[style=text-align: center; font-size: 10px; font-family: verdana; color: #d9d1b5;]( Can a Vampyre and a human have a child? What will it be, vampyre or human? )
No, their different DNA (because whether born or changed, vampires are not close to humans on the inside) makes them incompatable. A mixed breed child would kill the mother slowly, if it ever managed to happen which would be extremely rare, until she was operated on to have the child removed.
( Do Vampyres who are born Vampyre have to go through a fledgeling stage like those who are turned as teens? How long does that phase last? Do they also need to be around several older Vampyres? Until what age? )
Vampyres who are born as such also do have to go through a fledgling stage, it kicks in for them at about fourteen like most others, unlike those that receive their mark at that time...most born vampires just know when their time comes, it hits them like a spark in the chest. Their phase lasts the same as a Marked, as in it usually lasts until they're 18. They do need to be around several older vampires during this stage, same as the Born until they reach their Changed age.
( Do Crimson Vampyres need the same formula they used to need in order to survive? Why do some turn into Crimsons and not others? )
Nope, the formula used in the House of Night books doesn't exist here in this universe. Its all up to chance.
( Can Onyx Vampyres who were once Crimson Vampyres go in the sunlight? )
They can indeed! Sort of. They can manage in the sunlight better than Crimsons but not as well as Azures or Onyxs that once were Azures. But they still feel pain from the sun.
( Do elder vampyres have heightened senses and/or abilities? )
Elder vampires don't gain more heightened senses or abilities, no. But they are traditionally more skilled at using those that they do have, they're older so they have more experience and know how to rely more on what they have. They generally have full master of their affinity--as opposed to younger ones who are still trying to figure it out. In general, elder vampires have more control over themselves and what they can do, thus generally making them more skilled and deadly than the younger generation.
( Does a Vampire's creator have unique control over them? For example, a Vampire in that series could never, under any circumstances physically overpower their creator. )
Nope. Being that most vampires are made the way they are either by birth or catching the airborne disease, not a ton of vamps actually have creators. And those that do don't have any sort of control over them anymore than any other vampire.
( What exactly has changed in the world, as in technology and life itself? )
Picture Show Me Your Teeth as modern, simply with an ancient Monarchy. There are still cell phones, vehicles, and other things that we see daily, in real life. The only really large change, however, is the fact that the world is now ruled by a single individual, countries have been replaced with sectors, and vampires are now at the majority.
( Where do the pets live? )
Pets, as in the human pets and not the furry kind, live in the staff quarters at the Citadel unless they have been specifically claimed by a certain vamp for their use alone, in which case they stay with that vamp.
( How can you tell a pet from a normal human? )
The Pets have the mark of protection. For females it is usually set into a piece of jewelry, like a charm or a necklace, while males tend to have it set to a piece of leather like in a cuff or bracer. It is engraved with the mark of the Monarch to make it official. If a Pet "works" for a specific vampire, they will have that vampires symbol (usually the vampire's initials) engraved on the other side.
( How does a fledgling know they've become a full vampire? )
When a vampire changes, its like something clicks inside of them. They just feel like everything has aligned, and they're a full vampire. Its a sort of inner light that other vampires can also see about them, and that fades only after a few days.
( Do the color of marks change as a Vampire changes? If so, how? )
Yes. Marks, for Azure Vampires, are always blue in color. But, should that Azure change into a Crimson, the tattoo changes red. As blood passes rapidly through their body while they're rejecting the change (by unnatural means or otherwise), it causes the tattoo to stain into the dull, eerie color of blood. Finally, all Onyx marks are black--why? When they're changed, the same fluids that enhance them also blacken the mark. These are processes that cannot be stopped, and thus it is impossible for an Onyx to have blue tattoos, unless they are artificial.
( I seem intimidated by the amount of words I have to write, but still want to join, can I get help? )
Of course! We're always happy to help those that cannot reach the word count try to get there. We believe we have a realistic count for an advanced level site, and one that can be met without too much trouble for the level, but we are always happy to help.
( Since all pets are made with the promise of their loyalty in return for safety, does this mean that all pets must have an undying loyalty for the monarch, and are therefore pro-monarch in their actions, even if they don't think it's right? )
Absolutely not. Your pet can be anti-monarch, certainly, however they need to conduct themselves as though they are on his side. As long as they do their job and keep political thoughts to themselves, they still have freedom of thought on the issue.
( if a vampire hid their marks, would humans be able to tell if they were vamp or not? or would they just appear as normal human beings? )
As long as their marks were hidden and no bright lights were shone in their eyes, they could indeed. They would also have to hide their strength and those that are Crimson would have to be careful with their sanity. It would be quite the process and most don't bother. The humans at Camp Mortalis almost always shine lights into those that come to them for shelter, as a precaution, so it is not easy to get past that.
( how does a human become a pet? )
There are two ways for this to happen. The first is that the humans themselves come forward and offer their loyalty in exchange for their safety, thus gaining them the particular mark of a pet and making them off limits. Or they could be hunted and either find themselves in the holding cells or agreeing to become a pet.
( what relationship does the monarch have with the students at spurcus noct academy? would it be similar to the one of kalona from the hon series? )
Somewhat, I suppose, however very few have actually come into contact with him--generally, the Monarch doesn't have the time to meander about the school grounds. However, he will occasionally visit to ensure all education is exceeding expectations.
( as the monarch has the affinity for reverence, does this include humans? also does it mean that even if they are anti-monarch, they would still feel true respect and admiration, or would it be a more reluctant and grudging feeling? )
It does work for humans, but not always without fail. As well, it does not turn anyone into mindless beings believing he is godly--I would definitely say it could range from either side of the spectrum, but if one is very against him, it would be a grudging, reluctant feeling for sure.
( does the rule of 'what happens in icc stays in icc' apply here? or can we refer to it in our posts? )
What happens in ICC stays in ICC. ICC is a good place to test out plots or to have a bit of fun but it does not apply to the world of posts and though a scenario from an earlier ICC can be continued in a later one, it can't start in ICC and move into posts.
( how informed would the fledglings/vampires be about the monarch and his council? is there some sort of line of communication (a.k.a cindy secret) or are they kept in the dark about their actions? )
Most of the big decisions would be made public, though twisted into what Laevinus wants the public to know, and as long as they pay attention to the news they'd likely know what the monarch was doing. However a lot would probably stay in the confines of the Council. Though...who knows...maybe Cindy will be making a come back
( would the humans at the camp be able to leave whenever they want to, or are the borders strictly guarded? )
Camp Mortalis is in a location that is unknown to the Sector and the vamps within it. The humans there are not confined there but stay there for their own safety. Its likely that they wouldn't leave without a guard, but it is not a place where humans are tossed, its where they run to to escape the Sector. There's no strict borders except by those set down by it's leader.
( how would the humans know about the camp, and get it's location info? )
Most humans know the rumors and go into the forest to look for it. Sometimes they stumble into it but most times the human guards who--carefully--patrol the forest find them and take them there. They're often interrogated to make sure they aren't spies but usually a human will be welcomed with open arms.
( would a human be able to pretend to be an azure vampire? for example like aphrodite does in hon by drawing on her mark. )
They could, except for one little detail that can't be faked. In the direct sunlight, like if they glance at the sun, or a bright flash of light...a vampire's eyes will shine back, like a cats if a bright light shines on them. This is because, like many animals, they have a tapetum lucidum in their eyes. The tapetum lucidum contributes to their superior night vision, like it does in animals, but it causes the light to reflect back.
( what are the rules regarding marks? can they be of any colour, shape, place etc? )
Marks can be anything that shows off the personality, the true personality, of the vamp that they are on. The only limitation is that they cannot be words of any sort, they must be a shape--be it tribal or literal. The color is the same as the type of vamp that they are. They can be found anywhere, from the face, to the back to arms to...well...everywhere if a vamp has had enough life experience to gain that many. They start off as one but they grow as the vampire goes through significant events in their life.
