[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,440,true] Epona paced around her lab with her lab coat swishing around her legs and picking up some of her vials to look at. She had been waiting for Alexandria O’Riley, her new… lab rat for only a few minutes but she was already getting worried. Now you have to remember this kind of reaction is common for Epona and she’s just going through random emotions before her new rat gets here. Her usual lab rats never last too long and she usually tires them out within a few short weeks so she hopes that this new match would work out. Alexandria seemed like she would be more durable somehow with her and she would happily feed her addiction if she managed to stay with her. Scaring away lab rats seemed to be more common for her than making them feel comfortable in her presence. It might just be the fact that she’s old, or crazy, or well… even her peerage. She never truly knew why besides for the times that she would come close to injuring her sarcastic pets. Sending them away was more for their safety than her own sanity because she already knew that she was crazy, she didn’t purposely want to kill any of them. ”Mmm, Alexandria darling… you are lateee.” She clucked, her tongue snapping on the top of her mouth as she checked back at the door. She rattled the little cup she had in her hand like she would if she was trying to attract and animal for treats but no one entered the door sooner. ”Cats, cats come to the sounds of treats… and so do dogs, I hope she isn’t like a female dog. But… I’ve heard of her. Quite the bitch.” She mumbles to herself as she places the cup down on the table nearest to her and turning around to head to her microscope. It was one of several telescopes and microscopes that she had laying around but this one had cultures of blood next to it. She often tried to figure out what kind of drugs, depressants, and the like would work on different types of blood. She tested humans, vampires of all ages, and the different types of them to see which worked best for which. Her current testing was on humans and having someone like Lexi with her was just perfect because of her habits and addictions. She would give her all sorts of things that would give her a high but she would slowly build up to the stronger things as she figures out her tolerance. With one last look to the door for several moments she sighs and faces her microscope to view the current blood sample she has tucked into it. She reaches up and twists one of the knobs to force the magnification higher so she could see the cells better, even with magnified Vampire senses she still enjoyed the look of a microscope. Having this sort of advanced availability was absolutely amazing and Epona would not give it up for absolutely anything. Even her children and sister enjoyed being able to use such advanced things. Though, at the school her children attended they also had access to more advanced things than many humans ever had. Epona was definitely an advocate for higher education for all children who went to school here and she paid all the money she could to help fund things. She reaches her hand back to another knob to turn it off and stands up straight again to head back to one of the other tables which happened to be filled with every sweet and coffee that a human could enjoy. The woman reaches her hands out to move around all the items and make sure they were once again in proper order, not that they weren’t before but she had to do it again. In those next several minutes her self control was beginning to boil and her eyes flashed a darker color before she turned on the door. She stared at it for several moments before sweeping to it and throwing it open, ”ALEXANDRIA YOU BEST BE WALKING DOWN THIS HALLWAY YOUNG LADY!” She drawled, her Irish sounding accent coming out heavy. Then in a moment of sudden realization she remembered that her new pet, who had already annoyed her, could speak her language. She grinned maliciously before she opened her mouth, ”ALEXANDRIA O'RILEY, TÚ IS FEARR A TEACHT SÍOS AN DORCHLA CEART AN DARA SEO. BEIDH mé THUGANN TÚ TRÍOCHA SOICIND SULA DTAGANN LIOM TÚ GET DOM FÉIN!!” When she finished she snapped her mouth shut and slammed the door back into place, not caring that it rattled the hinges. She’d broken the door off many times and only recently had they finally replaced it with a heavier metal so that she wouldn’t break it so easily. She looked down to her wrist and glanced at the watch, counting down the seconds before she could go and physically grab her lab rat. ”Tick Tock.” |

Lexi had no idea where she was.
Nothing new there, if she was going to be entirely honest. It happened more times than she could count that she woke up somewhere and had no idea how she had gotten there and where she had come from. She knew she had been drunk, that was something. She had decided not to get high last night because, well because she couldn’t find her usual dealer and she was too lazy to drum up another. It was just as easy to trade favors with the bartender for a bottle and get shitfaced anyway, which was exactly what she had done.
She extracted herself from under someone else’s body with a yawn, plucked up her boots from the floor where she had chucked them at some point and then scowled at them. She could walk in the towering monstrosities when she was high or when she was drunk, when she was sober she was lucky if she didn’t kill herself tripping over them and impaling herself in something. She scowled more at them and shook her head. Feck that bullshite. She would just walk barefoot back to the fecking citadel. Feckers.
A shake of her head and the young junkie was extracting herself, not caring who she stepped on, as she left the apartment full with plenty of sleeping people, she wasn’t even sure if they were vampires or humans, she had blacked out at some point. Whatever, her dress was still on. Speaking off, she glanced down to scowl at it. She really wanted to be back in her jeans and her loose tee-shirts and not the monstrosities she dressed herself in before she went out. She put up with it because she kne it got her what she wanted. It got her high.
Her free hand dug into the side of the dress where she had a hidden pocket—it was a feat considering how tight the leather monstrosity she was wearing was—and fished out a spare cig. She lit it using a lighter she plucked off of a table before she left the apartment and took a drag, pulling the poison into her lungs, before she was out onto the street. The street dug into the bottoms of her bare feet but she relished the small pinpricks of pain almost as much as she relished the poison killing the stress she could already feel latching onto her.
She needed to get high again. Sooner rather than later. She fecking hated being sober. Sober meant she could remember, she could delve into her past with ease she didn’t like and remember why she had run from her home country. She could remember ditching her cousin to be a pampered pet because she knew going to that stupid camp meant she’d have to be sober twenty four seven and she could not have that. No, that would kill her more surely than the drugs would over time.
Instead she delved her thoughts to other things. She had become an owned pet again, she had gotten that notice of course. Along with the bit to meet said new owner on Thursday. She blinked. Feck when was Thursday? Was today Thursday? Could be. Feck she should probably figure that out. Not that it mattered really. In the four years she had been a pet she had been bounced around more times than she could count. She was hard to handle, she was nasty, she had a temper, she was always high, she tended to go out too much and not be readily available.
She had heard it all. It wasn’t like any of them would last long. Whatever. Owned or unclaimed, it didn’t bother her too much. She took another drag and let the cig hang absently from her lips as she used her fingers to rub against the mark hanging from her neck. It was a new one, properly engraved to show she belonged to The Oracle. Oooh how special. She rolled her eyes and plucked the cig from her lips again, holding it absently between two fingers as she walked. It was also still stitched around her neck. Or at least, the collar that held the mark was. Lexi had a bad habit of stripping down when she was high or drunk. They had had to permantly sew her mark on because she kept losing it when she stripped.
Oh well.
She smirked slightly, still fecking pissed she was sober, as she entered the Citadel, grinding out her cig on the walls before she entered it. It wasn’t too long before she was in the small room that she called her own. She wondered if she’d have her arse moved to the new vamp’s or not. It usually depended on the vamp. She rolled her eyes. And then caught sight of the clock.
Oh well feck!
It was indeed Thursday and she was indeed late. She didn’t have time to change. Feck. Her eyes scanned her room and she yanked up her army green infantry coat that was a size or two too big for her. It didn’t match the dress and it clashed with her electric blue hair but she didn’t give a feck. It was her favorite, she had had it for as long as she could remember. She didn’t have time to grab new shoes either, just dumped the old ones and left the room.
She was darting down the halls towards the garden when she heard a yell, that she couldn’t’ make out. She shook her head and kept going, none of her damn business. She was closer when the yell came out again and that made her skid to a stop. She blinked. That had been Irish. And her birth name. Feck. Lexi had grown up in a Gaeltacht town, or at least near one and her family had spoken it, and taught it to her and her cousin when she was young. It reminded her of home and that stumped her for a moment because, again, she didn’t want to think of home.
And then what had actually been said caught up with her and she bolted the rest of the way, skidding to a stop in time to go through the door, opening the heavy thing and standing there, arching a brow slightly. Well feck. This was a real life lab now wasn’t it?
But then her eyes found the vamp that had yelled at her, The Oracle she was called, yeah? She couldn’t remember her real name. Her mind went right back to the use of her birth name and the language that had been spoken. She paused a moment, searching and wracking her brain. It had been four years after all.” Tá tú ... labhairt na hÉireann. Labhraíonn aon duine anseo Gaeilge. Agus is é mo ainm Lexi Scathe, nach bhfuil Alexandria O'Riley mo ainm níos mó..” she said, the last part her being a stubborn bitch. But hey, she was one. She didn’t see the point iin behaving. Better the poor woman got used to it sooner rather than later.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,440,true] It was just about at that thirty second mark that Epona was about to go out her front door and into the corridor to find her new pet, lab rat, Lexi, Alexandria… whatever she wanted to call her at the time being when she came flying into her lab. Epona allowed her arm to fall to her side and she examined the girl who stood in front of her with a cocked eyebrow. Her own eyebrows slid up her forehead as she watched her, she was slightly taller than the average human, thin, almost too thin, and… fairly beautiful. The hair is what caught her eyes next and she tilted her head to the side to stare at it for a few seconds, ”Why would you do that to your hair?” She questioned to both herself and the girl standing in front of her. She only could wonder what color hair the girl had underneath that and she was definitely, definitely giddy to find that out without asking. Just being able to stare at her long enough was surely going to make her want to take what was hers by right but she had to hold back at least for a little bit. And before the girl managed to speak Epona stepped closer, licking her lips slightly before stopping herself at the sound of her Irish words. This made her lips curl back into their trademark grin and she chuckled, ”Cailín Darling, tá mé ag labhairt Gaeilge ar feadh níos faide ná mar a bhí tú beo. Tá mé Ceilteach. Agus, ba mhaith liom fios nach bhfuil tú is fearr a insint dom cad a ghlaonn tú. Tá do ainm tugtha álainn. Beidh mé ag glaoch ort mar a fheiceáil mé oiriúnach, ná thástáil dom. Is féidir liom a bheith cothrom, ach tá mé fós cad ba mhaith liom glaoch a monster. Mar sin féin, an uair seo, agus an uair seo ach beidh mé ag ligean duit a insint dom cad atá le déanamh.” Her voice was soft, but demanding of what she was asking the girl and she hoped she would heed that warning. Epona may have a good head on her shoulders for the most part but her Crimson ties often knocked her for a loop, and her blatant insanity could flip if her human tried to tell her what to do. ”Now, in more modern English, I am Epona Brækni-Fáelán. I guess you would know that though.” She murmurs before stepping up to be right in front of her. Her face ended up merely an inch or so away from Lexi’s as she studied her face, Why?, no true reason to be exact. ”You have nice skin. And… nice eyes probably when they are not bloodshot from a long night.” She says gently before reaching her hand back up to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear. ”Next time you come I expect you to be in… less of a disarray.” She murmurs before patting Lexi on the head and turning on her heel to head towards the table in the middle of the room. She puts her finger to her chin for a moment and glances back at the girl, ”I hope you do not mind taking these for me today.” She says before bringing her hand down to flick the cup she had placed down. ”I am sure though, from what I have read you would have no problems with something that could make you feel nice. Though, I do not necessarily understand it all the time dear. But if you feel good with it you will get it from me. But, mark my words, if you come to me with other… things in your blood I will find a very unpleasant way for getting them out.” Those words were given with another glance back at her and a very, very malicious smile that curled ever so slightly at the corners of her lips. That grin though only lasted a few short moments before it turned into a tight lipped look, ”Now go ahead and take these. There is just about any food and drink on this table you would possibly need to chase it down. When you are done, come to me. We will then get to work… or well, I will actually do whatever I want then. Possibly a bite or… maybe not.” She murmurs softly, turning around towards her bookshelves. She steps onto one of her step ladders and begins mumbling to herself but one could clearly hear her words, ”Very pretty girl. Tiny. Too tiny. Need to make her eat more. Possibly tastes good, possibly tastes bad. Depends on what she did last night.” Her words were in a note taking like tone as she cataloged the things she liked and disliked about the girl. But besides that she found her hands reaching towards one of the basic books she would give the girl about how to use her microscopes and telescopes. When she got it into her hands she stepped down from the ladder and placed it on the table nearest her. ”You will read that as soon as possible. I will expect you to know your way around the lab within the week, and if you do not a punishment will occur. Though, I do not know what it will be yet since I do not know your limits.” She says thoughtfully, without truly making eye contact with the girl. ”In the future, if I deem you fit then you will be able to come to the lab by yourself to do what you please. However if I or anyone else should find you tampering with anything you should not me… the consequences will be grave and I will not be able to protect you.” She nods her head, finally looking up at Lexi as she passes her to open a door in the corner of the lab. ”Now, the start of the tour.” She mumbles, pointing her hand into the room. ”This is the one bedroom I have here; you may use it if you do not wish to go back to your own but if you do. Be warned, I do use my bed. So you might have to share if you do not wish to sleep on the couch. If you fall asleep during work this is where you will be placed. There is an attached bathroom.” She nods her head slowly before shutting the door tightly. When she turned around she stopped to gaze at Lexi for a moment, seemingly shocked again at her hair. With a short sigh she slowly crosses the room to her and tilts her head, ”I hope I am not scaring you. I hope they have mentioned I may not exactly be sane. I’m actually perfectly insane.” She murmurs with a large smile and a hand placed gently on her shoulder. Her fingers tightening there on her for a moment before pulling back and beaming at her before flipping around again to motion at the desk area behind them. ”And that’s the microscope table, and the experiment table. Don’t get them mixed up with the food table, that would be a bad idea. Not many antidotes in here yet, so don’t drink anything unless I tell you too. I’d hate to see what happened to Jenna happened to you.” She chuckles, now practically skipping around her lab. Now if that wasn’t perfect insanity, she didn’t know what was. |

Taking stock of her current state, Lexi would rather not but unfortunately it was far too easy for her to think when she was sober, which was what led her to be a bitch. She shook her head. Okay, taking stock. She was in a small leather dress that definitely made the best of her bust which was on the smaller side and making use of that fact that even though she was absolutely tiny, she had long skinny legs, if how short it was said anything. She was barefoot but that was because she was not wearing the high heeled monstrosities she had been wearing the night before and she hadn’t had time to find her converse. She had on her army green infantry coat which matched nothing but it was her favorite.
Despite not matching her electric blue hair which was currently as much a wreck as her electric green eyes were painfully sober and not hazed out on some sort of drug. And she was walking faster than she ever liked to go but that was what happened when she was late to something she should likely not be late to if she was going to be totally honest.
And at the yelling of the Irish and the calling of her birth name—how the hell had she known her birth name—the girl picked it up a notch and skidded into the lab, because it was an honest to goddess lab she skidded into, and stood there a moment. She blinked at what was said, the words she got when she skidded into the door and looked down at her hair, she tugged it once and then pulled it into a bun, it was a wreck as it was, that was more sloppy than anything but it kept the mess out of her face. She shrugged. ”I like it. Why feckin’ else?” she muttered. And she did. The red that was her natural color just made her look way to stereotypical on top of her accent and her penchant for drinking and her temper. She didn’t need the hair on top of it all.
And then she managed to pull her wits together, a feat she was sure being that the brat hadn’t spoke it in ages, before replying in kind, in Irish, because it was more her native tongue than English was even though it took her a minute to remember the words. She also mentioned that she didn’t answer to that name in tones that were a little less bitchy, if she were to be honest, than she usually was when sober.
She rolled her eyes slightly when the woman said she would call her as she saw fit. Lexi had a temper, both when she was sober and when she was drunk. The only time it was curbed was when she was high and then she was as sweet as the day is long. She also didn’t care if she called herself a monster, Lexi tended to seek out the monsters. She liked getting bitten and she was a masochist in the truest sense, it didn’t bother her. ”Don’t be surprised when I don’t answer to Alexandria then” she muttered. She had chosen Lexi Scathe for herself. Lexi because everyone called her Lexi anyway, she had never been called Alexandria in her life. Scathe because it meant shadows in her native tongue. Lexi of the Shadows. She enjoyed it.
Lexi also had no real sense of self preservation.
She caught the fact that the other woman, the vamp, meant it. But that didn’t mean it would happen. Lexi especially didn’t answer to Alexandria when she as in whatever state wasn’t sober mostly because she didn’t pick up on the fact that that was her name. Her birth name anyway. So in a way she was doing a favor. Whatever, she had tried and that was all there was to it. She would purposely ignore her name and well, oh well. This was one of the many reasons that no one ever stuck with Lexi too long anyway. Maybe this master could handle it, Lexi didn’t know. She’d have to wait and see.
She gave her name, the other woman. Epona. Yeah, there was a possibility she could remember that. Mostly because she had been told while sober. She’d make a small effort in that front at least. She blinked when Epona stepped close to her, which quickly twisted into a scowl just because that was the permanent way that her face tended to morph when she wasn’t in some sort of state. There was a reason Lexi was always out of her skull on something. She was commenting on Lexi but she just scowled and didn’t say anything. And then she mentioned Lexi’s state of dress and she looked down at herself.
”Yeah well, feck. I didn’t have time to change” she said, straight out, no muttering. She scowled more when her head was patted and reflexively ran her fingers over her hair, with a stubborn outlook towards it.
She looked towards the cup that Epona had gestured towards. Now, Lexi wasn’t the sort to take things if she didn’t know what it was. She would if she was desperate and had been sober too long but her general rule was no new shit she didn’t know. Which was why she didn’t jump on it like a dog with a bone despite being sober. The other woman—Epona she enforced or she would forget—kept on talking and Lexi listened, absently. Yuuuup, she’d likely do her thing with her other dealers anyway. She’d just…well….do her best to be sober. ”Well I generally dunnae do sober.” she warned with a mutter. But apparently she knew that. From what she had read. What had she read? She got the whole…it’ll make her feel good bit. Which she was all for. But she couldn’t help asking. ”What the feck is it?”
The maliscious smile she noted when she finally bothered to look up made her blink, again. Okay, okay, so no being high on other drugs coming here. She got it. Didn’t mean she likely would remember that but oh well. She was a masochist, she’d deal.
She kept speaking and Lexi followed the words, arching a brow at all the food that she mentioned which made her sorta more than surprised but she did her best to keep it off of her face if she could, and she stubbornly was going to wait until she actually knew what it was she was supposed to be taking. Owned pet or not, it was her own personal rule. And then she heard the mentioning of a bite which did catch her attention—being that it was Lexi’s preferred high.
Lexi arched a brow again when the woman turned away from her towards a book shelf. She was muttering about her. Well okay then, she was going to pretend she didn’t notice that. She went over to the cup instead and glanced into it. ”I was drunk if that helps” she answered, with a shrug and a blantantly plain tone. Hey, she said she had read on Lexi. Whatever spoke about her had to share the fact that the bitch got her highs and her alcohol often.
Lexi wrinkled her nose at the notion of reading. Oh she could read. She had just hated school and hadn’t really had the best education being that she had stopped bothering at fourteen when she had gone on the run. Her attention went from the book to Epona as the other woman caught her eye and she shrugged. ”Read it. Got it.” As for her limits? Well, she’d let the scars that were currently hidden under her jacket speak to that. She had been abused by her father until she was fourteen and she then went on to seek out the abuse further without realizing it. That spoke for that.
She nodded to the rest, simply listening. Mostly because she was sober and then, the attention span was a little bit longer. Had she been high that wouldn’t have been the case. And then they were moving again. Well okay. She followed with a little shrug and her bare feet making no noise. And proceeded to blink when it came to the bedroom. Well then that was pretty fecking awesome space. She nodded a litte absently.
”Not scarin’ me at all. I’m not the most perfect cookie in the box either” she said, with a shrug. Not that that was how the saying went but that was the one she wanted to use. Oh well.
And they were off again.
She blinked at the commentary that came next. Didn’t want ot end up like Jenna. Got it. Well feck, okay maybe she was a tad bit nervous at that one. She wasn’t quite ready to die yet, she needed to find her cousin. ”Riiiight” as all she said. Now she was wishing she had gotten here high.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,440,true] Just walking around and pointing, sometimes opening things and closing them was all she could do with Lexi. She felt that she would figure it out eventually without having to have too long of a time to remember it. She seemed like she could be smart no matter what kind of… disarray she was in as long as you coaxed it out of her. Epona turned her head towards the girl as she rested her hand on one of her many microscopes, taking in her appearance once more. She dress was skin tight and made Epona want to pull at it to see how far it would stretch before she ripped it completely off. That would certainly make her think twice about wearing things like that to her lab. She turned her lips up into a grin for a moment, ”I was just thinking… how long would it take for that dress to rip if I started pulling it away from your body? Because I think it would rip quite quickly and would cause you to have to walk back to your room naked. So dresses that tight are a no-no in my lab. But I’d happily undress you in my bed if you would wear those when I need to… snack.” She murmured softly, no malicious intent in the last few words. In fact there was nothing malicious in those words at all.
When Epona figured the words sliced through the girls stare she turned back around and ran her hand along the microscope once more. ”You will learn how to use these properly within the next few weeks here in my lab. Things that you may have to do may burn that hair off so do remember to bring some bands to pull them back with.” She says softly with a glance back at the girl. ”I do enjoy your hair just like you do. It is different darling.” She nods before sweeping back to her lab and pointing at things to touch and not to touch. ”These vials hold poisons, those hold blood, some vampire some not, and these… these are… experimental drugs. Now, I again warn you, do not drink anything here unless they are on the food table.” She says picking up a vial of a neon purple liquid. ”This here is a drug that is at the moment in a very raw form, it could easily burn you from inside out. Very long death, torture. But we will not put you out of your misery if you should drink it, we shall study you to see how we can fix it. You are so warned.” She speaks clearly as she holds up the vial and then places it back onto the rack.
”Now dear, do you have any questions you must ask of me while you are standing there?” She questions and moves closer again, settling herself on a shelf right in front of the girl. ”Oh and, you will answer when I call you even if it is something like rat. You have close to no choice in that I would think. But, as I have said. I will allow you to tell me what to do that one time. You have used up that option for the remainder of your time with me. Unless I have proven you well enough to get another favor.” She says with a shrug, looking her up and down again, realizing that she did not yet take the cup she left on the food table however she had moved over to it. This caused a sigh to come from her lips and she stands up straight to head over to the table. She pulls the cup closer to her by hooking a finger into it and then she pulls over a crystal cup to fill with a sort of lemonade she had made for her. ”I apologize if I did not hear you before if you had a question about the drugs in the cup. I was.. excited to show you the lab.” She murmurs before turning around with the two things balanced in her hands.
”The drugs in the cup are opiates, in the last person who tried them there was a several hour high. However that lab rat did not have a tolerance to any sort of drug, and you I believe would have a slight tolerance to them.” She murmurs gently and hands the girl the two cups with a small curled smile.
Epona turns on her heel to go and sit back down where she was before, crossing her legs together and licking her lips. She could continue a conversation by herself with hours so this was like nothing; she was talking to a girl and not a mirror at least. ”It does not matter if you were high or drunk. I would prefer you to be neither when you come to my lab because my own experiments will need to be working on a… clean figure if you need to know. But I will… happily oblige a bite or two to get it out should you come like that continuously.” She whispers as she removes her eyes from the girls face to her neck, then down her body to her legs. Yes, she would definitely have fun sinking her teeth into a beautiful specimen such as Lexi as long as she would allow it. ”However if you should not want me to bite you then you could just ask me not to and I will not. I do not take unwilling people unless they are being threatening to myself or others I care for.” She nods her head slowly, hoping she would realize the emphasis on asking and not demanding.
”And along with that if anyone is to ever bother you then I would request you tell me so that I can go to them myself. I will protect you with all that I have. Though, few will cross the Oracle, and I would think few would cross the Oracles… pet.” She murmurs softly, running a hand through her hair for a moment before popping up from her spot.
Sitting in one place for too long was obviously a very big feat for Epona and she was often found pacing, like she was beginning to now, rather than sitting. Her eyes glanced up at Lexi quickly before averting themselves down and she clasped her hands behind her lower back. ”I know this must be a lot of talking and a lot of commentary but this is how I am. I feel more sorry for you when you need to take care of me because my… other self pops in for a moment. Sometimes my sanity is pretty wonky and I will not be how I am now. I talk all scientific right now but at times I will flip like a coin and become something rather annoying… Have you ever seen a twelve year old with candy in their systems or a twelve year old throwing a temper tantrum? Well, that’s how I am. I know I am too. After I feel pretty bad but it does happen and that is how I seem to take a break from everyday life.” She says gently before stopping next to Lexi and looking over her shoulder for a moment. As she did she froze as she sniffed the skin closest to her nose, this causes her to bite her lip, and growl slightly. ”And I would suggest staying at the other side of the room when that happens. I am not as gentle.” She whispers before leaning in closer to press a gentle kiss to the available skin, then going for another, her hand itching to wrap itself around her upper arm but instead she rips herself away from Lexi.
Her footsteps echo as her heels click on the floor to the opposite side of the lab. She squeaks and plops herself down on a shelf, ”I apologize. Um, go ahead and take what’s in the cup. I think it’s best if I stay over here for now. When you wish for me to come closer then I will, might, but for now I will stay here.” She says gently in a higher pitched voice turning around to look very closely at the bindings of the books behind her. They were more interesting than they ever had been before when her fangs were itching to sink themselves into skin, and her body was thrumming with the adrenaline that comes with wanting to taste new blood.
She would much rather not have her new lab rat—Lexi—runaway frightened because Epona decided to just attack her and ravage her right there on her food table. She would also much rather not just do that without permission no matter what anyone or anything said.
Rarely did older Vampires hold themselves back but Epona the Oracle did try very hard to keep herself from completely dirtying their Vampire names. It was definitely something that was not taught for them but more something she told herself she had to do to continue working with the humans she had as pets.
Epona lets out a small breath and glances back at Lexi for a moment, squinting her eyes before turning back to the book bindings she had been focusing on. No matter what she did in her mind to Lexi she was still a very beautiful specimen who fell into her lab and it wasn’t exactly going to be the easiest thing being around her all the time especially if she wore those clothes every single day.

Absently, the fairly insane little human pet let her eyes wander about the lab. Because it was an honest to god fecking lab. Well she had to admit this was one of the more interesting times that a vamp had picked her up. She was wondering how this particular stint would go. She didn’t think it’d last too long, they never seemed to. Lexi was a lot to handle and not everyone could do it. Feck, her own cousin wasn’t good at doing it so she didn’t hold it against anyone else who had a hard time doing just that.
But seriously. Feck. A lab. And the Oracle of all vamps in the world to pick up a nutcase like her. Lexi’s eyes darted over to the woman in question. Not that she seemed like she had all her marbles but hey, she wasn’t judging. It was good to know she wasn’t the only fucked up person in the room, right? Right. She shook her head, being surprised when she didn’t catch sight of that electric blue before remembering she had tied it up. She never tied that shit up, it was easier to get shit out of other people when it was down.
The Oracle, Epona, was speaking and Lexi—while she was sober she was a lot better at paying attention—looked over that way. Bothering to pay attention. Only when she was sober really. She arched a brow at the commentary. Well feck, maybe her file didn’t have all the shit that Lexi did. As long as her coat didn’t get ripped…the girl didn’t give a shit about being naked places. All the same, she was gonna keep that little tidbit to herself. ”I can’t garentee that I’ll remember that shit. And…well feck whatever floats your boat” the girl said with a shrug. She would do anything to get her highs without a care.
And getting bitten was her favorite high. She wanted to undress her so Lex could get that high? She had had worse. She had plenty of scars to prove it.
She groaned softly at the mention of pulling back her hair. She hated that. Feck though, she had been a pet for ages. She did what was expected of her usually. If she didn’t it was because she forgot. Because Lexi lived to forget every thought in her head. She then blinked when her hair was complimented, mostly because she hadn’t been expecting it. ”Um….Ta? “ she said, expecting that that had needed a thank you. Honestly, Lexi kept finding herself a bit too thrown off to be too much of her bitchy self. Which was weird for her. That never happened.
She blinked and tried to focus—something she had trouble with quite often—when the mention of what this shit was came up. Epona was talking a lot and Lexi tried to zone in, and certain things she certainly caught mention of, other things made her sigh. Well feck, she was screwed. She was going to die. Painfully apparently. Lexi was a space case at the best of times. She was going to think something was pretty while high, drink it, and kill her fecking self. Just you wait.
She looked up when she saw she was being spoken to and realized the vamp as damn close to her. Oh well she didn’t really have a personal bubble. She scowled at what was said though. There had been enough info take in that her bitch sensor had been a little bit turned off but the subject of her name pissed her off. Her scowl deepened ever so slightly. ”I’m just feckin’ warnin’ ye. I dunnae answer to Alexandria. Name me Pa used to call me when he beat me. So I dunnae answer to it.” she finally growled out with a huff. She didn’t care if she had used her one whatever or not. Lexi also knew that wasn’t particularly true. Her father had never called her jack shit. She was “Hey. You. Bitch.” But that name was associated with that life. Feck that. She was Lexi.
Her eyes flicked towards the cups that were held out her way as the woman explained what was in them. Opiates she could handle. Had before. She snorted at the comment. ”Understatement” she murmured at the comment about her tolerance. She kept her damn dealer in business. She took the cups when they were held out to her and then shrugged. Well fuck it. She was sick of being sober. This conversation was keeping her mind busy but she had already slipped up and mentioned her father. It was only a matter of time til she started to remember that shit too.
So bottoms up.
She took the contents of the one cup and chased it with the drink in the other, without much of a feck being given as to what she was taken once she knew the breed of it. She didn’t take things she didn’t know. Well now she knew.
She huffed at the comment about how she shouldn’t come drunk or high. Well there went all of what Lexi bothered to do with her life. Drunk or high. That was her. She tended to be nearly for most of her life. Her mother had always smoked shit around her, got her high. Her father had always given her alcohol even as a child to shut her up because she’d be too drunk to yell at him. All her life. So feck, well as long as she got shit here she could attempt to behave at least. Attempt.
She looked up and grinned, a wry little grin that perhaps was a tad influenced, slightly, by what was now in her system but for the most part it was her sober self. She flipped open the collar of her jacket, shrugging it down to her shoulders to reveal her neck and shoulders, reveal the bite scars that littered them. Vamps could heal their bites, and most other wounds, with a simple lick, their saliva healed shit. Some didn’t bother. Some liked leaving their mark. She resettled her jacket back once she figured she had made her point. ”You’ll never hear the likes of me ask you not to.” she said, with a snort.
Lexi blinked, honestly stumped, at the next words that Epona said. Did she just say she would protect her? No one but her cousin had ever protected her. No one protected a screwed up druggie like her. She didn’t even know what to say, she just sorta blinked like an idiot and then shrugged, trying to blow it off as a yeah, whatever.
She was a little off her game still when Epona went into explaining ho she could get, about the twelve year old and other persona. She didn’t really much take it in, she had been around wired and insane vamps before, that as generally who Lexi got passed off to in the past after all. But that was something else. She doubted she’d remember. She was starting to slip a little bit. Oh well, she supposed. She’d try to remember because that seemed like a damn important thing to remember to her.
She didn’t move either, when Epona came close. Part of her, the part of her that never really slept, was hoping for more than just the kiss to the skin that she got, but that was because Lexi was a druggie, ruled by the things she craved at nearly all times. Yup, she thought she got that. Stay far away. She could do that. She hoped. Sometimes she could be an idiot.
The vampire pulled away and the little human nutcase couldn’t resist a huff. She said to take what was in the cup and Lexi realized it was still in her hands, empty. She tilted it towards Epona with an arch of her dark brows. ”Oops?” she said, with a sarcastic little grin. Nope, still sober enough to be a bitch. Good to know.
She wasn’t used to the other sorts of things she said. Staying away until asked. No one asked the likes of her. She shook her head. ”Ya know, fer all that you insist you’d tear things and shit, and saying things that are a little…off. You’re weirdly nice.” she felt the need to say as her lime green eyes wandered the lab absently. Yep. Yep. She was definitely feeling a kick of the damn drug. No other reason she ould have said that shit outloud.
