Willow was bored. It happened every now and again, and she always hated when it did. She had woken up that morning in the room that she shared with her twin sister to find that her sister was still in bed, which was no surprising really. Her sister was not a morning person. And every attempt by Willow to wake up said sister was not working which made her want to pout. She couldn’t yell to wake up her sister, and shaking her was doing no good! Willow pouted because that made it seem like she was on her own today, which was no fun. She pouted some more.
Which was weird, being that Willow rarely pouted. Usually she was the sort to grin wide and bounce around. But she hated to explore on her own. She liked playing with her sister but her sister was still asleep and Willow did not want to hang out in their room while she waited, which was what she usually did in the morning. Usually she would happily sketch while she waited for her sister to wake but she had too much energy to do that this morning. She huffed and she pouted.
And then she decided, well, she was just going to get dressed and go. She nodded to herself and went to her closet, going through the many dresses that seemed to just keep appearing in the closet when she wasn’t paying attention—and personally it was starting to make Willow think that it was a magic closet—until she found one she wanted. She pulled on white stockings, her red shoes, and her red ribbon in her hair to match the lovely red plaid dress that she found and then smoothed her hands out over the fabric. Willow dressed herself very well for a seven year old.
She enjoyed color, usually, but she also enjoyed matching and had matching things all over the place after she had “mentioned” that one day. She thought it was silly and couldn’t quite grasp why things she mentioned appeared but it made her think that maybe she was just magic too. She made a soft clicking sound with her tongue until Char—Prince Charming—appeared out from under the bed and scampered over to her. She picked up the tiny ferret and put him on her shoulder where he disappeared to burrow under her hair and poke his head out the other side. She giggled silently and patted the silly ferret. He was always so scared! And Willow was always so bold and fearless.
She picked up her two sketchpads, one being her actual drawing pad and the other being her writing pad, and stuffed them in a black bag, and then pulled the supplies to draw that she wanted out of this drawer or that on her side of the room and proceeded to also stuff that into the bag. She peeked in to it to make sure that it now had everything that she needed and nodded her satisfaction. Then she grinned again to Char, all signs of pouting scattered now that she had a plan and a decision to get out of her room, and left.
Her sister would be fine without her, she nodded slightly and then started to walk down the hallway with Char and her bag. She was so happy to be getting out, to be walking around. She didn’t want to wait for Aoife to get her lazy butt out of her bed. She giggled slightly to herself and started to think about where she wanted to go. Usually when she was going to draw she went to the gardens but she had just done that yesterday. And she didn’t want to actually leave the citadel in case Aoife did need her. She tapped her lip with a finger and wrinkled her nose and eyebrows as she thought—which was really more cute than contemplative—and thought.
Well maybe she would just have to wander about for a bit until she figured it out? She thought that would just have to be what she would do because she had no other choice! She also didn’t want silly guards following her about if she left Daddy’s castle. She hated when they did that, she always had to lose them and then they got yelled at later which wasn’t very nice for the poor guys so she was trying to avoid that. She was being so very nice. She giggled silently with that thought and kept walking. Well maybe she would just have to go to the gardens then. Nothing wrong with that, she quite enjoyed them. They were fun.
She nodded and walked over that way, heading to go to the gardens. Or at least, that had been the plan.
She saw that Daddy’s door to his quarters was open and blinked. Did that mean he was in there? He was usually up even earlier than she was! She smiled, wondering if he was and then peeked in the door. She didn’t see him but that didn’t stop her. She put her hands on the door and pushed as hard as she could until it opened, and then slipped inside. He didn’t seem to be here! She pouted. But oh well, maybe she could find something of his to draw then? She thought that might be fun! She grinned and skipped inside, leaving the door that was supposed to be closed wide open. But she didn’t know that!
She was too busy snooping around his room.

She'd fallen asleep in the library again, lounging in one of the chairs, a book splayed open to the very few last pages. She'd almost gotten through it all, that was the reason she hadn't retreated to her room to sleep in an actual bed. It wasn't an uncommon thing, she was known to read until she literally fell asleep with the book open in her lap. She'd awoken rather early in the morning, her eyes blinking open to the faint rays of a rising sun, her lips tugging down to a frown as she uncurled herself. Her stiff muscles protested as she righted herself in the chair, stretching her arms above her head to work the kinks out of her back. She could still feel a bit of sleep tugging at the back of her mind but she was up now and going back to sleep wasn't going to happen. She looked down at the book she'd put on the chair, leaning to grab it.
The book had been about Anastasia Romanov, one of the only stories in history that really affected Charlotte. For some reason she'd always felt sadness when reading about the Grand Duchess and her supposed escape from her families massacre. The book was about that mystery, and proving that it was a false assumption. Anastasia and her brother hadn't escaped due to the diamonds sewn into their clothes, and she couldn't decide if that was more heartbreaking than thinking of a lonely little girl without her family. She hadn't quite finished the book, which always unsettled her as she didn't like leaving a book without finishing it, but she felt that what she'd read already was enough of poor Anastasia's tragedy. So she picked the book up and slipped it back onto the shelf where she found it the other night.
So she stepped out of the library, padding down the hallway towards where she was supposed to sleep but failed in exchange for one of the plush library chair. She was still a bit sore, she shouldn't have spent the night curled up like she had in the chair, there was a distinct ache in her leg and her shoulders still hurt from being scrunched against the arms chair all night. But she wouldn't complain, she was used to those kinds of aches, since she chose to sleep in odd positions. Charlotte still wasn't quite sure where she was going in such a big place, and quickly found herself wandering around mostly lost. She didn't come across anyone and she was starting to wonder if she'd gotten lost when an open door caught her attention. Curiosity grabbed her and she glanced down the hallway, then back up, before heading towards the open door. She placed a hand on the door frame, leaning her head in to peek in. Her brown eyes swept over the room, which looked to be a bedroom, and a nice one at that.
Her curiosity and slight confusion melted away when she spotted Willow rummaging around in the room. She smiled lightly, the girl was cute, and Charlotte had quickly found herself very much at ease around her. Her enthusiasm was a bit over-whelming to the usually mousy woman, but Charlotte always seemed to feel like she needed to make an effort to be more than just a body in a room when Willow was around. Perhaps the young girl's enthusiasm was contagious. "Willow, what are you doing in here?" Her tone was curious and polite, she wasn't sure whose room it was Willow was rummaging through. But seeing as Willow was the daughter of the Monarch she was fairly sure it'd be okay for the little girl to be in there. She lingered in the doorway for a moment before stepping in, moving closer to the girl. "You know, I'm glad I found you, I actually want to show you something."
She'd been trying to learn sign language for Willow, it'd make conversing with her more simple, especially for Willow who had to write everything out for Charlotte the first time they met. But now she was fairly confident in her ability to understand sign language that she'd at least be able to get what Willow was telling her. She'd found she adored the little girl very much, and was honestly surprised that such a sweet young thing could be the daughter of a rather intimidating man. Of course, she kept that thought to herself, besides Charlotte wasn't one to let her opinions known easily. Most people needed to prod her to get any sort of reaction. A side effect of years of being ignored by her family for the most part and sinking into the background in social interactions. She was just fine with that though, she managed well enough without being incredibly social anyways. Tag: Willooooow Words: 811 Notes: Look at her being so sociable with willow!

Willow was never in her Daddy’s room without him here, though she had never been told that she wasn’t allowed to be in here! He had never told her so, anyway. She didn’t think he had ever yelled at her or scolded her though, she generally got the good side of the Monarch shown to her and she quite enjoyed that fact, she didn’t realize most people found him a bit intimidating because of that. I mean, sure he was a lot bigger than her but he was generally rather soft around her, when it was just the two of them. And whenever anyone else was around, well that was just her game! Or so he had told Willow.
Anyway, she didn’t think he’d mind her being in here! She was just looking for something to do, something to draw, something to distract herself until her sister woke up and she could entertain herself for a while scaring the guards like they usually did. She thought that was funny! But she was just looking perhaps for something to draw as she peeked around the room, peeking under the bed and up on top of it. She didn’t see anything over there though. How disappointing. She pouted and kept peeking around the room.
Char burrowed himself against her neck and she giggled silently. He didn’t like her being in here but Char didn’t like her being anywhere that wasn’t her room where he was free to explore around and not be kept on her shoulder like she always kept him when she was out of said room and she worried he would get away, though she always caught him because he was such a scardy cat! He was easy to catch again, she thought with a little giggle as she kept peeking around.
Her own blonde, cherubic face stared back at her as she peeked up to catch sight of herself in the mirror. She made a silly face at herself which of course made her giggle silently again before she bounced back to hop around and keep searching about. SO far, Daddy’s room seemed like a dud for things to do, though there was the thrill of being in here by herself for the first time in forever. She thought that was an adventure all on it’s own! She bounced and clapped a bit with that before she continued her snooping.
Something caught her attention though, that something being Charlotte, not to be confused with the ferret that was on her shoulder. She beamed happily and waved to the woman, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she did. She liked Charlotte! She was fun to be around, a little shy but that was okay! Most new people around here were, Willow had noticed over the years or so since she had been living here with her Daddy. She didn’t mind, she just kept up with her animated “talking” like there was no shyness to be had in the room with her. That was the way that Willow and her twin operated, they got all excited and barely noticed when others couldn’t keep up.
Either way she really did like Charlotte, she was nice! And her learning sign language too made Willow want to keep learning, though she was still rather behind despite her big brother Angelo’s lessons in it from time to time. She hadn’t been mute all that long, she was still learning at this point in her life but she knew she would get it! She knew enough to hold a basic conversation and it made Willow so excited that someone else in the castle was learning too, it motivated her.
She waved and ran over to Charlotte, happily, Char chittering unhappily at the movement from under her hair. She asked what Willow was doing in here and the little girl shrugged, before tugging out her sketchpad and writing down what her answer was. ”I was exploring Daddy’s room. I’ve never been in here on my own before” she answered with a grin that didn’t do a good job at hiding back the slight mischief in Willow’s “words” about the fact that she had never been in here alone before.
Charlotte said she had something to show Willow, and the mute little girl’s eyes went wide before she was running over to give Charlotte a glomp of a hug, realizing that she had had yet to do that! Which wasn’t okay, she liked Charlotte so Charlotte deserved all the big hugs. Then she pulled back and tilted her head a little bit, in question. What did she have to show her? Willow wanted to know! Willow liked seeing new things or being shown things. It was more about the surprise than the thing itself with her though, because despite the surroundings she had grown up in, somehow she had managed not to get too spoiled by getting everything she could possibly want.

A smile spread across her face as Willow spotted her and Charlotte found herself returning Willow's wave. The girl was just cute, and if Charlotte was being honest with herself she got along with children better than adults most time. Children didn't hold expectations like adults did and they had such imaginations. Charlotte hadn't ever grown out of her imagination and she was perfectly okay with that, a healthy imagination was nothing to be ashamed about. Besides, she loved how she got so into the books she was reading, even the historical kind that weren't really stories but descriptions of things, even those she could imagine in her mind, see the past in her minds eye. She wouldn't trade her imagination for anything. She caught sight of the little ferret that belonged to Willow, who seemed rather unhappy about the girls sudden movements.
Char leaned down so she was more level with the little girl, still smiling while Willow pulled out her sketchpad to write on it, explaining why she was still there. Charlotte blinked, before looking around the room once more, frowning. Laevinus' room? Unease filtered through her. "Is he around?" She doubted she was suppose to be in here, and she wasn't quite sure Willow was suppose to be here on her own. She glanced back at the open door way, as if expecting the tall vampire to suddenly show up, furious that she'd entered his room despite not even knowing that fact. When no figure appeared she relaxed just a bit, turning back to Willow just in time to catch the little girl almost bowling her over in a hug. She wrapped her arms around the young girl, a hesitant smile coming to her face as she returned the hug.
She'd told Willow she was going to learn sign language for the young girl, even as Willow herself was learning, but she hadn't mentioned it since then. Smiling she leaned back, unwrapping her arms from the young girl so she could use them. Her eyebrows drew together as her mind raced to remember what she'd learned from reading about sign language. The memory came easily and soon her fingers were moving. Hello Willow, how are you today? Her gaze had been on her fingers, but once she was done signing to the young girl she looked at her, beaming, hoping Willow would be happy that she'd learned. Well some that was. She remembered a lot of the signs, though repeating them with her fingers was a halting and slow process. She could see and understand the movements easily enough, it was just repeating them herself that was a bit troublesome.
"I'm still learning, like you, but I figured it would be easier, and that way you don't have to waste any of your markers or pencils trying to talk to me." It wasn't hard to see that Willow liked to draw, and she was a fantastic artist. In fact, Charlotte had been utterly amazed by the girl's drawings and had asked if she could watch the little girl draw. It was amazing to say the least. She was so very good at drawing that Charlotte almost felt ashamed that she could barely manage stick figures. So Charlotte hadn't wanted Willow to waste any of her supplies trying to talk to her. Willow might have been able to get more, and she knew her father would always provide her with things to write and draw with, but Charlotte was raised on being against needlessly wasting something.
And she saw writing things to herself as a needless waste when there was something Charlotte could do to make it easier for Willow to communicate with her. Charlotte always seemed to do that, look for ways that would make it easier for others to do things, no matter the strain on her. She grew up a middle child, she was handed down most of the things she'd ever had, her youngest sibling was a boy who got all the things he ever wanted. She learned quickly to give up the things she wanted for her siblings, to manage with what she had and not waste things in case she wouldn't get them again. It was how she grew up so she was okay with it. When there was still no towering monarch at the door by the time Char got done showing Willow what she'd learned, Char relaxed just a bit more.
"So, exploring huh? It doesn't look like there's a lot of interesting things here" She didn't mean to sound like she was snooping, though her gaze flickered over the room quickly. But Willow seemed thrilled about exploring her father's room and Charlotte would hate herself if she ruined that for the little girl. Even if they really shouldn't be snooping around the Monarch's room. Words: 814 Tag: Willow Notes: whooo more talking! xD

Silent giggles pealed from Willow’s lips when Charlotte waved back and she was quick to happily grin at the other woman. She enjoyed her company! She liked Charlotte, she was always nice to Willow and, well, besides that Willow just plain loved everyone with very little thought that maybe that wasn’t the best idea in the world. She just enjoyed making friends and refused to stop just because everyone around her said that might not be a good idea because her Daddy had enemies and stuff lke that. She refused. She enjoyed it too much, making friends that is. And Charlotte was fun!
She beamed happily at Charlotte when she went down to her level, which Willow never minded if people did, she was short even for her age. But she didn’t care if they didn’t either! She was just an easy going little chick. And instead she focused on pulling her sketch pad out of her pack so that way she could talk to Charlotte, like she happily talked to just about everyone. She wrote out what she was doing in here and pouted a little bit at Charlotte’s question. She didn’t notice the unease, that wasn’t why she was pouting. She was pouting because the answer was no. She shook her head, sadly. She liked when her Daddy was around, she enjoyed bothering him.
She even enjoyed their little game!
She glomped Charlotte in a hug, once she realized she had had yet to do that since seeing her! And how rude was that? She happily squeezed as she hugged, because she really did enjoy her company a lot! But at the mention of something to show her she blinked up at her, curious but grinning because she really really wanted to know, very badly. Willow liked all sorts of surprises.
And then she signed and Willow was bouncing up and down ecstatically, clapping. She was so happy other people were learning sign too! It made her want to learn more and it just plain made her so happy. Even more than surprises. Knowing that when she learned, that the people around her would know too. That was important to her. She giggled and slowly, slowly, because she was still learning, she signed right back to Charlotte happily. *I’m good! How are you?* she asked, returning the question back to the young woman. So happy was she, not that that was anything new.
She listened to Charlotte speak, attentively. When the woman said that she was learning too, Willow nodded along with the words, pointing to herself as if to say that she was still learning too, and keeping up with the conversation. Most of the way that Willow “spoke” if she wasn’t using her sketchpad was through charades, at this point. But then she tilted her head when Charlotte added the last bit about wasting her art materials. And she shook her head rapidly because she didn’t see it as wasting at all! She liked to talk to people so if she was using them for things she liked to do, what was the waste?
”It’s not wasting to me! I like talking to you”[/color] she wrote on her sketchpad before turning it around for Charlotte to see, holding it under her chin and beaming at her over the top of it. It was true! Why would Willow lie? She never lied. She thought lying was yucky. Besides, she never got in trouble so she didn’t’ fear the backlash for doing something wrong as other girls her age might. She just admitted everything and told the truth, innocent as a child. Which she was.
So no real surprise there.
She giggled, though no sound came out as always, and happily bounced a bit. It was true! It really was. She enjoyed Charlotte’s company and she hoped Charlotte stayed for a good long while. Willow would make sure of it if she could! Charlotte was her friend and Willow enjoyed having those, as much of those as she possibly could.
She also saw nothing wrong with the fact that she was currently hanging out in her father’s room, a place that was often forbidden unless invited inside to it.
Charlotte said that there didn’t look like there were many interesting things in here and Willow pouted a little. Not because of what Charlotte said, of course, but because it was true what she said. She huffed and kicked the floor a little and noded, but then she shrugged. She supposed there was nothing good but it sstill entertained her to be in here when she hadn’t been before on her own. She knew she shouldn’t, but Willow was a bit notorious for being where she shouldn’t be and hearing things she shouldn’t hear. And passing them on to her sister to go telling the world about. Her daddy’s room just happened to be another one of those places.

Charlotte didn't like how sad she looked when she responded negatively to her question about Laevinus being in the room. But it lessened the anxiety she felt about being in the Monarch's room. She was very certain that the towering vampire would not like it if he knew she was in his room, without his permission. So while she didn't like the sadness that crossed Willow's face, she couldn't help but be relieved that he wasn't here. "I'm sure you'll see him soon" And she honestly hoped she'd be tucked away in the library by that time, immersed in another book. But she was finding herself just as comfortable and happy spending time with Willow. Charlotte had taken care of her younger brother from time to time, he was quite the spoiled brat, but she had loved him very much. She found herself more in tune with children than she had with adults.
She had even given thought to becoming a teacher of young children, but her desire to write was more powerful and so she'd just taken to babysitting for someone who needed it, or helping out occasionally at a day care when she could. Now, however, there wasn't any day cares she could go visit, so it was a bit of a relief that Willow and Aoife were here, she felt comfortable with the girls, more out going than she felt with any other person, and she adored Willow's enthusiasm for everything. Not to mention Willow's drawings just amazed her, left her speechless, and she loved to watch the little girl sketch. Charlotte eagerly accepted Willows hug, truthfully Charlotte was surprised that Willow had so easily accepted Char. She'd spent her life with a family that saw her more as a burden than as a family member, and it left her lonely and expecting to stay that way.
It was nice to be proven wrong every so often, and Willow's excited air about seeing her was refreshing. She was pleased she could make Willow so obviously happy with such a little thing, she laughed lightly and beamed at the girl while she asked her how she was the same way Char had asked her. I am good. She replied shortly, really it was nice that she could make someone happy. She was quickly finding herself adoring the young girl, despite the (in her eyes) very scary father she had. When Charlotte mentioned that she was learning so Willow wouldn't have to waste her supplies on her, the little girl shook her head rapidly. Charlotte's lips turned down into a frown, her eyebrows coming together. She'd spent so long thinking she didn't deserve new things, or have things wasted on her, that the idea that Willow was just fine wasting her supplies (which were probably never in short supply) on her was a bit new.
She smiled at the little girl, tinged with slight sadness, as she told Char that she liked talking to her. "I like talking to you too Willow" But she was still adamant about not having anything wasted on her, she spent much too long with the idea that she shouldn't have things wasted on her that she was stuck in that rut. She laughed lowly when Willow kicked the floor, huffing and shrugging when she mentioned there wasn't much in the room. Which brought her attention back to the fact that she was indeed in a room that she really shouldn't be in. Her lips dipped back into a frown as her eyes shot back to the door, once more expecting a towering figure to be standing there. The brunette woman stood up, holding out a hand to Willow. She needed to get out of the room before her anxiety killed her.
"How about we go make some pancakes? I'm kinda hungry, I'm sure you are too" She smiled softly at the little girl, cooking was something Charlotte did very well. Charlotte did a lot of domestic things to take care of herself, she had for a very long time, and cooking was something that she'd learned to be very very good at. Her pancakes were the best, if she did say so herself. Words: 708 Tag: Willow Notes: POST FER WILLO

Willow enjoyed being in her Daddy’s room! Even if he had no fun stuff in here, which was no good. She thought she needed to get him some fun stuff soon. She nodded slightly to herself. Maybe that would help him smile more if he got some more fun stuff in his room. She would set about that soon, she even wrote it down on the corner of her page so she’d remember! Maybe that would make him smile and then Willow would feel happy that she helped. She liked helping the people that she loved so very much. She made Angelo smile with her drawings! She was certain she could do the same for her Daddy.
She forgot her pout about her Daddy not being here when Char said that she would likely see him again soon. That was true! She would. She nodded enthusiastically, happy that Char was able to bring up that happy thought. Willow usually saw him at night when she went to go find him to see him at least once that day. And Willow was more a happy creature by nature, so when she mentioned that Willow would see him, it brought that to mind and she was happy. She smiled, beamed really, at Charlotte with that.
And then Char made her even more happy because she mentioned that she had a surprise for her and oh what a surprise it was! It made Willow so happy she thought she was going to burst! She liked when other people wanted to learn things like her, it made her want to learn more—not that she didn’t want to it was just so much work that it was slow going for her, she mostly avoided her lessons with Angelo. But if Charlotte was going to learn too, then maybe she would be more enthusiastic in her studies. Maybe. It depended with Willow, she was only seven and as such she was easily distracted.
She signed back saying she was good and Willow beamed. She was happy Char was good! When she first saw Char in her home, Char didn’t look very good at all. She had looked scared. And Willow didn’t like seeing people like that in her home unless her and Aoife were doing the scaring! So she had gone out of her way—not like it was much effort being that Willow loved everyone and Char was near the top of that list by now—to make Char not look so scared anymore! So the good made her happy indeed!
Charlotte told her that she liked talking to her too and Willow’s face got very happy and excited indeed! She was happy that Charlotte liked talking to her! It would be silly to talk if they didn’t like talking to each other after all, her child’s logic informed her. She giggled silently and hugged her again, tightly. She then pulled back and nodded, happily. She had nothing to say to that, she was just happy. And Willow didn’t think to answer all the time, being mute and all, like normal people might.
Charlotte held out her hand and Willow tilted her head slightly, confused as to why until the woman spoke to her and then Willow was grinning. Oh Willow liked pancakes! She liked them a lot and she had forgotten to eat when she had burst from her room that morning. It was silly but it happened, Willow would sometimes forget to eat all day if she was so caught up in her drawing. And then someone would have to go find her and make her eat, because she just got so caught up in what she was doing! SO Char mentioning pancakes made her suddenly realize that she was hungry. She looked down and rubbed her suddenly hungry tummy and then took Char’s hand.
She nodded and started to tug Char enthusiastically from the room, the Char on her shoulder chittering unhappily because he hated when Willow moved too quickly when he was on her shoulder but he would be just fine! She wanted pancakes! He could deal.
Enthusaistically, Willow happily tugged Charlotte from the room and down the hallway and through another hallway, and a set of staircases, passing by the giant kitchen that was used when they were having those big fancy parties and instead going for the small one that was for everyday use, that was better for pancake making. It was only then that she dropped the woman’s hand and looked up at her with a happy, although a bit expectant now, face. As always. When was Willow not a happy little girl?
