting her from what they had been talking about and her head tilted back further as she took in the night sky, her mouth falling open to an 'o' as she tried to comprehend just how many stars there were, that there was something up there, that they were so small compared to everything up in space. Only his offering his hand captured her attention enough to tear it away from the sky, for the moment at least. She eagerly grasped his hand, keeping a firm hold on it before her attention drifted back up to the sky. Oh, there it was! She eagerly pointed out the big dipper to him, her hand squeezing his more out of excitement.
He then told her his name, which she decided she liked. By then she'd realized that she had forgotten to tell him her name, how very rude of her. She informed him happily what her name was, making sure to let him know he could call her Aphy if he wanted. She always offered that option to people, most the time if people use her nickname it meant that they really did want to be friends, though of course with her affinity to see bonds it wasn't hard to see if people really liked her or not. Most people did. She blinked as he told her that her name was beautiful, elegant even and she tilted her head to the side. "Oh, thank you! No one's said my name was elegant before" She smiled at him, it was true, no one had associated the word elegant with her before and while she didn't quite get the full meaning of the word, she knew she wasn't exactly elegant.
She didn't much care anyways. He told her that he did not know what she meant by links, using her nickname which pleased her greatly, and her eyebrows furrowed together. They always did when she went about explaining her ability to others. "The links! I see them...they connect people!" Her head tilted to the side, her eyebrows drawing together now out of concern and a tinge of sadness. "You only have one, I don't like that, you should have more" She immediately smiled at him then, scrambling to her knees and scooting closer to him, her expression eager, hopeful even. "You can be my friend! Then we'll have a link! Will you be my friend?" Seraphi was completely and utterly serious, her hopeful expression was enough to proof that.
She liked Julian, despite the lack of links that unsettled her slightly, he was nice, he was here, and he liked her name, told her it was elegant. No one had said that before. So of course she wanted him to be her friend! Tag: Julian Words: 666 Notes: I'm finding irony in the fact there are 666 words and Aphy just asked Julian to be her friend xD

Julian was finding sitting down next to Aphy very comfortable, which he found very odd. Comfort was not a word that Julian ever used to describe any situation he was ever in. He half wondered if that was odd for him, to never have any experience that had ever made him feel comfortable, but then again there was never anything that was not odd about Julian so it didn't mean much. Either way his comfort with her was making him feel really weird. He was just enjoying sitting there and talking to her while he tried to figure out just how innocent she was. It seemed to be pretty innocent, the more he sat there the more he saw this light in her eyes that led him to believe that his intel had been correct and she was indeed an innocent one. If he had been right then he would feel so much better about all the things that had happened to him lately.
She began to speak to him saying that she didn't know what she would do if she couldn't see the stars anymore and he smiled and looked up at the stars with her as she talked about it. "Well, it isn't something that you will have to worry about, the stars will always be there even if they are stuck behind clouds, they are there. It is a scientific certainty."he was being more science like than whimsical but that was just how Julian was, he liked facts. Either way it should make her happy to know that no matter what she would always be able to see the stars.
He looked up at the stars though as they walked about it, and the shone down making his ice blue eyes shine a bit in the light of them and the moon as well. He then looked down at their joined hands and just wondered why she actually wanted to just sit there and hold his hand. Julian was pretty sure that he had never had anyone hold his hand before, ever. Which was probably another weird thing about him that he knew but never thought about because of the fact that he always knew that he was weird. Either way them holding hands was throwing him for a loop but he was letting it happen anyway.
When she had told him her name he had thought that it was elegant. It was, it was not a name he had ever heard before so he told her that was what he thought of it and it seemed to please her greatly, which made him feel weird, almost actually feeling amusement and happiness because of someone else's happiness not usually Julian's MO. She thanked him and said that no one had ever said that her name was elegant before and he grinned at her "Well I do think your name is extremely elegant. I have never even heard it before today."he said to her.
Julian was so confused, he was having a normal conversation with her and it was so odd for him. Julian never had a normal conversation, ever. He was always having a weird or violent conversation so he just wasn't sure what to do. He was going to roll with it but the whole time he knew that he was just going to be sitting there thinking about how weird it was to actually have a conversation that didn't involve blood or dismemberment with someone.
Then she had mentioned the whole thing about links and he had been completely confused. He didn't know what she was talking about, but he figured that she was about to explain. She said that they connected people and that she saw them and Julian understood. He said that he only had one and Julian nodded a little bit thinking about his lack of any connection with anybody. He wasn't sure what to say about it though. He didn't want to say anything to her about it. He didn't want to reveal why he didn't have any connections with anybody.
She surprised him though when she said that they could have a link if they were friends and then asked him to be her friend and then he blinked at her. He didn't know what to say. Friend? Julian didn't have those, he had partners and victims and he never ever had a friend so...what was the harm? If he agreed to be her friend he would see her again and that would be great for his research on her.
"I would very much love to be your friend Aphy, as long as you would like to be mine."This could work, they could be "friends" and things would be great. Things would be better, he would see if she was pure person that he was pretty sure that she was, but then again, who wasn't pure when it came to Julian.
Words; 821 Muse: good Notes; 666 amusing lol, Julian is so thrown by her.
