It pleased him that he was able to distract her by asking her questions, but also that she was willing to explain to him what she saw. Tripp could feel her relaxing in his arms and his own heartbeat had returned to normal. It occurred to him that it was kind of cute the way her face scrunched up as she talked. When she pressed her hand to his chest he involuntarily sucked in a short sharp breath, not that the touch hurt or bothered him but it had just caught him off guard. It was an personal touch even tough it was done at this time with innocence, he just wasn't used to it.
He had to tear his eyes away from her face while she was speaking of his bond with Lilly. A lump formed in his throat and he swallowed hard looking out into the night. Even though he had looked away he was still listening to her and her explanations. A bright bond even through all the darkness, that was exactly what Lilly was to him. She was a solitarily light in this world of darkness he found himself in. So he wasn't completely lost, there was still a sliver of humanity left in him. after all he was standing in a tree with a scared girl clinging to him...that was him being nice. Wasn't it? It was very rare for him, very rare.
For a little while he tried to imagine what it looked like for her, up here looking down on the city. No wonder she was always climbing trees. He really should teach her better ways to get up high and not get stuck. Should? As in future tense. Did he really see himself spending time with her again. Probably. It seemed like she would be one of those people fate seemed to throw in his direction wether he liked it or not. Right now he wasn't sure if he minded it. She kind of was a different soul that reminded him of simpler things. He guessed that it wouldn't be the end of the world.
Tripp slowly tightened his grip around her waist and eased them both down slowly to sit on the branch they hand been standing on. "I won't drop you." [/i] He glanced down, they were up high but not as high as she had been just moments before. He studied the tree branches mentally making a route down. He could do it, even with her clinging to him it was still possible. "We can't stay up in this tree all night."[/i] He could imagine her doing that but he on the other hand wanted to climb down. Tripp slowly moved his legs so that both of them were on the same side of a large branch. He grabbed her hands in his pulling on of her arms around his shoulders. "I need you to climb into my back...just hang on."[/i] He looked at her his face just inches from hers. "Ok?"[/i] He would wait for her to climb around him and to hang on before he would start to move again. "Tell me...what other kinds of...links or bonds do you see?"[/i] Yes he was trying once again to distract her. He waited until she was situated and adjusted her so that he could move down the tree. One branch at a time, he moved slowly and steady enough so that she wouldn't panic. He was agile and sure footed as he climbed down. It didn't take as long as he thought it might before he was placing his feet on the solid ground of the earth beneath them. Tripp stood there for a moment glad they were out of the tree, he quickly glanced around to see if anyone had observed their little trip down, but he didn't see anyone around. He liked it better that way. "See...safe and sound."[/i] His voice had regained his normal confidence and he smiled his dimples just starting to show themselves. [/blockquote] Words: 668 or something like that Muse: Calm-ish Notes: this went better than I imagined lol

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] my hearts a radio, turn me up when you feel low When she spoke of the familial bond and he looked away from her it did not escape her that something about that particular bond made him sad. Of course she didn't know the reason why, couldn't quite fathom it either, the bond was brilliant and strong. There weren't any frayed edges, it connected strongly. So she couldn't see why it would make him sad. But she wouldn't ask, because she already felt guilty about making him sad. So she simply continued talking about the bonds, her face expressive as she explained to him what exactly it was that she saw up high in the trees.
She blinked as his grip tightened around her waist and he pulled her down to sit, easily moving to sit next to him, though her hands still clung to his jacket. "I know, you didn't before" And he hadn't. Just like that Seraphi trusted him completely. It wasn't that she was afraid that he'd let her fall, more afraid of the prospect of falling. She frowned slightly, she didn't particularly want to go down, but she wouldn't argue with him. If he said they had to go down, then she supposed they would go down. She let him guide her hands to his shoulders, nodding her head as he asked her to climb onto his back, to hang onto him, a soft smile on her face. "Okay, I will" And with that she moved to climb onto his back, keeping a tight grip onto him.
The minute he started to move her grip tightened and she pressed her face to his back. She couldn't explain it, why she was so afraid of going down, why the height scared her so much, the only thing she knew is that if she kept her grip tight on him she would be okay. His words had her cautiously peeking over his shoulder at him, her face scrunching up again as it was prone to do when she started to talk about things she was passionate about. "Oh! Well...there are lots of them, like the one me and you have! It's blue, my favorite, cause we just met, so our links just came together. And there are one's that link friends. " She cocked her head to the side, completely oblivious of their downward motion, now that she had something to distract her.
She rested her chin on his shoulder, completely content to stay clinging to his back. "And then there are the ones that don't stick, cause they don't quite fit, those ones are like..." She scrunched her nose up again, not sure how to describe it to him fully. "Like love, but not, cause they don't last" She paused for a moment, as if to check if that was how she wanted to describe it before smiling. "And there are ones where you really want something, or someone." She was, of course, talking about lust bonds, but she wasn't familiar with the term. She only knew it as an intense want for something, or someone as she had stated. "And there are bad ones" She grew serious then as she mentioned the bad bonds. Those ones always made her pause, made her sober up almost.
Her fingers gripped his jacket as she wiggled a bit, trying to get a bit more comfortable before resting her head on his shoulder again. "Like..hate, and dislike, and broken links. I don't like broken links, they make me sad because most of the time they used to be happy" She fell silent then, because she became quite aware of his own dark bonds again, a hand reaching out to touch the dark links that were so clear to her. "You won't hate me right?" She didn't like watching bonds turn into hate bonds, and she didn't want that pretty blue bond that connected him to her, that was still forming. She didn't want to watch the bond between them grow dark and twisted. It scared her whenever that happened, especially if it would happen to her.
And then they were on the ground, and she beamed at him, possessing no ambition to move from her spot on his back, instead she giggled. "I like your smile, it's nice" Right after that was said she yawned, she had been tired and a bit hungry before climbing the tree, and now she was just a bit more than tuckered out, perhaps that was why she was reluctant to let go, because she was comfortable where she was. "I'm hungry, are you hungry? I was going to go get something, then I came out here." The thought of letting him carry her into the building, like riding one of the horses she loved to go see, made her giggle, and she couldn't help but grin at him, her own little private joke that she wasn't going to share. As usual, thoughts of being tired and hungry left after she got the idea to have him give her a piggy back ride everywhere.

While she chatted Tripp honestly tried to visualize what she was talking about. He pictured a mess of ribbons or maybe they looked more like chains…she had said links after all didn’t she? Anything with word bond in it made him think of chains. He started to wonder what she thought of him, having to see all his bonds…all the darkness the surrounded him. It clearly didn’t scare her away like it did others. Odd. He blinked turning his head a little to look at her again. “I won’t hate you.” [/i] He shook his head but was serious. “I can’t promise you won’t end up hating me though.”[/i] He shrugged and looked away. His feet had hit the ground and she said she liked his smile. Not many people told him that, if they did it was in an attempt to flirt, but he felt like she was genuine. “Um…thanks…”[/i] She was tired, why was she going around climbing tress if she was so tired. He really could not understand this girl. She inquired if he was in need of food and he thought it over for a moment. Before he answered her he stood there for a moment without moving, expecting her to hop down from him. It dawned on him that she had no intention of hoping down and he shook a little trying to dislodge her. He was mostly playing but he also expected his effort to work. It didn’t. She remained clinging to him. She wasn’t going anywhere. A little sigh slipped over his lips. “I could eat.”[/i] He looked over his shoulder at her. “Are you gonna stay there?”[/i] most people avoided him, having someone clinging to his back was something he hadn’t experienced before. “You know others will see you with me…it isn’t usually good for someone to be socializing with a person like me.”[/i] His tone was only a little sarcastic, but mostly he was telling the truth. “I have quite a reputation.”[/i] Since she wasn’t moving he started forward towards the dining hall. “Ok, I warned you.”[/i] It was her loss if she got into any trouble for hanging out with him. Professors and students alike knew that Tripp was bad news and he didn’t see that changing any time soon, not that he would want it too. He liked the distance. As they walked he pulled out another cigarette, he didn’t give her chance to protest before he lit the end. A light pressure popped the menthol bead, camel crush had become his new favorite smoke, he took a nice pull and blew the smoke toward the opposite side she had her head on. They only passed a few others while on their way to the dining hall, Tripp’s expression calm but if they made eye contact a threatening glare was directed at them. The result was a quick retreat of those who happened to look at him and Aphy. Others tended to avoid him and he knew why, they had the intuition that he wasn’t good. It was a feeling others got around him, so why was she so oblivious to it? He wondered for a moment what she would think of his affinity. It wasn’t nice. It wasn’t shiny or pretty. It was dark, just like him. With just a touch he could leave people with an unexplainable uneasiness and nightmares when they slept. It seemed like every year he progressed through this fledgling life everyone seemed to stay farther and farther away from him, as if is affinity was growing as well. He wondered what nightmares he could invoke when he make the transition into a full vampire. He knew the time was getting close as his last year here at the academy was already half over. Reality was brought crashing back to him when they entered the doors of the dining hall. The warmth of the room hit him and the chatter of the other students whom had been dining quieted to a dull mummer. Tripp cleared his throat and gave Aphy a little shake. “Gonna get down now?”[/i] The smell of the food hit him and it was suddenly clear to him that he was indeed starving. [/blockquote] Words: 701 Muse: Thoughtful Notes: He has no idea why he is hanging around him, wonder what Andrew will think??

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] my hearts a radio, turn me up when you feel low Her face lit up into a smile when he said that he wouldn't hate her. She didn't want him too, she didn't want anyone hating her, but she couldn't help to ask. He had so many of the dark bonds, so many, and she didn't want hers to be included in that. But when he said that she might end up hating him her smile fell off, confusion coloring her face as she blinked, the mere thought of her hating someone had never ever crossed her mind. "Why would I hate you? I wouldn't hate you. I like you" The smile came back, brilliant as she cocked her head to the side slightly. "You climbed with me" And that was it. Short of physically hurting her or anyone she loved, there was a strong possibility that he could never get her to hate him.
She beamed at his thank you, nodding her head. "Your welcome!" She had meant it, genuinely, Seraphi hardly said things she didn't mean. She was delightfully honest because she couldn't possibly ever lie. She giggled when he shook her, only clinging tighter to him, her smile wide as she shook her head. "Uhuh. I'm comfy!" And once more her smile left, her eyebrows drawing together as she cocked her head to the side. "I don't see just darkness. Nope. I see everything" Of course, Seraphi being Seraphi it came out as cryptic as can be. But what she meant was that she could see past the darkness, to the good beneath, that she didn't care because she knew that Tripp was good, even if it was buried.
She giggled as he started forward, shifting just a bit so one hand was securing her to his back so her other hand could go and push her hair out of her face once more. She didn't have any problem with him smoking, didn't say anything about it. She simply was enjoying the ride, and she was hungry, they were going to get food, so she didn't really care if he smoked or not. The few people that they did pass were people she knew, who she enthusiastically called out too, waving a hand, and once or twice informing them that she and her new friend were going to get something to eat. Any quick retreats from people who Tripp glared at went unnoticed by Seraphi.
Seraphi also seemed to miss how the people who occupied the dining hall seemed to quiet down when she and Tripp entered. Instead she giggled as he shook her slightly, grinning. "Maybe!" But of course she spotted one of her friends, and easily slid off of Tripp's back, grabbing his hand and skipping, yes skipping, over to said friend, giving her a tight hug and a hello. Because Seraphi hadn't been able to see her today! She then informed the girl that Tripp, whom she referred to as 'my friend', were getting food and ended up grasping Tripp's hand once more, heading over to where the food was. "It smells so good!" She beamed up at him as she got into line, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
The people who worked in the dining hall knew Seraphi well, and when she greeted them they already had a plate filled with fries for her. Just fries again Aphy? I'm sure Andrew'd want you to eat something else too Seraphi giggled, shaking her head and reaching for the plate. "Noooo, I like fries" She beamed at the worker, before tugging on Tripp's arm, apparently that was all she wanted right now. Though the worker did end up holding a plate out to Tripp, with a sandwhich on it, informing him she'd end up stealing it from him after she finished the fries. They all knew Seraphi's eating habits well, usually when she was done with her fries she'd steal something off of Andrew's plate, mostly because she thought it was sneaky.

Tripp adjusted his jacket after Aphy had slid off, his half use cigarette rested between his lips. It crossed his mind to go his own way now that he had delivered Aphy to the dinning hall per her request, not that he had much choice with her clinging to his back. The decision he was contemplating was made for him as she grabbed him by the hand and started to tug him along with her. Tripp was a big guy and only protested a bit as she pulled. If he had wanted to plant his feet she would have had a much harder time dragging him around, full vampire or not. The expression plastered on Tripp’s face was calm, but underneath he was feeling quite uncomfortable while being pulled about the dinning hall. He eyed the girl Aphy hugged, no he didn’t recognize her, he shifted his weight from foot to foot. He clearly was regretting this.
It wasn’t long before Aphy grabbed him again and pulled him into the lunch line. Now this was something new for him, he rarely ate at the school. It required too much effort and he much more preferred the food at Indulgence and the atmosphere. It was more in his comfort zone, this…this was not. The lunch worker was handing Tripp a plate, he held up two fingers and another sandwich was placed on the plate before he took it. He didn’t thank them, but just turned as Aphy pulled him another direction once again.
His eyes scanned the crowd, looking for a place to sit. A couple of students looked up it was apparent on their faces they recognized Tripp, quickly they got up and moved away. This time Tripp did the tugging and pulled her to a table near them with the seats that just emptied themselves. “Here…” [/b] He plopped his tray down and turned a seat around before sitting down on the backwards chair. The cigarette was plucked out from where it rested and he stuck it in a discarded can of soda that was abandoned during the scramble to get up and out of their way. He picked at the bread of the sandwich on the plate in front of him. It didn’t look that appetizing, nothing like good old bar food. A sigh almost slipped past his lips, but instead he took a bite of the sandwich. As bad as it looked it didn’t taste to terrible and knowing the academy it was healthy for you. Her plate held only fries, it was a surprise to him that she got away with only eating that and then again it seemed like Aphy usually got what she wanted. He didn't have much to talk about, he just sat there chewing the almost half gone sandwich. His thoughts began to wander back to links and Lilly. Tripp squirmed in his seat and cleared his throat, the last bit of his sandwich going down the hatch. He watched Aphy waiting for whatever she was to pull on him next. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] my hearts a radio, turn me up when you feel low Now it didn't cross Seraphi's mind that she did not have a boot upon her foot when she slid from his back and settled on her feet. She hardly paid attention to the slight chill that one foot had as she stepped forward with only one boot on one foot and a sock on the other, her hand grasping his and tugging him along, not noting that he resisted for a moment. Aphy was content with what she currently had, she wasn't going to be bothered with the lack of a boot, it wasn't about to ruin her night for her, instead she pulled him along, saying hello to a few people on the way as she dragged him to the lunch line, which she was constantly in it seemed as the lunch ladies called her by name, lightly scolding her for not taking something more than just the fries. Not that any of them would deny Aphy if she asked for just the fries, because really, when it came down to it, Aphy was far to sweet of a person to really argue with.
If they pressed for her to take more food she would, but they knew she would end up eating more, usually taking something off of the plate of whomever she was with. She always thought she was so sneaky when she did that! Like a ninja, she always tried to be as sneaky as she could snatching the extra food off of, normally, Andrew's plate. Aphy, however, was anything but sneaky, and she did not seem to mind that fact. Tripp ended up leading her over to a table that had just emptied, not that she noticed, she once more, had been too busy saying hello to someone she knew, but at his word she eagerly followed him, sitting down in the seat across from him and beaming before starting in on her fries. Despite her rather rambunctious behavior Seraphi was a neat eater, she liked to savor the taste of the fries, because they were really good, and so she didn't rush to eat through her food, not like some people.
Instead she ate them one by one, popping one into her mouth and chewing thoughtfully before starting on another one. They fell into silence and she frowned a bit, taking a bite out of another fry before picking one up and lobbing it at him, much like she did with Andrew. "Don't be quiet, it's not fun when you are quiet" She popped another fry into her mouth, chewed and swallowed before beaming at him. "How come I haven't seen you before?" Seraphi had met a lot of people in the school, but she had never run into him before, she'd remember him, mostly because she remembered those with the good bonds that were hidden. "I see lots of people around here, but I don't see you. Don't you have a class with Andrew?" Seraphi was suppose to be helping Andrew out in class, but sometimes she tended to wander during some classes, so she couldn't completely be sure that he didn't have a class with Andrew.
She had come to realize with Tripp, whose name she still did not know, she would need a bit more than just engaging him in conversation. Aphy knew enough to see that he was anti-social, she didn't mind that fact and couldn't quite understand why someone wouldn't want to talk to others, but she knew that people like this took a bit more incentive. So, Aphy did what she did best. Aphy played. Smiling at him she reached over for the sandwich still sitting on the plate, taking half of it and eating it while watching him, trying to keep the grin off of her face. After the sandwich had been eaten she reached over for the second half, only to lightning quick reach up for his beanie, snatching it off his head and letting out a peal of laughter as she quickly got up from her seat and took off down the short stretch to the doors. Of course she paused, beaming at him. "C'mon!" She called out to him before promptly placing the beanie on her head and taking off out of the doors.

Tripp watched Aphy eat her dries one by one as he decided weather or not he was hungry enough to eat the second sandwich. He was not a picker eater nor did he doddle around while eating. No, Tripp was quick and proficient while eating, much like other things he did, he didn’t feel like wasting too much of his time on such a mindless task. There she sat with him popping one fry at a time into her mouth, Tripp suppressed a groan. They would be here forever if she kept up that kind of pace. Tripp wiped at his face before rubbing his hands together and leaning on the back on the chair. His steady gaze watched her eat…so freaking slowly.
The incoming fry was not unnoticed and Tripp didn’t move, the fry bounced off his forehead and landed somewhere on the floor in front of him. He blinked, clearly not as amused as she would most likely expect. She didn’t care for how quiet he was being, hence the fry being flung his direction. His brows furrowed into disapproval. “I not always fun, how many times am I going to have to tell you that before you understand?” [/b] his tone was only slightly irritated. He took a couple of fries off Aphy’s plate as punishment for throwing one at him and showed them all in his mouth at once. Chewing he listened to her next question and pondered it for a second. “I’m here and there.”[/b] He stole a few more fries and pointed them at her as he spoke. “We don’t exactly run in the same circles little miss thing.”[/b] The fries where then shoved into his mouth the same way the others had been and he chewed. He continued still chewing. “Andrew…you mean the Creative Writing Professor? Professor Christie?” it suddenly dawned on him who she had been referring to this whole time. It made sense that he’d know him. They were both crazy in their own ways. He shook his head. “They have tried to get me to take that class every year. I might be enrolled in it…Fuck if I know”[/i] Tripp shrugged his shoulders and stole a few more fries, they weren’t so bad after all. He didn’t flinch when she nabbed the other sandwich. So it was possible for her to eat something other than just fries. He was surveying the rest of the cafeteria crowd as she ate. A few diverted their gaze when he looked their way, but he knew them. They owed him money and for a split second he pondered going over and getting what he was owed from them. His thought process was interrupted when he saw Aphy move out of the corner of his eye. Tripp turned his attention back to her just in time for her to snatch his beanie right off his head. ”Hey.”[/b] he swiped at her but wasn’t quick enough to grab her wrist before she was up and out of her seat. Well fuck. He frowned as she laughed and ran towards the doors beckoning him to follow her. A bit of an annoyed growl rumbled through him as he got up out of his seat. If she thought he was going to go running out the door like some little school girl she was dead fucking wrong. Tripp didn’t run unless he wanted to and he was not up to running tonight. He ran his hands through his hair and glanced over at a couple of students that owed him, he pointed at them as a reminder that he hadn’t forgotten. He left the mess of their trays and things on the tables, someone else could clean it up and he lumbered towards the doors. Silently he was cursing himself for not just leaving her in the tree and heading to the club for the night. Tripp was starting to wonder what kind of a mess he had gotten himself into with this girl. The night air felt nice as he left the dining hall and wondered out to see where Aphy had gone. He reached into his back pocket to pull out a smoke and instead he found her boot. He had forgotten he even had it. He was looking for a girl with one boot and his beanie. Great. He held the boot as he walked farther out into the courtyard. “Tell you what...How about a trade?”[/b] He dangled the boot from his fingertips as he spoke into the night air, maybe she was still somewhere close. Normally he would have let her keep the hat but that particular beanie was one of his favorites, he’d had gotten it back when he was still a human. As much as he put that life behind him there were just a few things he didn’t want to part with and that hat was one of them. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] my hearts a radio, turn me up when you feel low The pace with which she ate wasn't something that Seraphi hadn't ever really noticed before. She ate and when she was done she was done, it didn't particularly matter how long it took her. Regardless, she would continue to eat her fries one by one until she decided she was either full or they all disappeared. Of course lobbing one of said fries at someone's face was another way to get ride of them. And promptly irritate said someone. When he made no move to duck out of the way, or even try to catch it she blinked, before promptly giggling, ignoring the look upon his face. She thought it was just so funny that he hadn't moved. Bounced right off his forehead and onto the ground, where it would be forgotten of course, but the act itself wouldn't.
His words though, they didn't make her giggle, in fact she frowned, her eyebrows drawing together as he basically scolded her. The fact was that she didn't understand. She didn't understand how someone couldn't see reasons to be happy, to have fun all the time. She might have swatted at his hand as it reached for her fries if it wasn't for the fact she was still mulling over what he had said. If there was one word that Seraphi had issues with, it was the word understand. Her capacity to understand certain things was not as great as others, there were things she simply just did not understand, and chances were that she would never understand them. She was aware of that, as oddly ironic as that is, she knew there were things she couldn't comprehend, and she'd always been okay with that.
So she sat silent, watched him steal her fries instead of trying to defend them or reply to his statement. She looked down at her fries, reaching to poke at one before picking it up and eating it, silent. She merely glanced up at him when he answered her previous question, a light frown on her face. She wanted to retort but all of a sudden she felt like maybe it was time for her to go home now. Normally when someone grew a bit irritated with her she didn't mind much, just continued on, but to her, he was irritated because she couldn't understand. That was something she couldn't help, no matter how much she might have wanted to understand things like a normal person. She just couldn't.
But of course, Seraphi was easily distracted and at the mention of Andrew all traces of her previous concern, and a bit of sadness, was gone as she basically beamed at Tripp. "Yes! Andrew! He's my favorite" And she would cling to this subject, because it didn't make her sad, or upset and Andrew certainly didn't make her feel out of place. "I like Andrew's class, it's really fun" And like that Seraphi's mind was off of her previous concerns and she readily grabbed another fry to eat before snatching half of the other sandwich. She munched happily on that piece before her usual playfulness arose and she finished off the sandwich only to nab his beanie off of his head.
She giggled as he reached out for her, immediately proud of how she got away from him so quickly. She was sneaky and fast! This thought urged her on as she ran out of the hall and out into the courtyard, still missing one boot, not that it mattered much to her. Her head whipped back and forth, the beanie securely pulled down on her head as she searched for a suitable place to settle in and hide. And she found it, along the walls of the school were many thick shrubs that she quickly moved to hide behind them. She giggled, clasping a hand over her mouth to stifle the sound as he came out and she peeked over the top of the shrubs before ducking her head quickly when he paused in the courtyard. He pulled her boot from his back pocket and she blinked, glancing down at the foot that didn't have a boot on it.
Oh right. She grinned a bit as she looked back at him as he offered a trade. Her hand went up to run over the beanie before she huddled down a bit more, still able to make out his blurry form through the bushes. "I like your hat. And my boot won't fit you silly" The ridiculousness of her statement escaped her, boots were made for wearing, so she simply assumed that if he had her boot he'd wear it. She crouched down a bit more, still peering at him, grinning, because she believed she had a fantastic hiding spot, and besides, if he found her she could jump out and run off, she was confident that she was sneaky and quick enough anyways.

There he stood in the courtyard with a girl’s pink fuzzy boot dangling from his fingertips. Not exactly something he had ever pictured himself doing. Ever. He sighed and ran his free hand over his hair again. Something as silly as a hat shouldn’t have gotten to him and yet it somehow it did. It wasn’t like Tripp got attached too much of anything or anybody in this new life of his, but his beanie was a different story. He had lifted it from a clothing store in his younger human days on one of the many days that he hung out with his friends at their local mall. The rush of a five finger discount was something he would never forget, that and the laughter and rough housing that he and his close group of buddies participated in every afternoon following school.
Tripp’s outstretched arm that held the boot flopped back down to his side. His whole thing was useless. He tapped the boot against his leg. Where could she be hiding? He closed his eye for a moment and tried to listen but the slight breeze had most of the trees and shrubs making a little noise. His eyes opened and he cleared his throat. It was then that he heard her, he voice echoing a little and he wasn’t exactly sure where she was hiding. “I like that hat too.” [/b] He scanned an area where he thought she might be hiding. After getting closer he found that she wasn’t there. A grumble stirred deep within his chest. Irritation. Tripp stuck his free hand in his pocket and he got an idea. He produced his lighter and flicked it until it lit. A grin spread across his face. “Your toes must be cold by now.” The boot swung around and around still in his grasp. “It’d be a pity if you were left with only one.” He spoke into the crisp night air, his breath almost could be seen in little puffs before him. Tripp flicked his lighter once more, producing a nice hot flame. The boot was held up before him once again and he placed the lighter underneath it. The flame was dangerously close to the toe. It made him wonder how fast a boot like that might burn. He’d lost many a shoe as a kid and had to toss the other because what is the use of having just one shoe? He brought the flame closer to the bottom of the boot, just close enough that the rubber would start to blacken. It smelt horrid and he grinned pulling the fame back. “Are you sure you don’t want to rethink a little trade?” His eyes scanned the bushes trying to pinpoint her location. “I bet it doesn’t take very long for something like this boot to burn completely.” Again he put the flame under the boot, soon there would be a nice hole in the sole. “Do you wanna take a guess? Or can I get my hat back and you can keep your little toes nice and warm?”Tripp had no problem with burning the girl’s boot. It wouldn’t be the first thing he had set on fire and it wouldn’t be the last. The thought made him smile remembering his keychain. Funny how a lighter and a flame could spark a memory. That night he had burnt a girl’s flesh, leaving a perfect copy of his skull key chain burned on her hip bone. He grinned and pulled the boot up from the flame and turned it over. There was the beginning of a hole right where the ball of her foot would be. “So…what’s it gonna be sweet heart?” He stood there waiting for her to answer him. [/blockquote] Words: 628 Muse: Good. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] my hearts a radio, turn me up when you feel low She giggled when he replied that he liked the hate too, and then moved off to find her in the wrong spot. Of course she had a hand over her mouth, to muffle the sound because it wouldn't do if he found her this soon! She didn't mean to hide from him in an act of hostility or dislike, she wasn't doing this to piss him off, she merely was playing a game she assumed they both would like. She hadn't realized that he would get angry or irritated, she just assumed that she'd hide for a bit, then if he didn't find her she'd pop out at him, like a ninja. Sneaky was apparently the thing of the week for her.
He mentioned her toes being cold and she glanced down, wiggling said toes, noting that they were cold, in fact she frowned as she realized that the sock wasn't keeping them as warm as she assumed it would. Her eyebrows drew together when he spoke about her only having one. But she didn't, she had two, one on her foot and the other one was in his hand. Seraphi did not suspect that he would ruin her boot in retaliation of her taking his beanie and when the lighter lifted to the boot she blinked, was he going to burn her boot? But why would he do that? She was still working through his motives as to why he would burn her boot when he spoke up again and her eyebrows drew further together.
For a long moment she hide in the bush, crouched behind that shrub, watching as he started to burn her boot before telling her that he would. She had not expected this to happen when she'd snatched his beanie from his head and ran outside with it. No, she most certainly hadn't. Instead of the sneaky ninja jump that she had been so willing to do to reveal herself she merely stood up, tilting her head to the side as she watched him. She was still confused, still not understanding why he would go and burn her boot like that. "Why are you doing that?" She was completely curious and serious with her question. Seraphi did not have a mean bone in her body, she would never damage something that belonged to someone else.
It simply would not cross her mind. So she wasn't getting that he was doing this as an incentive for her to give the beanie back. She knew he wanted the beanie back, she had every intention of giving it back, but she couldn't understand why he would destroy something that belonged to her. "I don't want you to burn my boot" Her voice was soft, quiet, much different than it had been all night. She didn't move though, too trapped in the thought of him burning her boot. "Please don't" By now his request for the beanie was forgotten, and instead the only thing on her mind was the fact that he had already held the flame to her boot.
So that meant he really was going to burn her boot. Which brought a sort of odd panic to her, it was her boot! She liked that boot, it kept her foot warm, and it was pink, and fluffy and he was going to burn it. Yet she felt no anger, just anxiety that he really would and she'd never get her boot back. All of this was oh so very clear on her face, the confusion, the curiosity, the pleading, and of course the anxiety as she watched him, big blue eyes wide, waiting to watch him burn her boot. Because it seemed like he was going too. So that was what she assumed.

The flame had started to burn a hole in the boot’s bottom side, it was almost through to the inside of the boot. Almost but not quite, her boot could still be saved if she showed herself soon. Tripp had no qualms about ruining things that weren’t his, he had done is a thousand times before without blinking an eye. If it got him want he wanted he wouldn’t think twice. Some of his acquaintances had a hard time understanding that, but Tripp never felt the need to explain himself. He did what he wants usually whenever he wanted, that’s just how his world worked. Hell Lexi ended up with a brand into her own flesh because Tripp felt like giving her a little something to remember him by. He didn’t care if she wouldn’t like it or that it was her body and not his to be altering. No, he did what he wanted at the time. Plain and simple.
He was starting to get a bit frustrated when he hadn’t heard anything out of Aphy, but his head snapped around when he heard the bushes rustle when she stood up. She looked confused and a little upset, but he didn’t care. She was clearly against him burning her boot and she expressed that to him clearly. Tripp closed the distance between them, his irritation dissipating. His voice was steady and calm. “Why do others think it’s ok to take something that isn’t theirs?” [/b] Clearly he was referring to his hat, weather she was just playing or not it didn’t matter to him. He held the boot out to her but kept it right out of her reach. “Come out of there and I’ll give it back to you.”[/b] The idea of having to go in there and get her was not exactly appealing to him. Tripp stood there for a moment looking at her and to him it looked like she wasn’t going to budge. So he took a couple steps into the bush, the branches cracking and snapping in response to his sudden presence. His first reaction was to snatch his beanie off her head and toss her boot at her, but there was something in the way she looked at him that made him change his mind. Slowly he reached out and pulled the beanie off her head, his eyes steady on her face. “Here.” The pink boot was handed over to her before he stepped back out of the brush. Tripp took a moment to brush himself off before he tugged the beanie back on his head. He smoothed it out and positioned it just right with his hands, he could almost see his best friends faces. Their long gone laughter was sliding through his mind and he swallowed hard before he cleared his throat. “All right then.”[/i] His voice was sober but did not falter. This night had been fun but he was coming to the conclusion that he might have had about enough of all of it by now. ”I warned you I wasn’t always a bucket of fun…I’ve been told I don’t exactly play fair either.” Tripp pushed his hands in his pocket, one of them wrapping around the still warm lighter. He took a few steps backwards intending to turn and leave. Surely she’d had about enough of him for the evening. [/blockquote] Words: 561 Muse: moody! Notes: sorry, he just got all weird.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] my hearts a radio, turn me up when you feel low Her gaze dropped from him when he scolded her about taking his hat, she hadn't expected him to react like that. One of Seraphi's faults was she always expected others to react how she would react, Seraphi would have laughed and gave chase to whomever had taken her hat, she didn't see that it was wrong, until someone pointed it out to her. She glanced up at him when he told her to move from the bushes to get her bush, instead she seemed to make the smallest move backwards, almost hiding beneath the hat as she watched him. She didn't like being scolded, and now she felt bad for taking his hat. She hadn't meant to upset him and even though he seemed calm, she didn't like being scolded. She didn't like upsetting others.
She watched him as he moved into the bushes, her eyes flicking to his hand before going back to his face as he reached for the beanie on her head, her nose wrinkling as he took it off, instantly missing how it kept her ears warm. He handed her boot back and she snatched it from him, holding it close for a moment before looking down at it, down at where he had burned the sole of her boot. For a long moment she looked at it, before smiling lightly. It was damaged, forever changed, like her. So she simply smiled and pulled it onto her foot, wiggling her toes now that they were out of the cold before looking back up at Tripp.
For a moment she searched through the bonds, because she feared that he would start to hate her now, now that she had upset him, and she didn't want him too. She'd had fun tonight, and she was oh so very glad that she had met him, burned boot or not. He had helped her down from the tree, and gone to get food with her, and she knew he didn't have too, he could have left her. But he didn't and now she regarded him as a friend. She didn't want him to hate her. But she found her bond about as blue as it was when they first met, if not tinging on the color that represented friendship, at least on Seraphi's side.
She frowned as he told her once more that he wasn't always fun, and that he didn't play fair. She mulled this over for a while, more than she normally would truthfully, because she was trying to wrap her head around the fact that he was saying he was a bad person, yet he had been so nice to her, burned boot or not. Finally she simply dismissed the statement, burrowing deeper into her coat and frowning lightly as he took a few steps back. "I didn't mean to make you mad" He had to be mad right? He had scolded her about taking the hat, so that meant he didn't like that she stole his hat, so he was mad. At least that was the reasoning that Seraphi came too.
She frowned a bit more, taking a hesitant step forward, worried now that she would upset him further. "Are you going to leave now?" It was about this time that Seraphi realized she didn't know his name, that this entire time she had merely looked over that fact, but she couldn't very well be friends with him if she didn't know his name. Her head tilted to the side slightly as she regarded this new development. "I don't know your name".

Tripp stood there a light breeze blowing around him and Aphy remained in the bushes. He had watched her as she looked over her boot before she smiled and slipped it on. She didn’t seem too fazed about her burnt boot anymore and he just watched her, he was poised and ready to turn away and yet her he stood looking at her. Then she was frowning as she processed what he said about not being fun, nice or fair. His shoulders slumped lightly as she mentioned him being mad. What was this guilt suddenly that he felt? It never bothered him before. He shook his head after she spoke. It was the same guilt he felt when his little sister looked up at him with her big old sad eyes when she thought she was in trouble. Tripp cleared his throat shifting from foot to foot again. “I’m…not mad.” His tone was a bit softer, the irritation had mostly vanished. He looked at her and listened to her questions.
“Honestly I was…going to leave.” Tripp almost shivered, it seemed a lot colder out now than it was when they were up in that tree, well she was up there and he was trying to get her to come down. “No. You don’t.” He crossed his arms looking at her. “Are you going to come out of those bushes any time tonight?” Tripp had no desire to stand here in the cold talking to a girl standing in the bushes. It had occurred to him that he had probably been a little meaner to Aphy then he should have, it just struck a nerve with him that she took his hat. Yeah it was a only a hat but it meant something to him. It was a piece of his old life and he didn’t like others messing with that. “It’s starting to get fucking cold out here.” Tripp could see his breath more and more on the crisp air.
This had been one of the weirdest night’s Tripp had experienced in a long time. Climbing a tree, eating in the dining hall, looking for a girl in the bushes to get his hat back and now he was standing here trying to get her out of the bushes. What was next? He sure as hell didn’t want to stand here and freeze his ass off when there were plenty of warmer places he…or they could be. He was sure she had had enough of him by now, but she seemed to be worried that he was leaving. What else did she expect? Patience was not something Tripp had a lot of, he had a feeling deep down that he was going to have to find some while Aphy was around. She wasn’t anything like anybody that Tripp was used to hanging out with. She was something altogether different.
