Willow Serenity Andromida was pouting.
She was bored. And she didn’t know where Aoife was. She sat cross-legged in the middle of the room that they shared, wondering where her twin was and why she was sitting here all alone. Willow had lots of friends! Didn’t she? So why was she all alone right now in the middle of a Saturday with nothing to do? She couldn’t bug Daddy because he was busy being important and running the world they lived in, and she couldn’t find her twin, so where did that leave her? All alone with nothing to do at all. This wasn’t okay!
She pouted more.
She was wearing her pretty rainbow striped dress, and her pretty rainbow sneakers, and her hair was clipped back with rainbows. And it was brushed all nice and pretty too. She had her sketchbook sitting in front of her but there was nothing she could do with it. She was not in the mood to draw for the first time in her life. She was just pouting. There was nothing for little Willow to do today. She was all alone and she hated that.
She had made friends over the years, lots of friends! But they were off doing big kid stuff. She wanted to do big kid stuff too. Or adult stuff like working, which was boring. If she was able to, Willow would probably throw a very loud temper tantrum right about now, but she couldn’t. She was mute. So she couldn’t even scream, well she could but that hurt her voice! The little girl was not having a very good day despite her very colorful outfit. It was so sad, she couldn’t match the cheerfulness of her favorite thing! She was usually so good at that! Willow loved rainbows so much, and it was a very rare moment for the little girl to actually not be happy.
Willow was one of those people who refused to let things get her down. She preferred to be positive all the time. She was one of those people who preferred to always find the silver lining. But today she was having trouble with that for one of the first times of her life. She just wanted to be around someone else, but she couldn’t do that if no one was around! It was such a terrible puzzle.
She stood with an uncharacteristic sigh and looked around her room. There was nothing interesting in here. She had all the stuff she could possibly want, but she didn’t want stuff, she wanted people. Willow didn’t like to watch TV, that wasn’t her thing, and she didn’t like to go on electronics because she preferred to color and paint and sketch. She would, of course, because she loved Disney. But she wasn’t even in the mood for that! There was something horribly wrong with her today!
She stomped her little foot, feeling very discouraged with herself. She was not a happy camper today, no, not at all. She wanted something to do and nothing was coming to present itself. She was only seven after all, she couldn’t handle everything for herself! What was she supposed to do! She was just a little girl. It wasn’t like she could drive herself places.
She pouted and then turned on her heel. She was going to ‘splore. That usually amused her at least. When nothing else could catch her attention, Willow could always find herself entertained by looking around in places that she wasn’t supposed to be. It was her special talent to find these places and figure out everything she wanted to about them. And she never even got in trouble because she was special around here, Daddy protected her. She loved him. She nodded. She would explore. It was set then.
She left her room, which was something she often did because her poor room rarely got as much use as it should despite the fact that the room that she and her twin shared was huge and elaborate. She wandered out into the hallway and started to explore a little. She looked around, trying to find secret little hidey holes that she hadn’t found before or people talking so she could snoop and see what they were talking about. But it seemed really quite around the Citadel today, which was something the little girl wasn’t used to.
When she was alone she always got really upset. It made her think of bad things she had pushed away to the back of her head and stopped talking to make sure that they never came out. She didn’t like this. The little girl started to sniffle, not feeling too happy.
But Willow never cried! She wasn’t going to cry! She wasn’t. She sniffled some more and willed the tears to go away, to go far, far away. She didn’t want to cry. Willow was a big girl. She never acted like a little baby. There was no reason for her to be crying like a little baby just because she was alone.
She turned the corner and saw a very familiar figure in the hallway in front of her. She started to cry then. Finally! there was someone she knew! She launched herself down the hallway and into the library after where the person had disappeared into, happy to not be alone anymore. She didn’t even care what they did, she was just overjoyed to have found someone. She just hoped they weren’t as busy as everyone else around her seemed to be. Too busy to play with little Willow
