Night: the most intriguing part of life, causing fear among most, however Nadine found solitude in the sweet caress of the darkness. Interesting though, night time was the main cause for the absence of her parents. As she trekked through the enchanted forest, the shadows from the moon cast an eerie glow along the trees and altered the normally harmless appearance. The trees seemed to loom over her as she climbed over the tree roots in hopes of finding a dirt path. She wasn't afraid, however, she didn't want to get lost in the forest. Nadine had only been here for a few days and did not want to lose track of the direction she was going. The exploration of the woods was a bit difficult, seeing as she always had to go at night to avoid being seen. This was all different to Nadine, a new chapter in life.
After a few minutes of aimless wandering, Nadine contemplated turning around and going back to camp. She had been on her way to fulfill her duties as a 'spy', but was now losing interest in making her way to town. Instead, she gazed around the nature surrounding her, trying to locate somewhere she might be able to relax. Besides the sounds of the animals, the forest was relatively quiet and she reveled in that fact. The camp always seemed to be bustling with people, even though numbers were limited. Ever since she arrived in the camp she found herself struggling to achieve some alone time away from the busy camp life.
A large oak tree stood in Nadine's path and she took this as her chance to rest. However, instead of sitting down at the base of the tree among the roots like most would, she thought better than that. With a small sigh escaping her lips, Nadine's gaze drug up the tree, sizing it up to see where she could climb. Spotting the lowest limb, she gripped it with thin fingers and hoisted herself up, struggling slightly. The one complaint she had about her physical body was her lack of strength. Pulling herself up onto the branch had taken a lot of strength, which was already very scarce for Nadine.
Now, she was situated a few feet above eye level, enough that someone wandering by would actually have to look up to see her. Nadine wasn't stupid, she knew vampires would still be able to smell her, but she wasn't concerning herself with the thought at the moment. She had a small knife tucked in the rear of her boot for dire circumstances. Nadine leaned her back against the tree and pulled her legs up, relaxing. Originally she hadn't been tired, but the peaceful sound of the forest around her was gently lulling her to sleep as the trunk of the tree cradled her.
