The soft tapping of ballet shoes across hard ground echoed slightly in the night as the pale, yet flame headed figure strolled into circus tent. A soft innocent smile delicately touched her lips as she handed her ticket over to the ticket counter, and took the torn half of her stub back. She slipped it into her small purse, the frail lace thing swinging gently by her side, tethered with a vibrant red strap. She took a seat precisely in the middle, mingling politely among the other people as she waited for the show to start.
Orchid Merchante had never witnessed a circus before, and was genuinely curious as to what would be going on. She plucked at her flowy sleeved, long dress, arranging it around herself in a decorative display of both its and her beauty. Then as the show started, she smiled at all the right places, gasped when she was genuinely surprised, and applauded when everyone else did. However, as the show finished, unlike many of the other she was not compliment the acrobats or the animal trainers, no.. Internally she was thinking of that ringleader who stood at the center of attention.
Another show did not start till tomorrow, but yet she still wished to have a chance to look at the man who was familiar even to her eyes. She made sure to give him a innocent glance, and soft smile before she disappeared back among the crowd, only to reappear at the bottom of the bleachers, her eyes filled with curiosity as she plopped herself down on the bottom seat. Perhaps, he would be polite enough to speak to her, then again.. Perhaps he was a jerk much like some of the other men she knew.
She rested her chin on the palms of her hands, waiting for him to walk over. It was clear she wasn't going to leave without him coming over. Even if it was only to compliment him and get his signature, and maybe even implant a few choice thoughts in his head. Yes, she could play the role of the perfect little innocent vampire, and she would continue doing so until somebody figured her out.

The last show of the night usually was approached with mixed feelings by the circus as a whole. Some were glad that the day was finally over, that the last show had come and now they could relax, others desired to continue with the rush that performing brought, whether they were acrobats who flew high up in the sky, or dealt with dangerous beasts. The man who ran the show? Well, he didn't much mind either way. There would always be more shows, he'd learned that a very very long time ago and therefore he never worried about the last show, because for him there wouldn't ever be a last show. His gaze cut over the crowd as it started filing into the bleacher seats, his mind was imagining more permanent seats, sturdier and much more comfortable than the metal benches they had. He'd decided that he was going to move the circus to Aurum Sector permanently, he merely needed to discuss that fact with the monarch. Something he planned to do in a few days.
He appeared welcoming, his voice booming through the crowd as he drew them into the circus as the show began, his eyes twinkling with mischief and there was just a way about him that drew you in. Of course, he wasn't a so blatantly open person when the show wasn't running, but his act was so flawless that no one would have ever been able to tell the difference unless they had personally known Matias. And he knew none of those that lingered in the crowd. The show was well orchestrated, they had been doing this for many many years, almost since the country was founded. It wasn't hard to see that each and every member of the circus adored what they did, the Ringmaster included as he entertained the crowd with his silken voice, draw them in and introduce them to various acts, declaring said acts something the crowd has never seen before, and his voice was so very believable. Matias introduced the last act, stepping away into the shadows, watching said act as they performed. His eyes slid through the crowd, noting the people, his mind instinctively wondering how many he could pickpocket and get away with.
Knowing him, many. The final act ended and Matias once more took up the middle of the arena, directing the attention back to him as he thanked the crowd for attending, his deep baritone voice easily finding dominance over any other sound, his voice sincere and his words a bit old world in style, saying out contractions instead of using shortcuts such as I'm, or that's, etc. As the crowd started to rise to leave he spotted the young red-head who gave him a soft smile, her look innocent and he refrained from raising an eyebrow. Matias was good at ruining innocence. As the crowd left he turned and strode to talk with a few of the performers, giving his opinion on things they needed to fix, suggestions for the next act, before glancing back, a glimmer of interest flashing through his eyes as he noticed the young woman on the bench. She had her gaze fixed on him and he did have to admit she was a pretty little thing. So, since she seemed so eager for him to talk to her he strode over, still having that easy-going, welcoming smile on his face, not having fallen out of character just yet.
She looked innocent enough, but Matias has been alive much to long to let first impressions rule his decision on someone. He was living proof that all was not what it seemed, even if he was god damn good at hiding all his nasty, dark habits. He smiled down at her, polite, friendly, inviting. "Good evening miss, did you enjoy the show?" A gentleman, as he portrayed the ringmaster to be, polite, courteous and inviting. He was mildly curious as to why the girl hung back, a few reasons ran through his mind, a few making him internally smirk. But he kept those thoughts from his outward appearance, merely smiled politely, waiting for her to reply to his question. Tag: Orchid Words: 699 Notes: First post with Matias, woot!

As he approached her, she smiled a little bit broader and stood, her eyes looking up at him like big green orbs of perfection. He looked admirable in his uniform, and quite handsome too if she gave it a thought. She covered her red painted lips and giggled softly at him as he asked her opinion of the show. If she was to be truthful, she would say that one of the acrobats needed to pull his uniform out of the crack of his lower back, and that the animal trainer who rode the zebra's hadn't been daring enough in her performance.
However, at this moment in time, she was a perfect little innocent girl who so no wrong in anything. "I thought it was so interesting and the performers did so well, you included sir. However, this is my first circus, so I'm not sure if I experienced all that was typical of a circus. I do hope I did!" she spouted in a soft, but slightly excited voice as she pushed her hair shyly behind her ear.
She paused for a moment, to give him time to perhaps say something gentlemanly like, compliment her or tease her for her shy behavior. Then, she rustled around in her pocketbook and snatched a pen and paper. "Do you think maybe I could have your signature? I'm sorry, but I don't have anything to repay you for it.." she stated softly, looking almost sad as she started to offer the paper and pen to him, but then held back.
This was one of her bait and hook tricks, and so far she believed it to be working quite well. She would fool him into thinking she was an innocent little creature, all eyes and soft voice, and then she would catch him off guard when she needed to, and use him.. Or maybe, she could go ahead and use him now.
She locked her green eyes with him, and tenatively, very gently reached out with her powers as she spoke. Not enough to completely move him like she might want to, but just enough to make him want to. "A kiss would be sufficient for payment, don't you agree." she commanded more than she asked, her eyes unblinking as she stared at him, encouraging him with her powers to take that dip, make that dive into what she wanted.
However, she had a deep feeling she would be caught, and she didn't seem to mind. Perhaps it was power going to her head, the fact that she'd rarely failed before, or perhaps the knowledge that on the outside she still looked so innocent and that if he dare struck out at her, people would fault him. There was things to be gained in being a frail looking, wide-eyed, beautiful woman.

Matias always had a critical eye on his circus, there was always room for improvement and he sought to improve his circus with every single show. He'd noticed a few more things than the girl on the zebra who wasn't daring enough, his acrobats had a small slight slip up in the middle of their act, hidden from most views except for Matias, who was looking for imperfections within the acts. He knew he couldn't expect things to go exactly they way he wanted it too, mistakes were bound to happen, but some mistakes could be avoided with careful planning and enough effort. Which usually paid off in the long run as Matias' circus could be considered one of the greatest circus' around, both back in it's early days and now. He had no problem saying that, proudly claiming that his was the best, because it was. He wouldn't allow it to be anything but the best and no one but the best was allowed to participate within Noctilunos. The circus was, for all intents and purposes, his baby, and he wasn't going to let anyone ruin it.
He chuckled lightly at her shy tone, a soft, warm sound that escaped him as he morphed his polite smile into something warmer, even more inviting than it previously had been. His eyes softened lightly as she complimented his circus, and then told him it was the first one that she had been too. Not out of any real feelings of course, he was an insanely good actor, even his eyes expressed a sort of gratitude at her compliments. "Well thank you miss, I certainly try to make this circus the best it can be" He removed the top hat he was wearing, exposing his dark hair cut relatively short, setting the hat upon the ground. "I like to believe that Noctilunos is everything a circus should be" She was soft, quiet, shy even and Matias was slowly easing himself into the possibility that she was young, that she really was this innocent little thing. It wasn't like he'd never met someone who was innocent like this before, he merely needed to turn and regard Valentina to see someone innocent.
And then she asked for his autograph and while he kept that soft, warm, welcoming look upon his face a bit of suspicion welled up in him. Noctilunos might have been well-known in some places, but he'd never given out his name, he was merely The Ringmaster, he didn't get many people asking for autographs, mostly because the mystery of who The Ringmaster was kept those too meek to find out away. Perhaps that was who she wanted to know though, The Ringmaster, that was who she came to see wasn't it? The suspicion melted as he smiled kindly, chuckling lowly. "Of course you may querido, it would be my pleasure" Another low chuckle followed the first. "Do not worry, I require no payment" And yet even as he said those words she held back the pen and paper, interest as to why flickered in the back of his mind and he was merely going to reach forward and take the pen and paper when her green eyes locked upon his blue ones. He didn't register it at first as she spoke once more.
Suddenly he wanted her to kiss him, his eyes darkening just a tad as she suggested that a kiss be payment. His hand that had twitched just before her power started sneaking its way over his mind, reached up, intent on cupping her cheek, if a kiss was to be payment, then a kiss he'd take. Stepping closer to her he leaned down slightly, she was much shorter than he was. "I do believe it would be enough" His voice had dropped the warm, welcoming tones, instead rumbling deeply, a bit dangerously even as he leaned forward ever so slightly. And promptly forced himself to still. He could feel it, her power over him, he wasn't unfamiliar with feeling the powers of others work over him and for a moment something dark and devious flashed in his eyes before a small smirk twitched against his lips, his head tilting and his own eyes locking on hers. He didn't play around, he didn't push slowly with his power, no he forced it upon her, forced the delirious bliss onto her, watching her until he was completely sure that she would be under his affinities delightful affects.
In this time and age he could consider his affinity that of getting others high, though they were very very susceptible to his suggestions once he had forced that bliss upon them. He smiled, a wicked smile, because she'd be much too high to realize the danger of that curved, dark smile. "It isn't very polite to force your affinity onto others now is it? Perhaps you would like to indulge just why you decided to do so?" His words were soft, spoken lowly, almost seductively as his hand moved from cupping her cheek to gripping her chin, tilting her head a bit so he could get a better look at those pretty green eyes. She better have one god damn good reason for forcing her affinity onto Matias. Tag: Orchid Words: 888 Notes: Here you go (Let me know if you aren't okay with the post ^^)!

She smiled up at him as he leaned forward, clearly taken by her affinity's touch and coming toward her to take his prize. A soft, yet startling cruel chuckle escaped his lips as he descended helplessly into her web. Orchid hadn't expected it to be that easy to steal a kiss from such a prize as the man before her.
She reached up and let her fingers trace his chin as he leaned forward to obviously give her the kiss she had commanded of him, until he paused and she about shit a brick. She should have never expected this to be easy, and now she was going to pay, that is if she didn't hurry up and speak quickly to trap him again.
However, she was too late as a feeling of euphoria filled her veins, much like that time when she got high with her girlfriends in school. It sang in her mind and she felt as if she was drifting away, that is until he asked her a question about why she had used her affinity on him. And thats when she felt a sickening feeling spread through her chest as she tried to spout another lie.
The words wouldn't come out as she planned, and the anger flashed like razor blades in those green eyes. "I was interested in you, and wanted to see how far I could push you before I got caught. It upsets me that I got caught, this doesn't normally happen to me." she suddenly spouted, as she floated in out of her high, and then when she felt the briefest moment of weakness, she locked eyes with him and used the full power of her affinity upon him.
"You should release me from your affinity. Now." she stated calmly before the high rushed back over her again. She wanted to be free of the foolishness so she could make a run for it. Orchid was no fool, she knew was in deep and none of her innocent glances could save her now. So when she stared at him now, though her face remained soft and kind, her eyes were malicious and lethal, something you'd expect from a spider or snake.

He hadn't expected the sudden affinity pushing it's power upon him and he had slid right into it, regardless of realizing it or not. Her fingers brushed his chin and a low growl echoed in his chest before he could regain himself, before he could realize what was happening and force himself to stop, eyes snapping to her own so he could push his own affinity upon her, watching as the high gripped her, though he could see the anger ignite in her eyes. His own eyes harbored a cold cool to them, the warm blue having froze to an icy, chilling blue, fixed on her face as he allowed his affinity to flow through her, grant her bliss, cause her to be more susceptible to him. He was mildly amused that she had caught him off guard so easily, though irritation fluttered up within him. He was not one to merely be used and discarded, he was the one who did that to others, and he had lived much too long to allow some child, for no matter how old she could be, she could not be his senior, to take advantage of him. His grip tightened on her chin lightly and he smiled, pleased, as she answered him.
He chuckled lightly at her answer, amusement freely crossing his face at her words and he gently tilted her head to the side. "It was a rather foolish of you to try and gain control of me before you made sure that it was possible to do so" He tilted his head to the side, still instilling the bliss within her, not yet finished with her, though he wasn't going to do anything to terrible, instil some fear perhaps, but ultimately withdraw his affinity and tell her to go. He did not have the time to spend playing with this girl, he had much more important things to be doing. Her gaze locked on his again and he felt the full force of her power rip through him, and immediately he conceded, withdrawing the affects of his affinity from her, but his hand tightened dangerously on her chin, tilting her head away and tearing his gaze from hers, dropping his eyes to her slender neck. "That was not very polite querido. I will have to ask you not to do it again." His tones were dark, dangerous and he took another step forward, crowding her smaller frame.
Matias wasn't stupid, he knew that a battle of affinities, especially with this affinity of hers, might not turn in his favor. He, however, knew that if it became physical he could easily dispatch her, and no one would bat an eyelash. Mostly because he'd merely suggest that they hadn't seen anything after getting all witnesses under his affinity. A lot of work, but if she pushed him he wouldn't stand by idle. "I would very much appreciate it if you kept your affinity to yourself, it would be a pity if something happened to someone as pretty as you" His words were coated with sweet darkness, threatening yet soft and inviting all the same. And he wouldn't hesitate to go through with his threat. His hand had moved from gripping her chin lightly to holding her jaw, tilting it slightly, keeping eye contact nearly impossible as his gaze flitted behind her, watching the last of the crowd leave. Just his performers now, and none of them would do anything to stop Matias should he deem it necessary to hurt the girl.
But, she had caught him off guard and no one had done that in a very long time, he wouldn't bring harm to her yet. He would, however, make sure she behaved herself. "Oh, and querido? You still owe me a kiss" He murmured lightly to her before letting her go, taking a step back and turning to call for someone, keeping her in the corner of his eye as he stepped to the side to converse for a quiet moment. She sucked in a sharp breath as her mind cleared and she became in control of the situation again. Orchid opened her mouth to tell him something else, only to be silenced when he turned her face away from his eyes and forced himself to stare at anything other than her. She frowned, a small slightly cute thing as he spoke his dark words to her, and she responded simply in a matter of fact way that told exactly how she felt about all of this right now. "I'll try to keep that in mind when I tell you to go walk off a cliff." she stated in voice that sounded sweet on the outside but was dripping with venom on the inside.
She smiled softly when he threatened her, and she gazed at his face out of the corner of her gentle, wide eyes. Of course, it was all about her looks. She may have been beautiful, but there was more to her than a deceptively frail and elegant body. Orchid was not a being to be taken for granted, even by those much older than her young years.
She let him walk away from her, and attend to his performers and she sat upon the metal bench, curling her legs beneath as if she might when she sat in a field. Orchid allowed her long dress to dangle and dance in the wind coming from the exit as she waited patiently for him to return.
However, that didn't mean she wasn't thinking while she waited, twirling a strand of her extremely long red hair between her fingers. She needed to find a way to get back on his good side; it was never good in her rulebook to be on someones bad side, and if kissing him, or more, was the way to get him to start to fancy her again... Well, she would twist and turn till she was in the perfect position with this lovely man.
She sighed and gave him another innocent look, though her eyes gave him a totally different look than her face. Those green orbs were sizing him up, tearing his clothes off, and clawing at his very being. God bless her mother for having so expressive eyes and the fact that she passed down to her monstrous daughter who used them as he own personal weapons. Orchid leaned forward and waited till he approached her again, and gave him a small smile. "Might I inquire as to what your name is?" she asked calmly, not using her power so as not to rile him up. She liked her head securely on her shoulders.

He could not help the deep rumbling laugh in his chest at her words, amusement coursing through him at her little comeback. "Oh querido, it is good to know that you have a sense of humor" Was she ever going to get a chance to press her affinity upon him again? No, no she wasn't and if he had to gauge her eyes out to make sure it never happened again he had no issue doing so. It would be a shame to ruin such pretty green eyes, but she wasn't going to be pushing him around any time soon. He let her go then, taking a step back and turning to one of the workers that was busy taking a few things down and apart. He murmured lowly to him, not once fully glancing back at the girl as he discussed what he wanted done with certain things, what should be left up and what needed to be taken care of first thing in the morning.
Finally after he had finished talking with the man he turned, his gaze falling upon the girl, though he was careful not to linger upon her eyes for too long, he wouldn't let her catch him off guard once more. He chuckled lightly at her question. So she wanted to know his name now? Interesting thought. "You could inquire. Receiving an answer is an entirely different question" He spoke easily, as if she hadn't just tried to force him into anything, not that he didn't mind what she was trying to do, it was the fact that she hadn't given him a choice. He wasn't against kissing a pretty girl, but he was against being forced into anything. But perhaps he would enlighten the girl. "My name is Christian" There was no hiccup, no change in his face, he remained steady as he told his lie.
Of course she wouldn't know its a lie, how could she? She'd never met him before and he was a very skilled liar. "And you? What shall I call you?" He wasn't going to trust her not to use her affinity, she already had already proven that she would be more than willing to use it, and he steeled himself mentally, she would not catch him off guard this time, he had much more time and patience to practice his affinity, to snap it up in the moment he needed it and to push with all its force onto someone. He would be ready next time if she so even dared to try it. Nothing upon his face told her of this internal monologue, in fact he looked rather unbothered by what had just taken place, he looked comfortable and relaxed, an easy smile on his face as he regarded her, before glancing away, there were still things that could be done.
Even if she had garnered some of his interest and attention, Matias wasn't going to simply hand over what little attention and interest he gave people to this girl all willy nilly, especially since she had proven to be a very eager snake. It would be a mistake to think she was done with her games, liars rarely were. He should know. He was one of the best ones out there.
