Absently Pride traced along just above and just below his lips. To the normal person, there was absolutely nothing there, but Pride knew better. He wished he didn’t, but he knew better. No, thanks to his affinity there was nothing, no trace or mar along his skin. He knew it existed though, he knew what should be there. There should be a good dozen or so little bumps along those lips of his. Why? Because his lips had been, quite literally, sewn shut about a month or so ago. He shuddered remembering it. He’d rather put that out of his head entirely.
Pride had absolutely no scars from his encounter with Immie, thanks to his affinity. He supposed that he should be grateful for that, it meant that there were no reminders from the time he had been kidnapped and tortured all because he was dating the girl that a madman wanted. But at the same time, he absolutely still remembered where each and every one should go, he remembered how it felt to be passed out constantly because his affinity was overworking itself to keep up with all that she did, as she slowly got more violent because his affinity frustrated her.
Pride had no scars from after the time that his affinity kicked in. Not that he didn’t have plenty from before that moment, being that he had been kidnapped for most of his life. He shuddered thinking about that. That was his greatest fear and it had happened again. And so it had him a little bit out of it. Okay, more than a little bit out of it. But what could he do? He couldn’t help that his worst fear had happened to him. Or that he had associated it with Raea, so it was hard to look at her.
He felt so horrible about that. But it was for the better that they had separated. He was a mess, and she deserved better than that. And he couldn’t move past it while he was with her, as selfish as that sounded. He needed to think about both of them and he had, though it had also hurt both of them. He had expected that when he had done it, and now he was taking the backlash for it and wishing he could do more to take it from her. But he couldn’t. He just couldn’t.
Flopping back on his bed, the young vampire trained his eyes on the ceiling absently. He figured that he should probably go do something. HE should take Juno for a run or…something. But he just… He was a little lost in his emotions and his thoughts right in that moment. It happened sometimes. Sometimes he could be fully functional, go for runs with Juno and go to class and do all of that good stuff. And sometimes he just…stopped. He couldn’t make himself bother with anything at all, and would just…do this. Lie on his bed and do not much of anything.
He should at least get dressed, he thought with a little chuckle. And then he shook his head. He had jeans on but no shirt. He didn’t see the point of he wasn’t going to go about leaving his room. Pride absently trailed a finger along the scar that ran along his chest, from a knife. He had gotten in the way of “Father” hurting one of the other children and had payed the price for it. Usually he could avoid getting hurt, for some reason Father had never hurt him. Not unless he got in the way.
But Pride was just that wy, he couldn’t help wanting to take the pain for other people, wanting to jump in the line of fire nd take the blow. He hated bullies and if he could stop them in any way, he would. Even if it meant that he was getting hurt for it. He could take it. He supposed that was why he had turned into a healer after getting marked. It made sense. He always threw himself in the way and got hurt, he should be able to recover for his good deeds or something.
Perhaps this was why he was so beat up right now, it was his fault someone else was hurting and he couldn’t take the pain for that, not when it was technically his fault.
All the sudden his phone vibrated against the nightstand, the loud vibrate shocking him and making him flinch as the light from the screen illuminated the dark room. He blinked and turned on the light that sat next to his phone before he grabbed it off the table so it wouldn’t keep making that obnoxious buzzing noise as it skittered across the table like some perverse breed of beetle.
He picked it up and saw that it was Andy texting him and a small smile, unbidden, tugged at his lips. It was hard not to smile around Andy, they had only hung out once or twice before, and she was just such a happy girl who seemed determined to make everyone else around her damn happy too. It was a bit refreshing for him to be around in his current state, even though part of him was perfectly fine with what he was doing. He realized he had to be happy again some day, as guilty as it made him feel to be happy.
He had to work on being happy again.
He tapped open the message and read what she said. Mysterious and not telling much, her message just told him to meet her at the rec center. He shook his head. Part of him wanted to tell her he couldn’t that he had other plans. But she’d see right through that and probably drag him there anyway. So he replied letting her know he’d be there in about ten minutes and pushed himself out of bed. He tugged on shoes and then a long sleeved shirt the same color of his eyes, before tugging on a black coat over that. Juno leapt up from the corner, excited. They were going somewhere? He shook his head but he nodded a little to her. He doubted Andy would mind if he brought the pup along.
And then the pair of them were out the door.
He made his way over to the rec center and let himself inside the relatively empty area, peeking around to try and see where Andy was. ”Andy?” he called out as he entered, trying to figure out where the girl that had called him here was.

Andy Karkanis was beyond excited at the moment. She couldn't even think of how she felt right then. She wanted to find a word to explain just how excited she was, but none of them seemed to fit. None of them seemed to convey how excited she was. Why was she so excited you may ask? Andy was going to see Pride. Pride was her new friend. She liked him, she liked being around him and she liked how being around him made her feel and made him feel. He seemed to have a lot of darkness within him. Not that he had told her this because they had only hung out a few times but Andy new, Andy had darkness too. Andy had a lot of darkness, Andy's though was hidden.
No one ever knew about what lurked inside her because for the most part. Andy was an entirely happy girl. She loved to grin and laugh and dance and have a good time. It was a rare occurrence to see her frown. She was just usually a very happy person and she liked it that way. So she thought that she should share that with others. So that was her mission, share her happiness with the world. A little bit of sarcasm too while she was at it. She smirked a little at the thought. A person who was just happy all the time seemed a little weird, but a person that was happy and sarcastic, well that was much much better. Not that Andy cared what anyone thought of her. It was besides the point. The point of everything today actually, was that she was going to see Pride.
She was going to cheer up Pride that is, she had sent him a text to meet her in the rec center and he had agreed like she had hoped. If he hadn't she would not have accepted defeat so easily. She would have shown up at his dorm and ripped him out of his room with her bare hands if she had too, He needed to get out and stop brooding around about all the things that had gone wrong in his life. He needed to relax and enjoy as many simple things as possible, which was why she was happily going to show him how great some of the simple things were.
She stepped outside of her dorm room into the crisp night air with a big smile on her face. She was not dressed for this weather but she really didn't care at all. She was sorta dressed for it anyway. She had on high combat boots that tied in the front and went all the way up to her thigh. She had black tight pants that clung to her and an odd top that was half coat half belly shirt. She was wearing it just for the fuck of it. Andy did that a lot. She wore thing and did things just for the fuck of it, cause she wanted to. Life was so short, why not live it to the best that you could? The coat shirt, covered up her chest and he arms and back and had wicked cool buttons on the lapels but, the front of it had no stomach.
In hind sight, for Andy, buying this was probably not the best idea. Andy had two scars on her stomach in the shape of an X. They were puckered and not the most appealing thing. Pride had yet to see them, but she figured there would be no time like the present. Though she hated them and a lot of the time she wanted to hide them and hide herself away, she knew that she didn't need to do that right now. She needed to show Pride, openness and happiness. and she was going to to do her damnedest to do so.
She ran all the way to the Rec center and went into the first room in the building where she was sure Pride was going to enter and hid for a moment. She shivered slightly because she was cold from being outside in her odd outfit choice and also because it was creepy and quiet in there. She wanted Pride to get there as fast possible. As she was thinking that, she heard a door open and she grinned a little with the anticipation of seeing him and having a fun day. Andy loved to have fun, and by the end of the day she was going to see a grin on Prides face, if it was the last thing she did.
She heard him speak, heard him call out her name and she grinned a bit more. She waited a few moments before grinning and flicking on a light and jumping out to say hi. Before she could say hi to him though, she noticed that he had his dog Juno there. She grinned. She loved this dog.
"Juno!!!"Andy launched herself over to Pride and his dog and she hugged the dog tightly, she tickled the dogs fur and kissed her snout and laughed for a little bit before standing and looking at Pride. She was so glad that he had come. This was going to be great. They were going to have the best time and he was going to be happy, which meant she was going to be happy. No darkness to speak of, nothing but happiness.
"So...you ready to stop hiding in your room and have a little fun with me?"she asked with a grin and very clear sarcasm in her voice. She was setting the tone. Today would be lighthearted full of fun with a little side of just plain damn happy. At least that was what she was hoping for. She grinned a little bit and pet Juno as she waited for him to answer her. She was pretty content to pet the dog while she waited for him. She looked at him, noticing how upset he looked even though he was here. It just made her want to try and have a day of happy even more. She didn't think that he deserved to be sad. She thought that he deserved to have every happiness that a person could get. Sure, she wouldn't be able to give it to all at once, but she would be damned if she didn't try.

Pride had really debated telling Andy he couldn’t come out when he had gotten her text message. He had a million and one excuses in his head to tell her that he couldn’t. They ranged from the down right not true like he was out in town to the ones that hit closer to him, he had a headache and couldn’t leave his room or something. But he also knew that she would see through each one and tell him he was avoiding things. And go to his room to drag him out because she’d know that was where he was.
It was weird how they had just met, how they had only hung out a few times, and yet he knew how she’d react. Maybe because she had done it already, or maybe it was just because that was how her personality seemed to him. It was probably a mix of both. He wasn’t entirely sure why she was so determined to drag him out all the time, they barely knew each other but she seemed to have made it her personal mission to make sure he didn’t hide himself in his room for the rest of his life. Or at least for the rest of the semester.
But here she was, every time, dragging him out. Part of him liked it, just because she was so happy she could help him forget everything for a time and just be dragged into her happy little world. He was jealous she seemed so happy all the time, and he was so caught up in his own darkness, there was no way he could spot hers. He might hve if he was in his right mind, but at this moment he was so far from that that it was easy for him to just…not notice.
Either way, he had done the right thing, the thing that wouldn’t involve her going to his room to drag him out, and told her that he’d be right there. He put on a shirt that covered up the scars he thought should be there but weren’t because of his affinity, and told Juno she could come along. She was good the whole walk there, if a little bit over-hyper because she hadn’t had her run that day. SO she was basically running circles around him the entirely time he was walking over there, or running away from him and then running back to get her energy out.
He finally made his way over to the rec center and entered it. It seemed dark and weird and that made it a little bit creepy, along with the fact that it was dark as well. He was totally debating backing out and waiting for her outside because it seemed deserted in there. But instead he called out to her to see if she was actually in there and he entered slightly, Juno running in first, all excited. That was what gave him the clue that she was here already.
He closed the door behind him and couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips when she popped out to energetically greet his dog. She flicked on the light before she did and he winced a little at the sudden brightness, but he couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips. Juno’s tail wagged so fast Pride worried it would fall off as his dog licked her face and energetically returned her greeting. If Andy loved Juno, well, it was easy to see that she loved her right back just as much. She howled happily and kept on looking for more love from the girl, even when she pulled back to look at Pride.
It was only when she straightened that he noticed the scars. They were in the shape of an X across her stomach and he couldn’t help looking there, though he quickly looked away, not wanting to be caught staring. What had caused those, he wondered? He had never seen them before. Of course, they would be covered by her clothes usually and were now only shown because of her outfit. But he couldn’t help noticing them now, with them bared to the world.
He wanted to ask, he wanted to see if he could lessen them, at least make them seem older and not so new and red. He wanted to ask what happened or try to comfort her for reasons that didn’t make sense to him. But that was all weird and awkward, wasn’t it? Or maybe it was just the healer in him. His fingers twitched as he fought the need to touch her gently and heal them if he could or lessen them at least but he clenched his hands into fists to stop that feeling, that was just…not right to ask.
He was so debating trying to escape again, he couldn’t do this. He was so not ready to interact with the world yet. He didn’t care how pathetic that was, or how much all of his family would smack him for it, it just… Ugh, he was still all out of it. He had reason to be, didn’t he? He had gotten kidnapped—his worst fear—and his mouth sewn shut, and his legs broken and…a lot as Immie had tried to go faster than his healing could because it had frustrated her. He frowned a little.
Her words shocked him out of his thoughts and he blinked and looked back at her, careful to look at her face, at her green and gold eyes, and not at her stomach where the scars were because that would be a rude, and completely awkward thing to do.
His expression, while still sort of out of it and not really all that happy, took on a sheepish quality at her words. ”I wasn’t hiding” he answered automatically. And then he sighed and shoved his hands into his pockets which had Juno nudging him with her head before running back over to Andy because she liked Andy. He might as well not lie, she knew the truth obviously and it wouldn’t help anyone for him to lie. Besides, when was Pride ever a liar? He couldn’t. He always admitted the truth almost minutes after he lied. Like now. ”Okay, maybe I was a little.”
He shook his head a little and tried on a small smile, which didn’t feel…entirely…out of place. ”So what exactly is your definition of fun?” he asked, just a tiny bit wary. Andy was a bit wild, just a bit. But that was good for him right now. Even if he wouldn’t admit it.

Andy was entirely excited to see Pride. She had wanted to see him for quite some time but he had been so busy sulking lately that she wasn't sure if she was going to be able to see him at all. Didn't he know that sulking was no fun and that actually fun was much better? Well apparently he didn't. That didn't mean much though, because Andy was going to show him just how fun, fun could be. Andy was an expert on making the most out of any situation. She had lived a hard life before she came here but she never liked to harp on it, or sit there feeling sorry for herself because of it. It wouldn't be fair for herself to sit there and waste away because she was sad.
So she wasn't going to let Pride do that either. She liked him, as a friend of course. More then that, well she wasn't ready to talk about that. Neither was he so she would work with him and take things slow because Andy understood his grief. She was just not going to let him be consumed by it. He was a good guy, Andy had not met many of those. So she was not going to let the most decent one she had ever met waste away in his room. She was happy to bring him out of his little depression.
She had been debating what she was going to do with him for awhile, but she settled on it. She was going to bring him to the pool. She loved to swim. She loved being in the water and under it. It was a wonderful experience for her and she was happy to do it whenever she could. Besides, it was good exercise, so it was an awesome situation all together. Andy grinned as she thought about all the fun they would have. Andy hadn't brought a bathing suit but there were two reasons for that. One: She hadn't been sure whether she was taking Pride up to the roof or to the pool and Two: She usually didn't wear one unless she felt like it or she had too. It was so rare that anyone actually used the pool these days that it would be perfectly fine for her to show up without one. She doubted anyone else would be there.
So she had been waiting for Pride to come along when she heard him come in with his dog. She hadn't counted on him showing up with Juno but she should have figured and she was pretty glad that he did. She loved that dog, she was beautiful and wonderful and totally in agreement with Andy about the sulking and she knew it. She grinned happily when she heard them and left her hiding place to go and pet the dog. Like she had expected. The dog was over joyed and happy to see her. Andy was happy to see her, she was hoping Pride felt the same way but it was pretty hard to tell with him frowning all the time. She did get little smiles out of him and that was usually good enough.
She looked up at him and noticed him looking at her scars. She knew that was going to happen though. How could not look at the jagged X shaped scars on her stomach? They were huge and red and puckered because they were brand new scars. Well not brand new, but new enough that they hurt when she lied down and twisted certain ways. She was waiting for him to ask about them but he didn't seem to want to. She shrugged it off, he could ask when he was ready to. Which might be today or some other time. She wasn't exactly sure. If he asked she would explain what they were, she wasn't going to tell him full story because it was a bit much for them not knowing each other so well but some day she might. Some day she might tell him the full story of Princess Andorra Karkanis...Ugh. She never wanted to have that thought again.
She grinned at him still, even with all of these thoughts in her head. She asked him if he was done hiding and ready to come out and have fun with her and grinned. He hoped he was. He said he wasn't hiding and she rolled her eyes at him, she was about to speak when he said maybe a little and she grinned at him again.
He then asked her what her definition of fun was and she grinned a bit and pet Juno's fur a little bit more.
"Well you will just have to wait and see now won't you Mr. Drakos?"She grinned a little bit and then looked down the hall and back at him. "Come on."
She patted Juno on the head and then began to skip down the hall as fast as she could go and laughed the whole time. This is what life was all about. Having fun, having a good time and just being happy. Even though things were hard. You just had to do your best to have a good time.
She grinned as she got to the double doors to the pool and pulled them open and waited for them and closed the door behind them. She wondered if Juno would hop in the pool too, just thinking of her doggy paddling made her laugh out loud.
"This is my idea of fun" She told him with a grin. "The question is...Are you ready?" She grinned and pulled off her pants without ceremony. She wasn't afraid to show off her body, otherwise she would have never wore this outfit that showed off her scars.
She pulled off her top and bra and underwear and then jumped right into the water. She felt so good as she went under and felt the force of the water pulling her up. The water pushed her back up and she wiped her eyes and looked up at him with a grin.
"Jump in!" She wasn't leaving him much of a choice. He didn't have one, he was going to have fun like it or not.

There was a fight for a moment internally as a smile tugged at the corners of Pride’s lips. He didn’t wish to smile, honestly, because he found himself so entirely out of it and stuck in his own internal darkness. It was something that had been plaguing him ever since that tiny nut job had kidnapped and tortured him. There was something almost worse about the way that he didn’t have any scars from it either. There were no markers to signify he had been through anything, he simply seemed to be deeply hidden inside his shadows that he couldn’t get out of.
But at the same time, it was hard not to smile at the way that Andy had affectionately greeted Juno. Juno adored Andy, because she was such a free spirit and also because Juno adored just about everyone. She also seemed to have a sixth sense and note that it was Andy who kept getting him out and in that manner, in some strange way, the two females before him were conspiring against him and his need to hide himself away for a good long while to come. He supposed that could be it too. Traitors bonding.
He watched the pair of them greet each other, with Juno’s tail wagging so fast he thought it might fall off, but that was just the way that the dog was, she was affectionate towards people she thought Pride liked. He shook his head and watched, absently running his fingers through his hair. Part of him wanted to run back, to hide away inside his room again. But he was pretty sure that if he tried she would just come and drag him back out again. She seemed to be developing a talent for that, and it unnerved him slightly. Mostly because it meant he just spent that much time in his room.
When she straightened, he saw her scars. They were relatively new and he couldn’t help the way that his fingers twitched, wanting to heal them. He couldn’t help it, even though he knew he wouldn’t be able to heal a scar, once they scarred and all. He figured that she didn’t mind being that they were out in the open, but all the same he felt bad for staring and moved his eyes to her face, his deep blue meeting her green and gold flecked eyes before they moved elsewhere, not confident enough for that.
Not just yet anyway.
His eyes went back to her face though, forcing himself to focus on her. He had let himself be dragged out, he was going to make an effort to not be so shadow ridden and horrible about it. He was trying, to smile, to be a whole person. He could do it around others, he could do it in class, but Andy always seemed to see right through that and that unsettled him more than a little bit, mostly because it meant he couldn’t hide.
She was grinning, as always, but she rolled her eyes at him when he said he wasn’t hiding. Which prompted him to correct himself. Okay, so maybe he had been hiding a little bit, but what was he supposed to say about that? He had been through an ordeal, so now he was keeping himself more than a little bit locked away. He didn’t see anything wrong with that because, well, mostly because he was depressed so he didn’t really have a reason. Poor Juno wasn’t getting the exercise she should and he felt bad for that but he just couldn’t bring himself to move.
He had to ask her what her definition of fun was, mostly because he was a little bit wary about her bringing him out here. He was never quite sure with her. Perhaps that was a good thing because it kept him on his toes and out of his thoughts but it also made him a bit quicker to hang back, to avoid the possibility of being hurt again. He sighed. Wasn’t he just turning out to be a regular cheery person? He never used to be like this, even after years of being kidnapped as a child.
She answered him, telling him he’d have to wait and see and then the smile, ever so hesitant and barely there, did make an appearance at the corners of his mouth. ”That scares me just a little bit” he answsered, with the smile still in place, even if he knew that it wouldn’t stay for too much longer. It never really did anymore, which was depressing in and of itself. He was working on it. Sort of. Okay, not really. She told him to come on and he shook his head. But Juno took her up on her invitation when she began to skip, she ran off after the fledgling, howling all the way because she thought this was a fun new game. Juno also really needed more exercise and this showed it because she was excitable about every little thing.
He followed after the pair of them, having no idea where exactly he was being led but deciding to just let it be for now. That was what was best when it came to this girl, he was beginning to figure out.
She ran down the hall, with Juno at her heels, laughing all the way and he shook his head as he followed, walking. She was an odd one but he envied the fact that she seemed so happy all the time. He missed that feeling but he wasn’t ready to really welcome it back, not just yet. He followed her and then blinked, surprised, when he saw where they ended up. The pool? He supposed he would have gotten the hint had he been payin g attention but he hadn’t been really. He had been thinking off in his own head.
She told him this was her idea of fun and he shook his head, a small smile once more. Swimming, when was the last time he had been swimming? A long time ago. Not since before he had come here really he thought. He would have answered her but in that moment she took off her pants, without much of a care. And he turned bright red. Why? Because he wasn’t expecting it and also, well, duh. She was stripping and he wasn’t the type of dude to sit there and ogle. He was more of the old soul gentleman type.
Now not that he didn’t want to look. He was male. And he wasn’t a virgin. But it just seemed improper, it seemed like it wasn’t his place to look. She wasn’t his girlfriend, and his mind wasn’t really there right now. He blushed bright red and looked away, turning his head. He heard the splash that signified that Juno had jumped in, overeager for a bit of exercise.
She spoke and he looked over, still about as red as a lobster, and noted that she was in the water, with Juno. The water distorted the fact that she was naked but he was still pretty dang aware of it. She told him to come in and he shook his head a little. ”I don’t have a suit,” he said before scolding himself. SO? She didn’t either. She wasn’t going to take that as an excuse and he knew it.
He sighed and shook his head. He didn’t really have a choice did he? After a moment he pulled off his shirt, revealing scars of his own. Those that came from before he had the ability to heal himself because of his affinity. Those that came at the mercy of a very different kidnapper. But they were older, older from a time way before and he usually didn’t think about them. It was easy to put them out of his mind and he barely noticed as he pulled off his shirt, reluctantly. And then more reluctantly tugged off his pants, and tossed it in the growing pile. But the boxers stayed on, he wasn’t as confident as the nutty girl in the water. After a moment he jumped in.
Fine, she won.

Andy was so excited, but they let's face it. Andy was almost always excited. She almost always had a very large grin on her face and there was almost nothing that could take it away. Unless of course, they were talking of things of her past. Andy did not talk about thing of her past. No one here knew about anything about her and she liked it that way, if things stayed that way then she could continue to skip with a smile and be happy. Besides, if she was unhappy how was she supposed to make others happy?
Like Pride for instance. She grinned. Pride needed her. He needed someone to show him that even though shit sucks some times. It's okay to be happy and smile and continue living life. If you didn't then what? You would just wallow in nothing and be unhappy? Andy couldn't allow Pride to do that, she liked him. The more she hung out with him actually the more she liked him. She wasn't sure what it was about him, but it was something. Not that she was going to put the moves on him or anything. He wasn't ready, when he was then she would put the moves on him.
Either way she had invited Pride out so that he would actually get out of his room and was overjoyed when he actually showed. Not like he had much of a choice in the matter though. If he hadn't showed she would have shown up there and yanked him out by his ears. She was pretty sure his lovely puppy Juno would have helped. She grinned. She loved that Puppy so much. She had greeted her when they got there and she noticed Pride smile a little bit. Any time she smiled she felt like she was winning some sort of game. It was stupid but in her head she was earning points for making him feel better.
Andy was so excited for them to go to the pool and have a great time. While they had been standing there, he had asked her what her idea of fun was and she told him that he was going to have to wait and see. He said that that scared him and it made Andy laugh. She had told him to come on and then she and Juno had raced down the hall way to go and get to the pool. Andy felt more excitement race through her as she got closer to it. This was going to be fun, it had to fun.Why wouldn't it be fun?
She was determined to make sure that it was. Some times she thought that she should organize parties or something just cause she knew what was fun and what wasn't but then she remembered that she hated shit like that and just forgot about it. When they got there Andy grinned. Pride looked sort of confused but she didn't care much. She told him that this was her idea of fun and then she stripped right in front of him.
Andy had no shame when it came to her body. She had seen him staring at her scars before, if she had shame she would have tried to cover them up or something. She was proud of her body, she wasn't proud of how she got the scars or why they were there in the first place but she was damned proud of her body and there was no way she was going to cover it up, even if it was making Pride blush.
To spare him any more discomfort she jumped right into the water and savored the feeling of the water wrapped around her. She felt like the water was a shield that protected her body as she swam through it, it was silly, but she always felt like every molecule just attached to her and she was safe and completely encased in the water, and she loved it. She noticed paws as she swam and came up laughing to see Juno also now swimming in the water, which just left Pride.
She laughed and yelled at him to Jump in and he screamed back at her that he didn't have a suit. Andy rolled her eyes. Was he kidding? Was he really kidding? That was so not an excuse, before she could call him out on this though, she noticed him starting to strip and she watched unashamedly. What? He had seen her hadn't he? She noticed that he had fine scars on him as she watched and she almost frowned. She wondered how they had happened, which was probably what he had been wondering when he had seen her scars out in the open. Maybe they would trade war stories one day. He took off his pants, but she was not surprised that he didn't take off his boxers. She knew he wasn't as confident as she was. He did jump in though and she clapped and laughed triumphantly.
He just needed to let loose, and she was going to be there to help him get out of his shell and smile again. She was going to help him be happy again. She wanted too, like she had said before, there was something about Pride, something that made her want to help him. She wanted to be there for him and she wanted to show him that life was not over, actually it was just beginning.
She swam over to him with a big grin on her face. She was still naked of course, and she was hoping the water was distorting her enough that he didn't need to feel uncomfortable but still. "Wasn't that invigorating? I love the water. " She heard Juno splash a little bit behind them and she laughed happily. This was what life was all about, and she was going to show him it all. She was going to show him that everything in life could and would get better, because that was just who Andy was, and who she would continue to be.

Pride had no idea what was going on here. Well, he had a hunch; he usually did when it came to Andy. She was determined to have a lot of fun all the time, and he envied her that most of the time. But that was mostly because he found himself unable to focus on having any sort of fun , he was just so deep into this funk of his and it was constantly driving him under more and more. He just found himself constantly feeling like he couldn’t make himself feel happy again. He was always in this dark mood.
But she seemed so determined to pull him out of it. And he appreciated that, of course, but he found it hard to throw himself into it. Most of the time, when she called, he found himself wanting to say that he couldn’t, so that he could mope around in his room instead. But he had found out when he had done this the first few times she had called, she would come to his room and drag him out if he didn’t have a good reason not to be going out, which he often times didn’t have.
One of those such days had been today. She had called when he had been intent on just sitting in his room and doing nothing and attempted to drag him out. And he had debated just staying home and telling her he couldn’t but, again, he had learned that that was a bad idea and it often didn’t work. And here he was, at the pool of all the things in the world. He had not been expecting for her to take him here. The thought hadn’t even crossed his mind, not once. But here she had dragged him.
Juno, of course, had loved it and had jumped right on in without any sort of pause. She needed more exercise, much more than he had been giving her over the past few days. He felt bad, he should have been taking her out, giving her her runs because she needed that but he hadn’t been able to. He just couldn’t get himself to. So she was absolutely ecstatic to get into the pool and go swimming around so that she could get her exercise in for today at the very least.
And then there was Andy.
He supposed that he should have expected something like this from her. It seemed exactly like her to just randomly strip with absolutely no shame whatsoever, and of course that was exactly what she did. He didn’t have any sort of warning either before she went about that. It was impossible for him nto to get a glimpse of her bare skin—which admittedly, he was male, he couldn’t help that momentary look at her—before he could manage to look away. Because, honestly, he was a gentleman and he wasn’t going to sit there and ogle a girl he wasn’t dating while she stripped.
Not that part of him didn’t want to but that was the part that wasn’t entirely awake. Or part of him right then. But…oh now he was getting himself more than a little bit confused in the matter of her stripping and being bare in front of him. She didn’t seem to care but he had to look away, he had to be polite. He only looked back when he heard the splash and noticed that she had gone into the water, and thus he really didn’t have to worry about that again.
That didn’t mean that he wasn’t bright red of course. He was just the type that blushed very easily, and stuff like that was quick to make him blush.
She yelled at him to get in the water and he had shaken his head and told her that he didn’t have his suit. And she looked like she was going to yell at him for it. Which meant that, of course, he knew it wasn’t an acceptable answer. Of course not, she hadn’t had a suit either and she had stripped down and jumped right in to the water. So he had sighed and started to strip down himself as well, though he did keep his boxers on.
He took a deep breath and jumped in, hearing her laugh as he did. He shook his head and popped up out of the water. He ran his fingers through his hair, pushing his hair out of his eyes and couldn’t help but smile more than a little bit. He sighed too though, she had dragged him right in here just like she had planned. But it was hard for him not to feel a little bit more laid back and feel himself relaxing a little bit more because of how happy she was. She just infected all with it, it was hard not to react.
She swam over towards him and he blinked. Of course he should have expected that and the water entirely covered up how unclothed the pair of them were—which made it easier for him honestly—he couldn’t help but remember the fact that they were. And she was much more than him. But the water distorted it, even though he knew it was there—or not there as it were. He needed to stop thinking about this, he wasn’t making any sense.
She talked about the water, about it being invigorating, and she just laughed at Juno and it was hard not to smile at her. He tried. But he just couldn’t manage not to. ”I haven’t swam in…I don’t know how long” he admitted, smiling a little bit at her. ”I didn’t even know Juno would like to swim” he admitted, more than a little bit sheepishly. He realized he hadn’t answered her question about it being invigorating but he wasn’t entirely sure how to answer that, so he just left it unanswered for now. He would admit that this was better than sitting in his room, but he was still in the dark, still a bit in the mood to mope.

Andy loved being in the water. She always had. She remembered when she had been younger, she would sneak out of the castle with her favorite guard who always protected her. They would run down the large hill that the castle she and her family lived in was on top of and he would follow after her just to make sure that she was safe. There was a very large lake at the bottom of the hill. Her parents, they knew about it but they didn't know how often that their little princess would go and escape down there just to get away from all the pains of the day. Water was part of Andy's freedom. She was so happy when she would get down to the bottom, it was just her and the water, no silly commands. No stupid lessons that she didn't want to be part of. She didn't have anything to worry about, it was just her and the water. She would jump into the lake and she would see the fish swimming in it and it would just make her feel happy, those were some of the happiest time she had ever had while she had lived with her parents.
It wasn't all that different now. She would use the water as an escape for the events that happened after. She was far away from her royal family now and none of them knew where she was either. She liked it that way, she hoped that they thought she was dead and that it was all their fault. If it wasn't for that guard of hers who had helped her escape when everything had hit the fan, she probably would have been dead. She wasn't though and that was the key point in all of this. Andy was not dead, she was alive and she was away from them and she was happy. Happy as all hell.
Besides, she didn't have time to wallow about her past. She needed to worry about Pride, Pride the friend that she had made that was so depressed. She thought he was adorable, in many ways. She knew that he would be a great friend and she wasn't exactly sure what else, but she was excited to find out when and if the time came. Even so, she had made it her mission to make Pride not depressed. So what so many things had gone wrong? She knew what that was like. Things could get better, they did for her. They would for him too, it was convincing him of that which was the problem.
She was happy to invite him out and show him what she thought was fun, show him what she thought was amazing and how she escaped it all. Being under the water was such a freeing feeling. Even though the water felt like a little shield around her body, it felt like a little shield of protection that was around her body. Something that stopped anything else from actually getting inside of her little wall, something that protected her from all the bad thoughts she could ever have even though most of the time Andy was the happiest person that she knew. Even with all of that the bad thoughts crept in and the water was her way to escape it, sometimes. She wanted to share that with Pride, maybe he could escape it too. She wanted him to be able to escape, she knew that she could make him feel better if he would just let her.
Which is why she brought him with her. She was happy when his puppy that she loved jumped in the water before him. It was proof that he needed to get in the water. She loved that puppy, she was such a cutie and she was on her side most of the time which was helpful to Andy when she wanted Pride to do something and he was being less than cooperative.
Oh he was hesitant about getting in, but she knew that was going to happen. There was something about Pride that was very proper and she wasn't exactly sure why that was but it was firm inside of him and she thought it was cute that he was such a gentleman but they were just swimming. It wasn't like she was just stripping down naked in front of him for kicks. Though that did sound like something that she would do, but that wouldn't be happening right now. She wasn't a slut or anything. At least she didn't think she was. If you asked her parents they had a different answer, but that was also a different story.
Either way she knew that he was going to be hesitant because of the fact that she had stripped down entirely naked before jumping right in. She was entirely expecting it. Either way she expected him to get in anyway. There was no way she was going to let him sit there and watch her and the dog play all by themselves. What fun would that be? If he even tried she would have to call him a stick in the mud for the rest of however long they knew each other. She didn't care.
Luckily for him he decided that he was going to jump in and she had grinned when he did and she swam over to him. Her hair was dark and damp, even the blonde down at the ends of her hair were a little darker, but she knew that her green eyes were full of light and that the gold flecks inside of them seemed a bit brighter. She was happy and having a good time and she was going to keep doing so, which meant that her eyes would be bright, she knew herself.
When she got over to Pride she tried to ignore him blushing. He seemed to be ignoring the question that she had asked him but she decided to let it slide when he said that he hadn't been swimming in a really long time. Andy really felt like she had done a good thing here. He then spoke saying that he didn't know that Juno would like to swim and she grinned
"Of course she would, she's a very playful puppy, besides...it's great exercise. Before I moved here, I used to swim in a lake near my house all the time" She didn't explain any further. It wasn't time for that story.
She grinned at him and decided she was going to be playful. "Catch me if you can!" She moved her body upwards bringing it out of the water and flopped back into the water and swam away as quick as she could. She wanted to play.

Pride couldn’t believe he was here. After spending all of his time in his room, he hadn’t pictured that he would be at the rec center, let alone at the pool. Which was probably because Pride didn’t often swim. Most people found that it was freeing, and he could agree with that. But he had never really learned how to get past the basics that you were taught as a kid because he had had his childhood interrupted when he was young.
And then learning as he was older was just not appealing to him because he was trying to focus on moving forward not trying to play catch up, because playing catch up just made him feel sad, made him focus on things that he didn’t want to, and he wanted to move forward not stay behind. All the same, he did know how to swim and he didn’t hate it. If he hadn’t been able to and if he had hated it he wouldn’t have gotten in, teasing from Andy or no. And he knew he would have gotten teasing, though they hadn’t known each other for a very long time it wasn’t too hard for him to guess that.
Pride had been moping in his room lately, consumed by his darkness. He couldn’t help himself. He didn’t often get into dark moods, but when he did it was not all that easy to pull him out of them because he sunk deep down into them and didn’t often like to get out. He just would lock himself away. It would always take an outside source—usually his sister or his Mum—to get him out of it and back into the real world. But this time, it seemed that it was Andy.
Because every time he turned around, there she was. Tugging him out of his room, demanding she do things with him, distracting him from his sadness and his darkness and making him see the light for at least a little while. And he was grateful for that even though ti may not seem that way because he was always trying tog et out of it and appeared to be the most reluctant person to do absolutely anything that she suggested. He didn’t mean to be difficult, it was just hard for him to want to do anything when he was like this, and he felt that he had a valid reason to be this way.
Facing your darkest fears and having it taint the way you looked at someone that you very much so cared about could do that to a person after all.
He winced at that and then forced himself to once more focus on the real world. He was pretty sure Andy would smack him if he went off into his own head for too long and make him face the real world for too long. Pretty sure, no, more like certain. Mostly because it wouldn’t be the first time that she had done that.
He commented, saying that basically it had been a long time since he had been in the water and also that he hadn’t known that Juno would want to swim. She was a snow dog after all, so he hadn’t been expecting her instant love of the water as she happily paddled about, before going over to the stairs where she could sstand and still be in the water. She was usually happily prancing in the snow, not paddling through the water, so how was he to know that she would enjoy it? Like he said, he didn’t often swim and it had been a long time since he had been in the water last.
”A lake?” he question, curious when she spoke. He hadn’t before heard Andy speak about her own past or her own life…well…ever. She seemed closed off about it and he respected that entirely. But she had brought it up and he couldn’t resist the urge to comment on it, at least for a moment. It was also a slightly obvious attempt to get the topic off of him, and make sure it stayed off of him. He knew she wanted to help, he also knew he wasn’t sure if he was ready to be helped.
Ah, but then she said catch me if you can and he couldn’t help the slight smile. There was no way he could catch her if she swam all the time and he was going to tell her so because, well, he was an honest sort and he was going to say something about it. Rather than make a fool out of himself trying to catch her, which he knew she would expect him to do anyway but he would attempt to get out of it first.
But he never got the chance to do that because she did something he didn’t expect. She moved her body up out of the water and flopped backwards back into it to swim away from him. With their conversation, his thoughts, and the fact that the water distorted things, he had totally forgotten the fact that she was naked in the water and he nearly was with only his boxers on to keep him from joining that club. He noticed that Juno was happily swimming off after Andt, which shouldn’t’ be a surprise given how his puppy was with just about everyone.
But Pride was too busy turning bright red. Because, what he had turned away to avoid seeing to be a gentleman before, because he had gotten enough warning to, he had now seen quite clearly. She was naked and he had seen and, well, he wasn’t going to say he didn’t like what he saw, he wasn’t crazy. But he was too much of an old soul, too much of a gentleman to go around starting at naked women and it made him turn bright red.
He shook his head, trying to shake it off.
He could totally handle this. He was a man, wasn’t he? Shit. He shook his head again and swam off after her as best he could. She was such a nut.

Andy had come such a long way from the scared little pregnant princess from so long ago. There was something that she did not wanna talk about ever, but she was proud of herself though. A few years ago she had been living on a small little island off the coast of Greece, where her mother and father ruled. She had been frightened and alone, for the most part. She had slept with this guy she knew and gotten pregnant. That was not what a princess was supposed to do, not even close really. Her parents had frowned upon it as well when they found out. They had been so mad at her, they wanted her to let them get rid of it. Though it wasn't technically allowed in their country, they would do it on the down low so that their daughter wouldn't be perceived as a disgrace.
Even though she was so afraid, she actually wanted to be a mother. She thought maybe she could be a great mother. She thought that would take good care of the baby, with or without a man, or her parents to help her. Her parents though, they had disagreed.
One morning when she had been sitting down by the lake by the large house that was basically a castle (thought Andy didn't want to think of it like that because it just made it all the more real that she used to be a princess) a man who was one of her family's guard came down to her and tried to cut open her stomach, leaving an x shaped scar on her stomach, which was still pronounced. She was so frightened by the whole experience though, she had miscarried and lost the baby. She was completely lost for awhile, and her companion who had watched her and taken care of her her whole life had helped her escape to the states and he sent her money whenever she needed it. Her parents never found her, hell she didn't even know if they were looking. She was a disgrace to her family. It didn't matter though, she didn't want them to look for her, she felt that she had outgrown them. She didn't want to even think about the past except to commend herself for coming so far.
Andy had come along way.
Now she was her happy self again. She was skipping around the campus with a big grin on her face. She would show off her scars proudly. She wasn't proud of them, but she was proud that she was okay about them. Not like anyone was really going to ask her about them anyway. Though, she was pretty sure that Pride would ask eventually, especially since he had seemed so concerned about them earlier. Not that he had said anything, and she wasn't that opposed to telling him with it so fresh on her mind. Even so, she wasn't going to say anything at all about it unless he actually asked her. No need to have any awkward conversations when she could just avoid them instead. That was her motto anyway.
Here she was helping someone else, someone she cared about. She was helping Pride. She was helping him be better, even if he didn't want to be better. She didn't care, she was going to make him better. Make him better, because he deserved to be better, and because she liked him. She liked him a lot, she wanted him to be happy. She wasn't sure if he liked her or not but that was okay.
In the spirit of helping him she had brought him and her favorite little puppy of his out to the pool, she had stripped naked and made him jump in with her. He of course was still clothed. When she had swam over to him after he jumped in they had been talking and she told him about the lake she swam in near her house. It was a small tid bit but it seemed to peak his interest.
She shrugged it off and spoke "Yeah...where I grew up there was a lake nearby and I used to go there all the time because I loved to swim"
She wasn't going to say much more about it, instead she had decided she wanted to play and flopped back into the water, which also gave him a full view of her front side, it wasn't intentional or anything but she thought it was funny because she could see in full view the red pigment on his cheeks before she landed in the water letting it swallow her up.
She almost laughed but instead she kept swimming away from him. She swam over to the wall and came up out of the water and held onto it. She was looking at him and she couldn't help the little joke that she was thinking from coming out "Are you okay? I thought I saw your face red back there." She grinned a little bit and looked at him, she wasn't trying to embarrass him she just thought that it was funny.

Pride had been so out of sorts lately. He knew what had caused it, and he knew that everyone who had been sucked into it was out of sorts. So he should be able to take some comfort in that, but instead he had been so focused on the darkness inside of him that he had shut everyone else out and just let himself get lost in those shadows and that great black darkness inside of him that was threatening to eat him up whole lately no matter what he had done to try and get himself out of it. Which was admittedly not much.
He had been kidnapped, again. It was one of his greatest fears. And not only that, but he had been tortured as well this time. After spending most of his childhood being a captive it was pretty easy to see why being one again would put him entirely out of sorts. But anyway, it had been such a dark time for him that he found himself entirely not like himself. This had happened to him before, the first time after Father had taken him he had gotten like this. But that time he had had Ree and Mum to suck him back into the world of the living.
This time he had had no one to start with. He had had Raea but every time he looked at her he just equated her to what had happened even though it wasn’t her fault. And that wasn’t fair to her so that was why he had split things off with her, even though he was sure that she wasn’t happy about that and he couldn’t blame her. It wasn’t anything that anyone would be happy about after all. Seriously, who in their right mind would be?
But anyway, Pride had started off this time with absolutely no one. No one to drag him out and make him rejoin the real world which he sorely did need to do but he couldn’t force himself to do because he was in such a slump. He tried, and Juno tried to make him but usually he would try for all of a short period of time before he just sighed and figured it was hopeless before giving up again and letting himself slump right back down into the shadows and hide out in his room again like a recluse.
And then Andy had appeared.
He had no idea what had sparked her to decide it was her mission in life to take care of him, but that seemed ot be exactly what she had decided. Well, not care for him exactly but make him feel better again, drag him out of his room and back out into the real world for a little while. And she had been doing a better job than he would have expected mostly because she was, to be honest, entirely relentless in her persistence of her goal. She would literally drag him out if he tried to tell her he was busy and couldn’t come out—which was usually a lie anyway.
Take today for instance. He had been just hiding out in his room when he had gotten the message from her demanding him come out of his room and emet her in the rec center. He had no idea what she would want from him there and for a little while he had almost told her no before realizing that would get him no were and agreeing to come down and meet her there. And he had done just that, with his puppy Juno in tow.
He hadn’t been expecting him to take her to the pool. He hadn’t been expecting that in the slightest. He hadn’t swum in a very long time, after all, he could barely remember how to to be honest. It had been that long. Juno had jumped in without much reservation but Pride, well Pride was still trying to figure out how exactly to get out of it if he could. He just wanted to hide out in his room and pretend that he had no need to come out of it, thank you. He didn’t care how depressing that sounded.
Besides, he hadn’t even brought his suit.
Not that that seemed to stop Andy. Or him once she demanded it of him. And then they were both in the water and Pride was trying very hard not to think about the fact that she was only like a foot away from him wearing absolutely nothing. At all. And he was just in his boxers. It nearly made him turn bright red just thinking about it but he tried to focus on what they were saying, the conversation they were having about the water and swimming and then she mentioned a lake which he questioned.
He nodded a little bit at what she said. They had only ever talked about him, something that was weird for him, because she seemed to always avoid talking about her. He would rather talk about her, he was never the type of person to talk about himself or focus on himself at all. So the fact that she always somehow avoided talking about where she had grown up, well, this little tidbit certainly managed to catch his attention, so he nodded. ”Really? Sounds lovely. You’ve never talked much about where you grew up before” he said, trying to then keep this conversation on her and not on him.
She then told him to catch her, something that would not happen with Pride’s level of swimming, and proceeded to give him a full view of her front while she was wearing nothing. It was just a quick glimpse and he looked away as soon as he noticed but he had still seen and he was still bright red before he attempted to swim afterher, something he stopped doing when she joked and teased him, he shook his head. ”Yep…perfectly fine” he said, shaking his head. Hey, he had been saying that all the time anyway, right? One more little white lie couldn’t hurt.
He didn’t want to say he was less of a man because he respected her too much to stare even if part of him wanted to…he couldn’t help it, he did find her attractive after all, even if he was not jumping into anything like that again any time soon.
