She could sleep for anywhere from a few minutes to sleeping a whole day away with the condition she was in. The condition that was currently baffling the doctors that got a look at her. Her brain and lymph nodes were swelling and there was something amiss with her blood. And the most befuddling of all was her speeding heart rate. That heart-rate of hers was something to blame for the first time she had woken up. She’d had her first heart-attack. That surprise had likely dumbstruck one or two of the doctors at least. She was clearly young, clearly not even in her early 20’s. She was obviously too young to have a heart-attack, but it had happened none the less. Her pain was almost too much to take. When her mind was clear, it almost consumed her every time. Almost brought tears to her eyes and gave her half a mind to beg someone to put her out of her misery and kill her already. But she couldn’t go yet. She knew that too. And neither was it fair of her to complain; not when others had it so much worse than she did. She needed to be grateful, she knew that too. Grateful for all she had and the wonderful life she had lived. She really, truly was grateful; really. She’d had a mother figure who loved her, a brother who doted on her much more then it was fair for him to have, and the most special little girl in the entire world who called her mother. She’d lived free and happy, never knowing any plight aside from her physical handicaps and her little daughter’s seizures. She’d never once been angry at anyone and had never had a reason to ever want to cry before she’d gotten so terribly sick. Even if her time to live was shorter than most would have, others had even shorter ones and what time she had been granted was something to be truly grateful for. She was so lucky, she was so thankful. But there was one thing she had to ensure before she could go. She only prayed that God wouldn’t take her away before she could see to it. So when she woke that second time, once again fear swelled in her gut due to the unfamiliar blurred shapes and colors her eyes saw. She didn’t know where she was, but she knew she was not where she had fallen asleep where her brother had left her, and she was not anywhere at home. She knew she was alone because she heard no others around and there was the initial problem. She needed to find her family. She could not rest until she knew at least Aurelia was safe and sound. She took deep breaths to attempt to calm herself, reminding herself that panicking wouldn’t do her any good. She needed to focus. She needed to calm down enough to figure out why her arms felt so odd. But more importantly, she needed to find either her glasses or her contacts so she could at least see again. That would probably help things a lot too. Feeling around, she couldn’t find her glasses or case for her contacts. And of course, that was when she remembered she had put both into her bag. Therefore, she needed to find her bag… wherever it was. Another great feat to accomplish. So she did the best thing she could do; she felt both her arms to find there were… things… things she didn’t know what they were stuck into them. And this scared her all the more, but once again she calmed herself as best she could. Panicking. Would. Not. Help. She needed to stay calm and she could do this. She didn’t need to black out again. That wouldn’t help anything at all. So, once she had calmed, she started pulling the… things out of her arms, off her hands, and when she pulled the last one out, that quick beeping quickly turned to an alarming high-pitched, one long beep that just didn’t stop. It startled Enn right off of… whatever she was on, a bed likely? Her head hit against something hard, but hallow-sounding; so in her highly disoriented state, she felt against the thing her head had hit and found it to be a cupboard. She had just enough time to clamber in and shut it behind her before the sound of a door flying open and panicked voices filled the room. Her headache hadn’t liked the high-pitched whine that was still sounding through the room, it made her horrible head pain all the worse; had her wincing in pain and clamping her hands over her ears. But she didn’t cry out. Enn had gotten good at that over the years. She wasn’t the type to scream when she was hurting. Screaming alerted others to your plight after all, and she never wanted to bother anyone with her problems, no matter how much pain she was ever in. That had taught her silence. And in the dark silence, she willed herself to push on through the horrible pain of her head and listen. She had to be smart about this. She had to think very carefully. She had to quiet the ringing that was going through her ears and drowning everything out that had accompanied her sharp head pains when that blaring screech had struck and be very careful. She was likely not at a human camp, and she was not at home, and she was most definitely not still in the forest, and that all had to equal that vampires had got her. Now, this logic scared her just a little bit. Of course, she knew that not all vampires were bad, that you had good and bad in everything; all species, all genders, all of everything. However in that same breath, she had led a very sheltered life. The woman she called mother had cautioned her against the outside world. The world was a horrible, evil place, she had said. A place of suffering and deceit. That’s why she kept them; her and her baby and her brother, away from the world. She was keeping them safe and keeping them innocent and pure. Mother loved her too much to let the evil world corrupt her after all. Enn was very grateful for that too. But mother said that vampires enslaved humans. Humans were only food and free labor to them and since vampires had taken over the world, which made it very dangerous to be human. And that was another reason Mommy kept them safe from the evil world. Mother had said that they might act nice, but that didn’t mean that people were really nice. She told Enn to never trust other people, especially other vampires. Because they would likely only want to trick and deceive her for her blood and only Mommy was safe and good. That logic was difficult to take to heart for a personality that was naturally accepting and believed in the good in everyone. But if there was one thing that growing up with his logic being drilled into one’s head did, it made her cautious of others. That caution had her quiet despite the agony of her leg and head, silent as the dead while she waited for complete silence. She could feel tough cloth and smooth plastic, like that of her bag by her strangely bare leg. She waited till the silence was sure before feeling around for whatever that was by her legs. It felt like her bag, and when she finally got the chance to feel around for the front pocket where she put her glasses in its case in her bag as well as the case for her contacts, she found both. She went with her glasses; they were easier to manage. There was a good lot of stuff in her bag; she had a large, thick Braille book of fairytales and another of a wide assortment of myths, she had a few different changes of clothes, a thick blanket, a pencil case with crayons, pencil crayons, pencils, erasers and a sharpener, and then a sketchbook. The drawing things and books she carried for Aurelia, and the other things were for her or both of them. She didn’t know what she was wearing at the moment, but it wasn’t what she had been wearing when she went to sleep. It was breezy, but she had noticed the metal thing that had been through her leg was now gone. That was good at least. It was a bit of a struggle to manage to get out of that hospital gown and change into clothes she had in her bag, but she managed it. It had taken her some time though, especially considering how tired and weak she always was, especially now. And her bum leg made things all the worse too. But Enn was a smart cookie, even if most didn’t think so. She could only assume that she was in a hospital, and so if she was dressed like a patient, she would be caught soon and brought back to the room and those… things would be reattached to her. She couldn’t have that, not even if it would make things better. Nope nope. Not at all, she needed to find her brother and her baby and her dog. But most especially her baby. How could she manage that if she were locked in this building till she died? Nope. That wasn’t okay, and Enn especially didn’t want to be here. Her sickness was a rare one after all, in this part of the world at least. She didn’t want the attention on her wasting everyone’s time when the time and equipment could be better spent in other places, taking care of others and making them better. No no no. That was not okay. If she was really lucky, she might be able to slip right out without anyone noticing… hopefully. Pants would be hard for her to put on, but she also needed to cover her bandaged leg, but that was okay too, she had a long skirt in her bag, and her flats wouldn’t be okay for snow, but it was the best she could manage. Her top was loose so how thin and bony she really was would be better hidden and had an extra sweater in her bag for just incase reasons. With her sweater hanging open but hood up to hide her hair better, she finally stepped out of the cupboard. The plastic hospital bracelet around her arm was hidden by the sleeve of her peach sweater; she was a weak little thing after all; much too weak to tug it off herself. Enn clearly lacked a sense of style, but that was perfectly okay with her. She needed to not draw attention to herself if she was gonna get out and find her baby, and being a little out of style wasn’t completely unordinary from some of the things Mommy had told her about hospitals and what she’d seen on the tv shows and movies she watched with her big brother sometimes. So she stumbled towards the door, balancing herself against anything she could to keep herself upright as she went, and when all was quiet she slipped right out of the room she had woken up in and began her exploration of the very large building she found herself in. She wandered for quite a bit longer then she thought she’d be able to, and internally, Enn was quite pleased with herself for this. She took breaks every so often and managed to go without being questioned for the most part, but her collapse was inevitable. When she finally did, it was in another quiet hallway… just another hallway. There was no end to this building in sight! How did people possibly manage to get in and out of this monstrous place?! Enn couldn’t imagine it, but she was tired now. She couldn’t sleep, but perhaps another break was in order. So she pushed herself up with her back to a wall and glanced around. Sitting there like she was would probably attract attention she didn’t want, but which way should she go? Which way would bring her to the next sitting area where she could take another break without calling too much attention to herself?[/style] [style=background-color: #f9cdf5; width: 300px; border: 2px solid #e09fd9; -moz-border-radius: 25em; border-radius: 25em; color: #5AAFCC; font-size: 8px; font-family: georgia; font-weight: bold; text-align: center; text-transform: uppercase;]Words: 2091 ❤ Tags: Open ❤ Outfit: here Notes: loooong, Enn didn't know how to shut up, I sorry! ❤ Credit:Akira ❤[/style] |
