Griffin Black strolled into his room at the Academy and ran his hand over his face. He had taught a few classes today. He was after all the History professor, teaching classes was kind of part of the gig. He was tired of it today though. It was Friday, he was itching to get to his shift down at Indulgence. It wasn't that he didn't love his job because he did. It was more the fact that after attempting all day to get teenagers to understand the importance of their history and to have it basically fall on deaf ears...he really needed the wind down time. So he was excited to go and start his shift, which started in an hour.
He walked over to the mirror and stared at it, he scrubbed at his facial hair and shrugged a little bit. He liked it. He took a little scissor and trimmed it up a little bit, as to make it look a little neater. He didn't want to dissapoint the ladies by showing up looking unfinished. He grinned a little bit and then brushed his hair down a little bit so that it fell down a little in front of his face, making his greenish brown eyes seem almost hidden. He looked down at his clothes and realized immediately he needed to change. He took off his checkered tie that he wore exclusively for teaching and then the rest of his Professor garb, then walked over to the closet to grab his work clothes, the clothes were mandatory because the owner said so, but Griffin loved them.
The black dress pants with silk trim down the side, made the job look almost professional. He had to wear a black button down a black vest and a black silk tie underneath. All together he looked pretty suave, at least he thought so anyway. He took one final look at himself in the mirror before grabbing his peacoat and then leaving, closing his door behind him.
He threw on his coat and then walked into the cold night air. He didn't mind it much, but he would much rather get to his destination already. A lot of his colleagues thought that he did this for side money. Why would he do that? Even under the mad man Laevinius the professor's still got decent pay. No, Griffin did it because of the atmosphere and the people. It was so alive, and it created beautiful memories for him. That was something Griffin liked. Griffin had the affinity of never being able to forget a thing, and sure that came in handy in his classes and he never misplaced anything, but sometimes it sucked. It also meant that he remembered every bad thing that ever happened to him or anyone else. Anythign he witnessed...he never forgot it and that bothered him.
So Griffin liked the club because he could creat fun memories there. Things that he wouldn't mind playing over and over in his head.
His dress shoes crunched some dead leaves slick with frost from the cold air as he made his way down to the club. He looked up when he saw it, he saw the crazy line to get in and smiled a little bit. It was usually a crazy line like that. Not that he had to wait for it being that he was part of the staff. He walked a little faster the closer he got to the building. He could hear and feel the bass bumping from down the block and he was itching to get inside. He walked up to the bouncers and then nodded and let him, some of the women smiled and winked at him and he smirked a little as he walked through the doors.
That was another good part of the job, the women. There were plenty of them around for him to flirt with or go home with or even to just make friends. He appreciated that. He walked up the stairs to the second floor where he worked and bobbed his head a bit to the music that was playing in the background. This was what he needed, to let loose a little bit.
Sometimes if it was a particularly good night, he would go out and dance with some of the people and let one of the other bartenders handle all the drinks. He hoped this would be one of those nights. Chandeliers with strobe lights hung on the ceiling, casting light on any dancer who got caught in it's beam. Griffin wandered to the mahogany bar and fist bumped the other guy working with him that night. Someone came up to the bar and asked for a drink as soon as he got there so he dropped his coat and sent them their drink right away. The man laughed and grabbed the drink and screamed "Drinks all around!" and Griffin laughed, yeah he was the bartender so drinks all around indeed.
He breathed in the club air, mostly sweat and sex but who cared? He loved it. A good club song came on then and he grinned a bit and moved a little to the music as he did.
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I'm alone
and so I tell myself that I'll be strong
and Dreaming when they're gone
Griffin bobbed his head and looked around at the people who were dancing and having a good time. He wished he was out there, but even from over at the bar he could feel everyone's energy and it was enough to suffice, for now.
